I’ve been really happy with this 2‑pack of Nicpro CP1000 mechanical carpenter pencils. They feel solid in the hand, and the design makes them much easier to use than traditional flat carpenter pencils that need constant sharpening. The included sharpener works well and keeps the lead to a fine point without wasting material. The pencils feed smoothly, the grip is comfortable, and the lead holds up nicely when marking wood, metal, or other surfaces. Having two in the pack is convenient. Everything is top notch. I wanted a great pencil set because I started learning a foreign language. I also knew I would be taking voluminous notes. I was flying through erasers and noticed they did a poor job of actually erasing my mistakes. Every time I would use a different pencil and lead, the first thing I noticed was the lead was constantly breaking. Very frustrating. I was going through the lead refills too quickly. When I needed to correct my mistakes or add to my notes, if I had written on the page already, the lead would smear easily, and the erasers did not do a good job of getting rid of the writing when I wanted to rewrite. Then I realized the pencil did not feel comfortable in my hand when I was using it for over an hour. After I opened and started using this new set of pencils, lead refills, with the Nic-Pro erasers, I noticed all the problems I wrote about above were no longer an issue for me! It was truly amazing. I actually shared two pencils, lead and two small erasers and one big Nic-Pro eraser with a friend who is also learning this same foreign language. She too has really enjoyed these products and this showed me (a) not all mechanical pencils are the same, (b) even if I used the correct lead for the pencil, not all lead writes and erases very well. (c) Not all erasers perform the same. These Nic-Pro erasers made having to erase and rewrite not so frustrating. In fact, they worked so well, once you erase, it is hard to even know you wrote before on that same area. I really didn’t know what I was missing until I bought this set and another set. Please know this set met all of my needs and more. I honestly can’t say enough about how these pencils, lead, and Nic-Pro erasers have made my life easier. The case is actually pretty nice and stores everything included very nicely. I firmly believe Nic-Pro erasers are the best and they are not cheap! Thank you for making an amazing product that is also very price competitive to other manufacturers.

I have several of these in my woodworking shop. Just like reading glasses, I don't want to be too far away from them. Quick, easy, comfortable in my apron pocket. These mechanical carpenter pencils are designed for construction or woodworking tasks where a standard pencil tip would break too easily. The longer metal nose allows the lead to reach into tight spaces such as between boards or inside drilled holes, which is especially useful for marking cut lines. The included refills are a nice addition since carpenter leads can wear down quickly during heavy use. One practical detail is that the flat lead shape helps prevent rolling when placed on a workbench.
