I have been looking for a new lens for my wildlife shooting. I already have the Tamron 150-600mm lens and does really well in good light, but very large as expected. This prime Nikon 300mm F4 PF lens was a shocking change, and I must say a pleasant one. This thing is even smaller than my 24-70mm lens, and a telephoto lens that is extremely sharp, something I have been looking forward to. The focusing ans SWM is very fast in even average light. In low light and depending on which focus mode you have can hunt, but again that is to be expected in AF-C mode. This lens in light, and pulls things up close and clear. I will keep this lens on my 750, or 610, or my 7100. Way to go Nikon! ... show more

I love this lens. It's light and compact and easy to carry around. It's sharp and focus is very fast. I've used it on both a Nikon D3500 and my new Nikon D500 and could not be happier.

This lens is excellent, I have many photos of local Hawks that show great feather detail. I use with a the 1.4lll tele-extender. Very light weight and easy to handle, very seldom mount on a tripod. Very pleased with this purchase.

Great lens! Love the fact that is so light and works great in low light conditions, such as forest photography. I use it mainly for Bird Photography with a 1.4x teleconverter and works great!

    • The best lens I have ever owned.
I do not think lenses can get any better than this one. Outstanding performer, razor sharp even with the TC-14E III 1.4x tele extender. The VR is also very efficient even with the extender.
