Okay, so I got 3 different brands of night vision binos. This one has some pros over the other two much more expensive ones. First off, is the price. It's half and a third of the others. It's lighter and more compact, and it's in OD Green (always a plus for me. LoL). It's got great night vision and picture. I haven't used the recording and photo features yet, but I'm anxious to. Will show some pictures, if and when I do. The other two are huge. One barely fits in this fancy-schmancy bino chest rig I got, IF I turn it sideways and jam it in. The bigger one, forgettabout it. But this one easily fits in that rig, and another tactical chest rig I put it in. I bet it would fit into a lot of emt pouches. Now, the DOWNSIDES are, you can't hold it to your eyes like a set of binos. Have to hold it out an inch or two away from your face. And two, it doesn't SEEM super durable. Like, if you dropped it on some rocks or concrete, or landed on it, it would probably break. Whereas the more expensive ones seem like they can take a beating. So there's your trade-off. I kinda prefer this one over those in a lot of ways, because of its portability. I may try to put some kind of protective glove or case or rubber/neoprene or something around it for longevity. These aren't binoculars in the true sense of the word. The right eyepiece is in fact, an eyepiece. The left side is the infrared lens that allows the night vision component. This all projects to a large viewscreen at the back. Honestly, typical male, I charged it up and started trying to use it without reading. Only to find out I was holding the unit BACKWARDS. That's due to the binocular nomenclature, and trying to use the two apparent (but not actual) eyepieces. You WILL need to read the manual, as I couldn't get the unit to power on until I did. First impressions were the unit felt cheap; upon use, I became more pleased with the capabilities. The infrared projects long distance, and with functional clarity. No, you're not going to read license plates down the street, but I can easily tell if it's an animal versus a person at the gate of our county road property which is 1/4 mile away. I was pleasantly surprised at the capability given the unit's price point. If you're expecting some level of functionality that resembles TV/movies, be realistic. Those units run $2500 and up. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. While my fantasy of having a set of night vision goggles like in the movies may never happen, having something that is kind of like that is a compromise i can handle. There have been a good deal of night vision binoculars or goggles out there lately, that seem to cater to hunting and fishing. These devices often allow you to record what you see which is nice. There is a main setback to this invention. The night vision is not perfect or green like in the movies. Also, and most importantly these seem to still require some sort of nearby light source to make things happen. I just ventures out into an open outdoor area that is heavily wooded. This was around 4:00 a.m. The moon seems to be needed as the natural light source that will then allow the night vision to work. I am now curious about what would happen if there was a bunch of lightning bugs out and the way they would look through the goggles. I am happy with what i can see through the lens. You have to pay attention and focus on the screen when is super dark places. The key is to focus on the fine details. I was a but confused at first when walking in the open farmland, but soon learned to focus on the ground, because the details really came through well with the goggles. I am very happy the tiff card is included, because that is rare with electronic video capture equipment. This arrived about seventy percent charged so the initial time of recharge was not long. The operation was super simple to catch on to. I always recommend reading the instruction manual before use, though the basic functions of this are self explanatory. This comes with a nice neck strap which is essential for hiking, or if you are in a tree stand trying to capture some night deer action. The camouflaged colors that make up the design, only adds to the legitimacy of the outdoors theme. To conclude, i am super happy with this device and recommend it. ... show more

This unit delivers night vision in a very limited range. It's much better with the IR light. But, there is a problem with this design. You, the user, are looking at what is effectively a small cell phone screen while using this device. You are light up like a flashlight in the dark, effectively losing your biological night vision and certainly advertising your presence to whatever you are trying to look at through this thing. On the other hand, if you want to give your kids some "night vision" gear to play with, well then you will always be able to see exactly where they are while using it.
