  • Phenomenal Camera
I purchased this camera almost a year ago (came with camera, battery/charger, two lense caps, 300mm zoom lense, and surprise! a strap) and after having used it for all that time, I still am absolutely in love with it. First off, it is a beautiful looking camera. I bought the red simply because it was the cheaper of the two options, but I have fallen in love with the cherry red color. When I first bought it, I was a bit surprised to see how much of it was plastic, and I was a bit apprehensive as to how well it would hold up, but if you take good care of it, it'll last. Just wish the build quality was a bit more premium, but you get what you pay for, besides you forget about the plastic after awhile. The pictures are crisp and clear and performs wonderfully in low light. If you know how to use a camera beyond point and shoot, you can get some fantastic images from this. The built in SnapBridge Bluetooth app is a pretty neat tool (it wasn't a factor when deciding to buy or not) and if you aren't shooting in RAW, then I'd say it's useful. I haven't used the feature in ages, but from what I remember, it performance varies. Some days it worked very fast and like a charm, others it was painfully slow, it's a coin toss really. Battery life is really good, usually last a few of hours when taking pictures, and days on end when not in use. I only wish I didn't have to take the battery out of the camera to charge it, but that's fine, not really a deal breaker. Overall, I love this camera and look forward to using it for years to come. If you're looking into buying a DSLR, I couldn't reccomend a better one. ... show more

  • Unrivaled Entry-Level DSLR Camera Kit - Great Bang for the Buck!
This is an outstanding purchase if you're looking to learn how to use DSLR cameras. This kit has almost everything you need to get started. Once you start figuring out how to take pictures with it and comparing them to images from higher level DSLR cameras, you will quickly learn this entry-level DSLR's picture quality is extremely sharp. I've had my camera now for a few months and I'm constantly getting asked "what kind of camera did you use to take this?" While I'm learning that most of the time the shot has a lot to do with proper lighting, angles and the correct settings, I've also grasped that this camera captures everything extremely well. The manual settings are very easy to use, access and set; and for an entry-level unit, the automatic settings are impressive. I strongly suggest anyone seeking to move past shooting in auto mode or simple point-and-click cameras to consider buying this camera or its predecessor, the D3300. It is an fantastic buy. ... show more

  • Great pictures but NO External Mic Jack!
I bought the Nikon D3400 for my wife back in 2017. She loves it and recently began using the video feature. The internal mic is okay but not good enough for the way she uses the camera. So, I figured a wireless lavalier system like the Pixel Voical Air would be an easy fix. WRONG! No external mic jack! So, no way to feed the audio into the camera. Not a show stopper. I can use her phone to record the audio and mix the sound post production but that's a pain. I was tempted to take off a star out of annoyance over the missing jack but video wasn't a requirement when I bought the camera. So, audio wasn't a factor in the purchasing decision. ... show more

  • Capable to mac (I use for iMovie)...which why I purchased it. I really like it!!!!
Very easy to take pictures (the auto setting). Does have ability to take video but it's best to get the highest memory stick possible (in my case I purchased a 32GB). Since it's compatible with Macs, I suggest download all pics/video and erase it from the camera to create free space every time one uses it. Also for prolong times when not in use TAKE THE BATTERY OUT; it may leak the cost for a new one is over $25.00! There is a charger where the battery snaps into the charger; if the LED on the charger remains flashing--DON'T UNPLUG IT!!. It has two USB ports (unfamiliar with the variety) to hook up to any mac device, in this case. ... show more

  • Good camera for hiking!
Outdoor wildlife pictures. Much better recover then the camera I was using, I’m not missing my shots because the camera isn’t ready. I love that it’s light weight and easy to carry on my hike, but still gives me the zoom I need for most shots on the trail.

  • Buyer Beware.........Poor Quality
I am very disappointed with the quality of this camera and with Nikon. I have had the camera right at 2 years and most of that time it has sat in my closet. I have taken less than 1000 pictures with it and already it needs repairs that will cost $200. The problem is the shutter motor needs to be replaced because it hangs up every couple of shots. Turns out, this is not an uncommon problem with this line of Nikon cameras. ... show more

  • Great customer service
Item arrived in working order, and everything in the box (including a strap I wasn't expecting) the body cap broke in transit, but customer service was responsive and remedied quickly! Awesome camera! And the additional lense made it quick to get started.
