I highly recommend this piece of furniture and the dealer, Spencer Discount Furnitrue. This is my first review on Amazon. I was nervous when I ordered this Cube Bed—it is the biggest purchase (both in size and $$$) that I have ever made on line. I read these reviews and it seemed like exactly what I needed to make my smallish study into a comfortable inviting guestroom (usually guests were relegated to a series of aerobeds that worked ‘til they didn’t). I did the measuring and ordered the queen size. It is perfect! It is easy to set up as a bed. The finish on the piece (I got the cherry) is gorgeous. It is actually more formal and polished than the picture on line (which looks more rustic). It is sturdy and made with solid wood panels and sturdy latches and fittings. It took my adult son a couple leisurely hours to assemble on his own. He reports that it is very comfortable (“the most comfortable temporary bed I have ever slept on”). I also have to give a BIG shout out to Spencer Discount Furniture. I got an initial email from them discussing scheduling delivery and I had some questions and I called them and Chad was great! He patiently answered my questions. When the pieces were delivered, my son and I unpacked them and found a piece had broken off one of the major component parts. This had clearly happened in shipping. I immediately sent an email with pictures and then called Spencer. Chad not only answered, but remembered our previous conversation. He immediately stated he would send a replacement component the next day. We received the replacement part and it was perfect. I give this piece a 5 star rating despite the need to replace a component because things can get hurt in cross-country transit (it shipped from Arizona and I am in Maryland). All you can ask is that there is prompt, courteous and satisfactory follow up. I got that and am extremely pleased with this beautiful and functional piece of furniture. ... show more

This was a bit pricey but we really love the way it looks and our guest loved the way it slept. So glad to have something that takes up a smaller footprint and still provides good comfort to our guests. Be aware it is a bit heavy to lift off the lid to open the cabinet. I have back issues and have to be careful to do it the way they explain in the video instructions. Still if you are smaller or lifting something a bit heavier is an issue this would not be a good choice. Works great for us. Super pleased with the quality and the look. We decorate the top with stuff when it is not in use and it becomes a nice addition to the room ... show more

I purchased this murphy bed after doing quite a bit of research. I'm really glad I waited until the decision felt right. This bed was a dream to assemble. Everything aligned perfectly. There were 2 of us, but I think I could've done it on my own. It really wasn't hard, and the individual pieces weren't that heavy. I waited to do a review until someone had slept on it. I've had a guest now, and he said it was incredibly comfortable to sleep on. It's so easy and fast to set up, it's easy to have an impromptu overnight guest. No planning required. Murphy beds are always quite expensive, so relatively speaking, this one is actually quite reasonable. And for that, I didn't have to anchor the bed to the wall (I rent), there was nothing to install, and the cabinet design means that it fits easily into a room used for other purposes. The cherry finish is also really beautiful, and it's apparent that this is real wood, not particle board. For the most part I am very pleased with the bed. Delivery was pain free. I hired a Task Rabbit to have it assembled so I can’t comment on that. The color is exactly as shown. The construction is completely of solid wood. I’ve used it for two separate house houseguests and they said it was comfortable.there is no back panel so it must be agains a wall. There is enough storage for two pillows and comforters. I have one major concern. When setting up or closing the bed the unit creaks. That’s why a star was removed. I purchased this for Christmas guest. 8 months later and I can honestly review this purchase and give it a AAA+. First, I must give a top grade for how it was delivered. It was extremely well packaged, communication was consistent and clear and it was delivered as it was stated, when it was stated. In addition, the delivery man was so extremely nice. Secondly, the written directions were pretty clear. There was a video that could be watched but the video didn't match the written directions. The good news is that the written current directions provided an easier set-up than what the video displayed. Thus, set-up went well. The cabinet fits well in the room and it compliments the rooms decor. The only adjustment I tried to accommodate is finding items to cover the top handle holes so it could really look like a regular cabinet. Overall, very pleased with the convenience of setting it up and breaking it down with the comfort of the mattress. We wanted and needed a murphy bed option and this was the best decision we ever made. ... show more

The cabinet is beautiful, the wood is dark (cherry) and polished to a handsome glow. This is not IKEA. It was easy to assemble following the video and directions and, while converting it does require some lifting, it only takes a minute. The cover is easier to remove using the tilt method shown, so follow their advice. This company is awesome. I had a small problem and they contacted me directly to resolve it.
