First, I enjoy this. I wouldn’t take it backpacking, but if I were staying at a campground at one of my favorite state or national parks? Yeah, this will be a fun thing to have. What we have here isn’t what you may be thinking of when you hear “night vision”. At this price point you’re not getting high res motion capture in a device that captures every minute bit of ambient light and amplifies it to the point we can see by it. What we do have is a pretty good infrared emitter and collector. This device works by illuminating the area in front of you with an IR array inside the right “lens”. A camera element sensitive to IR in the left lens works just like the one in your phone and displays the image on a screen. Pretty cool. It doesn’t have the same ability to see distant detail, but for relatively local use, it’s fine. Ok, so some fun bits I liked playing with. There’s a visible light flashlight between the two lenses. Gives you the ability to quickly illuminate what you’re looking at if you need it. Just be aware one push of the button turns of a rapid strobe. Another press gives you a steady light. You also get three levels of IR illumination so you can make things brighter or illuminate further away with the press of a button. And for broad daylight? The camera sensor works just fine for that too! The unit itself really looks and feels like you’re using one of the pair of digital binoculars from the original Star Wars. That is definitely not a bad thing! The housing also has a thermometer on the bottom. Now, it’s in Celsius, but we should all have at least a passing knowledge of how it works at this point. The control buttons are on the top and you can turn the backlight on or off with one of the buttons. The camera focuses by turning a diopter at the front of the left lens. Mine took a small amount of pressure to turn it out of its locked position. There’s also some kind of lens filter on a string hanging off the button. I suppose it is to make some difference in how the IR sensor functions, but I didn’t really see much difference. In summary, this isn’t military grade NVGs. But at this price it’s a good solution for seeing what’s around you in the dark. It’s easy to use, and could be a great way to film wildlife in a camp site in the middle of the night.

This is my first night vision goggles and I am pleasantly surprised with the build quality and functionally of this product Like I said I do not have any experience with night vision goggles but they do everything I need for them to do, I am able to see quite clearly within 50 yds or so objects such as ppl, which I would not have known were there except for with these goggles I could clearly see. I got these for safety concerns while out at night, it adds an additional layer of protection while out camping and other unknown places. The only warning I would say is to make sure you get to know the functions and the buttons before you head out into the darkness as I did not and I ended up triping and falling because there is a strobe feature on these that I acidently activated and did not know about. I am sure there are better goggles out there but for my uses these are good enough for me. All in all a good find.

I have experience with military grade night vision equipment so considering what this unit sells for I really wasn’t expecting much. So, after reading some reviews I figured that I’d roll the dice and take a chance that it’d work marginally well. Boy am I glad I took that chance. These things are great and their performance is far beyond what I thought it would be. First, the unit arrives in a beautiful gift box. Just from the packaging alone I thought that its price should 4 times what it actually sells for. It comes in a beautiful zippered case which offers a fair amount of protection. The included strap is good quality and the instruction booklet tells you what you need to know to get up and running. The unit itself feels very well made. There’s nothing cheap feeling about it at all. It has some “heft” but isn’t at all heavy or unwieldy to handle. The control buttons on top of the unit all work well and are ergonomically positioned so you can access the functions you need without taking your eyes off the image you’re viewing. Basically, the controls are easier to use than texting on a cell phone. The first night I had the unit, we had a blackout which lasted for several hours. While Wifey and I were still in our home I decided to play with it and see how well it worked. I was actually shocked that I was able to see her and everything in our home with such clarity. Then I took it outside to see what was going on in n almost completely dark world. It was amazing and fun to see so much going on in the dark. It’s surprising to learn how much of the world actually comes to life in darkness. I still have a lot to learn regarding some of the functions but overall I am quite impressed and more than satisfied with the performance of these neat little night vision binoculars. I think you’ll be pretty satisfied as well. See you at night ! (Literally)
