I’m using it for a 10g 35cm cube. I think it’s almost perfect, my plants are happy and there’s very little algae, but programming it is key. Growth is great, I set it up a month ago, the lights are on 10 hours at 35% only and no blue light/no night cycle. It just has one drawback, but it’s substantial. I wish it had a swivel because I want to just flip it out of the way when doing maintenance, if the light gets accidentally hit it’s leverage could crack the rimless panel it’s clamped on to. 04/24/2023: UPDATE! Just received my 2nd light and it works perfectly. I am so happy! I included a photo of my phone light vs the aquarium light to show how bright it is. Its perfect for my planted guppy tank. It’s small/compact, but bright/powerful and can lay directly on the tank lid or it can be clipped on the side/back. The clip is a little snug around the black plastic trim rim of my 10 gallon tank. I would say that for me this was definitely worth the price and very affordable in comparison to some bigger name brands. Also very fast delivery! This 2nd light is a 5/5, but I’m still giving a 4/5 just because my 1st light didn’t work and I have to return it. 04/22/2023: I’m sad to say that straight out of the box, it didn’t work at all. It’s like it’s getting no power at all. I tried holding the buttons down like the instructions say, that did not work. I pushed all the buttons, nothing. I will be sending this back and purchasing a second one. My sister has this same light on her 30 gallon planted aquarium and it has worked extremely well. Her plants and guppies thrive. I am hoping to achieve the same thing with my own planted guppy tank so I really want this light to work for me, it’s extremely affordable. *IF/WHEN* it works, it’s definitely worth the price when compared to some of the bigger name brands. This is the perfect led light for my small transfer tank. I think a couple of these works fine for medium tank. Love the built-in timer. Set it and forget it. Meaning, set the daylight, evening light, nite light and off. Each setting reduces the amount of light you need during the cycle of 24 hrs. I don't even use 100%. - Brightness is good for a 5.5 gallon. I haven't had it long enough yet to observe plant or algae growth. - Clip seems sturdy, but it is a fixed alignment with no adjustment. - When mounted lengthwise on a rectangular tank, the light bar does not span the whole length of the tank, nor is it in the middle, so there's more light on the side under the light than the other. - The light is not horizontal. So it throws a lot of light outside one side of the aquarium. - If you sit near it, make sure it is below your eye level or else the bulbs will be in your peripheral vision. - The back of the light gets pretty hot. A well ventilated location seems necessary. Timer The clock and settings reset on loss of power. So I can't rely on it. Further, I could set the time but couldn't set the on/off schedule. So I plugged it into my timer plug. When my plug switches on, the light takes a minute to turn on. If you want a light with a reliable built in timer, this is not for you. If you want to control brightness and/or color, this is not easy. If your tank is bigger than 5 or 10 gallons and rectangular, this won't do. ... show more
