Description

Optimized for Nikon's compact DX-format DSLRs, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II features a retracting design that's small and lightweight-ideal for travel and everyday use. Its versatile zoom range goes from 55mm, which is great for portraits and group shots, up to 200mm telephoto for catching close-ups on the sports field, school events and more. Forget about blurry photos and shaky videos; Vibration Reduction (VR) helps keep your photos sharp and your videos steady. On its own, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II is a great multipurpose lens. As a companion to the 18-55mm kit lens that comes with many DX-format DSLRs, it offers continuous coverage across the entire focal length range from 18mm to 200mm.FEATURES: Small, lightweight telephoto zoom lens - Thanks to a new retractable lens barrel design, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II is remarkably small and lightweight, making it a well-balanced match to Nikon DX-format DSLRs. Zoomed out, it's just 83mm long, approximately 20% shorter than previous models. Zoomed in, it provides 200mm of telephoto reach to get you closer to all the shots that matter. Vibrant, clear photos and videos - The AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II is an advanced lens that pushes Nikon's new high-resolution DSLRs to peak performance. NIKON AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm works very well on two of my Nikon cameras

  • Small compact lens, with ED glass element, ultrasonic drive, F mount, for F and DX Nikon cameras.

Only caveat, no direct focus screw, and plastic mounting flange. Zoom focal ring, may need to glued down over use. Otherwise, unit is smooth in working zoom and focus, images clean, sharp, light in weight, relatively silent in use. Just advised seller to be clear about what they meant they said “White boxed new”, they said it was in fact used, but nothing showed to be a problem. Low cost, high optical performance. ... show more

  • Solid Budget Lens
*: Black
This is a very good budget zoom lens, although a stretch to call it a good lens at any price. Image quality, sharpness, low light capabilities, etc. are all about average. Nothing is going to wow you with this lens. Its pretty middle of the road, which was my expectation. IQ, sharpness, etc., could definitely be better. Overall, it is a serviceable lens in these respects. This part is a bit subjective, so I will leave it at that. The AF/MF is a mixed bag. The AF motor is rather loud. Not so much that people around will think you have a "device," but just saying. It makes a lot more noise than my AF-P kit lenses. Also, there are less options in camera (D5600) for AF drive modes for AF-S, and the AF-P lenses are more capable in this respect. The focusing speeds are comparable to other budget lenses. Other than being noisy, the AF is good enough. The MF is not great. In fact, its poor. The MF ring feels like cheap china junk. It does not have that fluid dampened feeling like the AF-P kit lenses. Its loose and rickety by design. Also, the range is very short, which makes it hard to fine tune a manual focus. Finally, if you the AF is switched on, you cannot MF override by use of the ring. The ring becomes locked. The AF-P kit lenses do not do this. You can be in AF mode, but then also make a MF fine adjustment on the fly. This is a little annoying. I wouldn't say a dealbreaker, but definitely annoying. Weight is also a consideration for me. Its rather a big consideration. Weight is what keeps me away from the 18-140 VR, and other very wide focal range lenses. Yes, it would be convenient to just bring one lens with a wider focal range vs two each with smaller ranges. But the 18-140 VR (490g) is quite a bit heavier than the 18-55 VR (205g) or 55-200 VR. (300g). It almost weighs as much as both combined. I would rather the lens on the camera be light, even if it means carrying a second (or more) lens in a backpack or whatever as I am always committed to bringing the backpack anyway. I also dont mind sacrificing photographic capabilities for lower weight. It works better for me in my hand, on a sling, or hung around my neck, and that is what keeps me shooting. This was perhaps the main reason I chose the D5600 over the D7500. If the whole package is too heavy, I am not bringing it with me and therefore getting no shots. If you are like me, you will love the lighter weight of the 55-200 VR despite its shortcomings. Overall, for a budget lens, its a solid choice. Not going to take the best pictures, but good enough for general photography. The MF does suck big time. But, the light weight is a huge plus for people like me. Its pretty hard to argue against getting this lens at under one forty, so I would say low price is also a huge plus. If you are ok with bringing two or more lenses but also want to keep the bag and camera light, this lens a great choice. I really want to rate it 4.5 stars, with a half star deduction for the poor MF. ... show more

This is my first time buying through a private seller especially saved with used like new. I was a little worried considering it’s a 10-year-old camera lens but it works perfectly just fine. I’m very grateful. It looks brand new.
