OMG - JUST arrived a few hours ago. Waited for night to first test it out. Majorly impressed. Went out in my front yard and did not even have to turn on the illuminator to see Color even in the dark. Could even see INTO the darkened areas without the illuminator turned on. With the illuminator I could see a heck of a lot better but was absolutely impressed by what just ambient light was actually lighting up. Seems to lose a little color with the illuminator but guess that might be normal. Looks like a Night vision view. Looked at the sky and Damn, it looks great to. Tried to take a zoomed pick of Jupiter but Nah, to grainy. But I can almost swear I could see the moons with naked eye while zoomed in. No illuminator of course. Brought it back inside and went into a Blacked out room. With Illuminator on level 1. Could see and read anything without any problem at all. This is Day one, first 10 minutes of use and I am very impressed. Not a Toy but cheap (affordable) enough you could buy this for a kid and Make his freaking Night. Con - Only 1 so far. My Eye sight is only good at this range with Reading Glasses on, and they are not going to fit into the view cover, which I really wanted and love to think would be comfortable as all get out. I will find some Santa thin reading Glasses, and bet it will work out alright. Just have to hold them a few inches from my face at this time. Do I recommend these? Hell Yes. P.S. I will add that I bought these, kind of twice. First pair would not power on. Sent them back and was sent a new pair the same day. No wait for the return, Thanks Amazon. The Second pair (these) had an issue with the focus knob. First thought was *(&$&@%# I'm cursed. The knob would not turn more than a quarter turn before seeming to Bottom out in either direction. Against my on motto I forced the knob a bit and it clicked. Seems maybe the Knob was all the way set to infinity when the case was closed on it and would not let it turn properly. By just a tiny bit of forcing it to the closer focus it Clicked, then seems to be functioning properly. I have focused to and fro without issue since I did the forced Click. Works well but have to keep pushing the buttons to focus. Would be nice to just hold the button for a slow adjustment.

I saw many YouTube videos before committing to this product. Unlike the Nightowl, there are no design faults that you have deal with and make allowance for. The hood, framing the vision field, seals well against the face preventing entry of stray light. There is no problem using NiMH batteries and a charge indicator is always visible on the screen It allows viewing from as close as a few meters and the image is clear and distinct.     • Dead on arrival (check out function before Amazon return period elapses)
The unit worked when on usb power, but would not on battery mode (new batteries inserted, battery voltages checked, polarity in holder checked twice). The screen, on usb power mode, indicated dead batteries.....yeah, right. Seems there's a disconnect in the battery holder or compartment.

I live in a rural area very little ambient light first night off my deck I was looking about 150 yards out across a field and clear as day I could see a mouse on a log was so surprised I bought these for my property up northern minnesota due to bear issues I'm wondering if I really want to see what's out there. But that being said great product easy to setup and learn no complaints except maybe a would prefer a auto focus but the manual works fine ... show more
