First, I gave this product a one star because I received it damaged. I was disappointed, because I did my research. I took my time and took a recommendation from an youtuber. It had great reviews on the durability, and after putting it together I was impressed with the sturdiness. It was exactly what I needed. However, I had to return it. I did receive a replacement after being reached out by the seller. Not only did I receive the replacement, I also got the best customer service assistance from Kelli.     • Stable Overhead Ring Light Stand With a Few Design Quirks

I went into this purchase unsure because of the mixed reviews, but so far it has been performing well for my needs. I use it for overhead photos and videos where reducing shadows is important, and the ring light does a good job of evening out the lighting. The phone/camera bracket is something I’m keeping an eye on. Unlike another device I own with an overly strong spring that snaps shut quickly, this one opens more gently and doesn’t snap back as aggressively. It holds my phone tightly, but the design doesn’t wrap around the phone—there’s no lip or curved edge—so I make sure not to insert the phone with the camera facing the same direction as the pressure point. The bending arm feels strong and secure, and the weighted base helps keep everything stable. Positioning the arm so it leans over the “foot” of the base gives the best counterbalance. The arm attaches to the base post with a simple insert-and-tighten setup. The side screw is functional but could be improved; it applies pressure rather than threading through to lock against the post, which caused the arm to tilt slightly until I realized what was happening. Not a deal breaker, but definitely an area for refinement. A pleasant surprise was the Bluetooth remote, which I completely overlooked in the listing. It paired instantly with my Android phone, and both buttons work perfectly for taking photos. When the camera isn’t open, the buttons adjust the phone’s volume, which is an amusing side effect. If you don’t want to use the remote, all the light controls—brightness, temperature, and power—are on the inline cord, which is very convenient. The cord could be a bit longer, but it’s still workable. At this point, I feel it’s a good value and I’m happy with it. If anything changes with longer use, I’ll update my review, but for now it’s meeting my expectations for overhead video and photography work. ... show more

I've had this lamp for about a year now, and I still love it. It's easy to adjust, holds up really well over time, and provides the perfect lighting. The phone holder works well, but sometimes the ring of the light itself cuts into the frame. This isn't a problem with overhead shots, but if you're working on a wall and pointing the light in a different direction you may have to make some adjustments with your camera. The lamp is nice and sturdy, I like that the base is a little heavier and helps keep it stable. The arm is adjustable in a lot of different ways which makes it pretty easy to get the right angle and I like that it has the phone holder in the center for recording as well. Unfortunately, after only a couple of uses it just started turning off on it's own and seemingly shorting out because I can't turn it back on - the buttons that have a blue glowing light behind them when it's receiving power go dark, and unplugging it and plugging it back in several times doesn't fix it. I think it gets too hot and then shorts out or something but it isn't giving me a lot of confidence in the safety of the power cord or it's wiring, since there's no particular rhyme or reason to when it completely shuts off and loses power. I've tested it in various plugs, different types and brands of cubes, some new and some used ones, and it still does the same thing. I'm not sure if mine is just defective or what but I am bummer since it was rated so highly. ... show more
