There was some trouble shooting that I had to work thru. I kept putting in the bobbin backwards, as all my other machines I have had go in the opposite direction! I also flipped over the plastic piece that thread sits on, on the spindle. Because the tread kept breaking, as it has a piece of styrofoam on it that did not allow some of the spools to spin freely. Once I got these bugs worked out, IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM. I have had the machine for about 3 YEARS NOW. I love it, it works great for simple sewing projects! I work at home for an insurance company as an internal helpline. Sometimes I have 15-20 min between calls. During this time I sew with this machine. When I get a call, I just lift it out of the way with one hand. I recently had to take it a part to clean it, I lost the plastic cover that goes over the bobbin and the 2 screws. I cut a cover to fit, out of an old credit card, works great! It still sews with out the 2 screws, but wish I could get replacements! I love this little machine it is so convenient. I bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter for Christmas. This is the perfect starter sewing machine. It is small in size and has several different stitches to choose from. It works great. She is so excited to start sewing projects. 11/14/17 After using the sewing machine only a couple of times the foot pedal no longer worked. She could still use the machine with the lever but that didn’t work very well to stop quickly. While using the needle stopped picking up the thread, couldn’t stop quickly enough & thread got all bunched up in bobbin. Couldn’t get it to work after that. I bought this sewing machine based open the number of good reviews thinking it would be a good starter machine for my 8-year-old daughter who is really into making dresses for her dolls. Before giving it to my daughter, I decided to test it myself. It's easy to thread the machine except when you get to the part when you need to put the thread in the needle--it's very frustrating. If you manage to put the thread in the needle, sewing is challenging: the fabric jams in the machine, the thread breaks, and the stitches are not consistent. We returned the machine and got one from another manufacturer that starts with the letter B (unfortunately, it costs almost 5 times as much). The more expensive one is smooth as butter, threads the needle automatically (what?!), and has many beautiful stitches. My daughter has been happily stitching on her own for hours now. You get what you pay for. Save yourself the headache and get a brand-name sewing machine you will enjoy. ... show more

My original review is below but here is my updated one: So my first machine didn't sew good at all it didn't watch to make the stitch and I wrote a bad review but the seller was quick to help me and sent me a new (but still used) machine. They claimed it to be a new machine but the sewing machine was very dirty and used. But I said hey they refunded me my money plus sent me a different machine. But once I received that machine I went running to my mother in laws house to give my niece her present again, only to open it and plug it in and it not work again. She was so sad :( so I followed all the instructions in the manual and nothing the needle kept hitting the bottom plate. I emailed the seller and they were very quick to respond to me. They have amazing customer service they tried to help my out so much but decided just to send them back the sewing machine. I gave this a 4star because of the amazing customer service but not for the sewing machine. I decided to buy a normal $65 sewing machine at Walmart with a 2year warranty plan and my niece has not had any problem. If you are looking for a good sewing machine for your child or a little one I would recommend to just get a normal one. But if you want to take a chance on this machine then go for it, you might get lucky with a good working sewing machine but it is not worth the money because it will not last long. My niece used this to sew a rectangle and now it isn't working. She is trying to sew but the machine won't create any stitches. It has a problem grabbing the bottom thread in the bobbin I really like this machine for her because it's so small and nice but now she can't use it at all ... show more

For what this machine is and what its worth, I thought it was a great deal. I had to go out of town for a week and didnt want to stop some of my projects for my etsy business, nor did I want to take my very expensive machine on a flight with the fear of the bag may be checked in and thrown around in the baggage area. Pros: light weight, can use any thread, although I do recommend finding skinnier spools of thread so that it can fit on the thread holder. I used the first four stitches, they worked wonderful. Machine has an auto option (button next to the ruler) I found that to be very useful. Bobbin works great, although I was kinda freaking out at first when winding a bobbin, the presser foot cannot be shut off while winding a bobbin, it goes with it.... which is expected from this very inexpensive machine. LED light was great. Reverse was great. I was sewing four layers of non pill fleece here and there - thick layers were easy to sew. Small presser foot is awesome to get in the small details of finishing your projects. CONS: not very universal needle friendly, I reccomend buying needles and using needles close to what the machine comes with. The foot pedal is really small and kinda hard to press. This machine has be in a certain position when ready to sew, or you will have to keep re threading, due to moving the machine and lose of thread in the process.. if that makes sense. This machine is indefinably a lot slower than my brother machine. great beginner machine, great for travel and if you have a kid who is interested in learning how to sew, this machine is perfect! ... show more
