I bought this sewing machine for me to do small sewing around the house and do-it-yourself crafts. Last time I bought an iron-on patch to fix my son’s pants, but it didn’t stay on, so I had to hand sew it on. It took me forever to finish it, that’s why I decide to buy this machine. I followed the instruction on the manual to set it up and understand how it works. I think it’s great for a beginner like me. I don’t use it often, so I just need a light weight and compact machine, so it doesn’t take a lot of space for usage and storage. One minor thing which I think they can be improved is the table connect with the sewing machine is not stable. The machine comes with a cover to cover the needle which I think it’s great for safety reason especially when I have kids at home. I think it is reasonable price as well. Got this for my granddaughter who is 8 this for Christmas....I have been teaching her how to sew with my Janome full size sewing machine. She wanted a "Real" sewing machine and not a play one...so this machine actually turned out to be absolutely perfect for us! She can make real items and we can continue her sewing lessons on my machine and now on hers as she can follow along right beside me. Loved the guard that can still protect those little fingers as she experiments on her own! Well worth every penny and priceless in creating memories! ... show more

So far so good. Even though I found myself using it more than my 5 year old who this is intended for, it works just like mommy’s big machine and is safe to use with the safety shield. I like the fact that it has a battery operated option just in case an outlet isn’t conveniently located. Made some Barbie clothes with ease and the stitch is fantastic. Once my little one gains confidence in her ability to sew I can see her having years of fun making stuff on her own. Very light weight and sturdy. Only one stitch available from what I can see but that’s just perfect for beginners. Would probably recommend for children 6 and up to adults. ... show more

    • A nightmare to sew with this machine!
I bought this awhile back for my 8 year old granddaughter after researching machines for hours! It was a Christmas gift. I want you to know that I have been sewing for over 50 years, so I do know what I am doing. This machine was so frustrating I wanted to throw it out the window! I put it away, and when she came back this summer, we tried again. This machine is just so ridiculous. You MIGHT get a few stitches, and then the thread breaks, or the bobbin tension is way off and the stitches are awful!! I have worked on it for hours determined to find out what I was doing wrong, and get it working for her. It is not me... it is this cheap machine! The wheel is so hard to turn, the bobbin tension is a nightmare. Also the needle is put in place with a screw, not a lever. There is NO way you could ever get the shortest screw driver in that space to tighten the screw. I just gave up and I would never let my granddaughter ever try to keep this thing sewing correctly, because with all my experience, I can not!! I AM DONE!! ... show more

    • Stops and hangs up
Got this for my 6 year old granddaughter. I had read several reviews that it wasn't a good product but got it because of the needle guard. She is able to sew with it by herself, but the machine will hang up quite often and it has to be turned off and the knob moved. She grew frustrated very easily with it and so did I. But when it works it is the perfect thing for her to learn on. The price and the needle guard are wonderful.....just wish that it didn't hang up so much. ... show more

She loved it, she was trying to make doll clothes by taping the material together so I thought this would be a great tool for teaching her to sew and allow her to use her creativity. I have gotten this for my grand daughter for Christmas. Ive sewed for years and this little machine is just ideal for a beginner like her. I like the fact that it has a safety cover at the needle. I have had an experience with a straight needle through the finger and its no fun. So that cover will keep her little fingers safe. Love this little machine. ... show more
