  • A fantastic simple point and shoot
Color: Plum
We bought this camera maybe 2 years ago to have a point and shoot (I have a larger digital camera that takes great pictures but is not terribly portable). It does what it is supposed to - takes solid photos in a variety of settings with little or no effort. Pros: It does what it is supposed to - takes solid photos in a variety of settings with little or no effort. Cute colors. Very trim and portable. Pretty durable. Ours took an undisclosed number of trips to the floor at high speeds and still works fine. Battery life is very reasonable. Replacement or spare parts can be bought in non-name brands now, making them very affordable if you like to have an extra charger or battery around. Cons: The shutter speed is a bit lagging, so this is not the ideal camera to use in settings where a flash is needed but not allowed (some museums, special venues and historical sights) and it's performance on motion shots is mixed, but those are issues found across many point-and-shoots and is not unique to this Nikon Coolpix. There is a slight delay from when you press the button to take the shot and when the camera registers the shot. Too much movement during that time can cause blurry photos. Recently, I bought a 2nd one of these cameras (a used one) for my 5 1/2 year old daughter so she would have a camera of her own for our trip to Paris. She loved the plum color, and I loved that she could operate the camera on her own. So long as the settings are all on auto, even a small child can point and press the button to take a picture. ... show more

  • It doesn't fullfill my expectations!!!
Color: Graphite Black
When I bought this point and shoot, I tought I was getting the best for the price, since it's a nikon, but after using it and surf trough all the picture settings I'm a little dissapointed because when using any of the preset scine settings, mostly portrait setting, I get really yellow pictures, I don't mean a little sun tan sort of yellow, I mean really chicken yellow images, faces, background, wites, blacks, everything gets yellow tainted, just horrible... To be honest that did not happend with my previos point and shoot, Kodak Z670, indcredible but true, I don't regreat having buying it. In the bright sight it's really simple to use, the menu and the settings are really friendly, easy access for the iso settings, great wite balances. The body is slick and beutifull, stylish and light wighted, really ergonomic, I bought it because I have a Nikon D40X, wich I love, but my only problem is that is too big and some times is unconfurtable to take it to parties or places where you won't have a lot of room to work with it, so I find my new S220 convinient to solve this problem, as long as I shoot in auto is just perfect. So if someone can give me a hint to solve my yellowish problem, please let me know... I do recomend it, the battery life is great. ... show more

  • WHAT A GORGEOUS CAMERA & IT TAKES GORGEOUS PICTURES!
Color: Plum
I too was very hesitant on purchasing this camera because of all of the negative reviews. I just couldn't accept the fact that a company such as Nikon would sell "crap". I did a lot of research and read just about all of the reviews I could find and noticed that most of the reviews had two things in common. The pictures were "grainy and blurry". I took the advice of some of the reviewers and lowered the ISO settings to 80 before I used the camera. I am proud to say that I am exceedingly satisfied with my gorgeous Plum Nikon. People, instead of just opening the box and taking photos, please, please READ THE MANUAL. ... show more

  • This Camera was sold good/condition, but was dirty, scratched up and still had pictures left on it.
Color: Plum
This product was sold used in good shape, but it was dirty, scratched up and still had pictures on it from the user. I tested it for picture quality, and it was easy to use, it was the size I needed for an upcoming mission trip where I needed a small camera to fit into my pocket, easy to carry and have available when I want to capture some of God's beautiful back drops, he has given us to enjoy. We are leaving in a week and don't have time to order another camera, the picture quality is good, but just disappointed for the price I paid for a used camera that was really warn on the outside. sad, that they said it was in good condition, I feel that the inside camera is in good condition, the outside is really in bad shape. I am not sending it back, will just be more careful from now on. I think for the price i paid it would have looked a little better. ... show more

  • okay for its price--compared to canon powershot
After having a sony cyber shot for a few years and being very happy with it, it stopped working well and I found myself in the market for a new camera. I wanted to try a different company, and I basically narrowed it down to Canon, which a lot of my friends have, and Nikon. With Canon my choice was the canon powershot sd1200 and the nikon coolpix. I knew my friends were happy with the Canon, and it's a very popular camera in general, but when reading reviews I didn't see much difference between the Canon and the Nikon. And so I decided to go with Nikon since it was cheaper and I really liked the colors (yes, I actually picked a camera based on color). I think the coolpix is an okay camera, especially considering how cheap it is. However, if you really want a camera that consistently takes good photos I would go with the canon. Maybe I just don't have the setting right, (the settings are very confusing, and they have really obscure ones like "museum" and "food") but sometimes my pictures come out really blurry or with weird yellow light. But other than that it is a pretty decent camera. And I do love the color. ... show more

  • Nice little camera
As a fan of Nikon I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. The perfect little "point & shoot" camera. Graduation gift for daughter heading off to college & she loves it! Not overly complicated as some models can be, simple controls, easy downloading, fast start up and recovery between shots, etc, etc. Adding a screen protector & a 2gb-4gb memory card is a must. Wife (extremely non-tech savvy) liked it so much, now looking for another one for her. For the money, less then $130, and for a simple, small, point & shoot camera, you can't go wrong with this model. ... show more
