I was planning to get a D7500, but with the sun setting on DSLR, I started researching DSLM, and settled on the Z5 as a good balance of cost to capability. I ordered the FTZ kit, so I could still use my F mount lenses. THIS THING IS AWESOME!!! All the features of my old D7100, but full frame, smaller, lighter, and quieter. The clarity and ease of use is impressive. The pivot, touch screen display is solid and responsive. At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d like the electronic viewfinder, but it is exceptionally clear and sharp. Having worked with video cameras before, it was no different than a video viewfinder. The ability to preview the final shot comes in very handy. At first, I thought the rear control wheel seemed a little stiff, but quickly realized it prevents you from inadvertently changing settings. If you are looking for your first prosumer camera, or like me, forced to migrate from DSLR, I highly recommend the Z5! ... show more

Amazing deal when I got it for 1,199! The accessories are cheap, but get you going if you don't have any. The tripod sucks and broke before I even got to use it, you can't tighten the ball head enough before the base snaps off and the Z5 isn't a light camera so it needs to be able to clamp tight for still pictures!! ... show more

Great camera. Low light pics are so much better on a full frame. Shooting manual, everything is easy to adjust. Also, very happy with the lens. The Nikon Z5 is capable of excellent image quality whether shooting Raw or JPEG. Raw files provide impressive detail capture and good noise performance. Autofocus performance from the Z5 is quite good, whether shooting moving or static subjects. But video performance is not the camera's strong suit. For those migrating over from F-mount, previously unstabilized glass – mounted via Nikon's FTZ adapter – suddenly feels way steadier thanks to the in-body stabilization. And Nikon says the Z5's IS system can reduce shake by up to five stops (CIPA standard.
