I did some drilling to attach my throttle linkage and 700 R4 throttle valve cable. My 65 el Camino originally had a power glide. The intake manifold and Carburetor is off of a 71 elcamino. This carburetor comes with a base gasket, which is a rectangle flange with only two holes drilled into the gasket just like the original carburetor head. I went ahead and carefully drilled out the other two holes into the gasket. So now I have four studs holding the carburetor down. This is not necessary, but for me, I think it's the right thing to do. Also the choke thermostat on this carburetor uses a metal line, going into the intake manifold, and then attaching to the rear of the carburetor. My manifold had the thermostat on the intake manifold, which is different than the carburetor mounted thermostat spring. . I just put a pull spring on the choke linkage and to hold it open all the time. I can see where this carburetor fits different applications and I think it's a good choice. I have no issues. No leaks no problems. Everything is great.

I was getting 9mpg with a 4bbl Edelbrock on a mild 350, pit this carb on and it fired right up out of the box. No adjustment needed, I ran it on a 300 mile trip and averaged 17mpg and it ran much better with the 2bbl carb. Make sure to use two fuel filters and it will be good to go!

Seemed to work well after install, but tried starting second day and locked down motor with piston full of fuel. One piston fired before gas filled piston locked down. Motor has bent rod and crank now. Tried saving a few bucks ordering this one and now I'm looking at a whole motor build again. Only had about 10k on motor at time. Won't know full extent of damage until full breakdown. I've received a replacement carb but now only have blown motor to put it on. LOTS of work ahead of me now.

Buy a vacuum cap kit with it. Lots more ports then the original one. other than that it's great.

This is a large base carb, small base are almost impossible to find which was what mine is. I was able to get an adapter plate and the carb fit perfect and engine runs great with this carb.

I was utterly amazed at how great this carburetor looked when I first got it. Can have all the parts and looked almost identical to my original 2gc Rochester carburetor. However, I'm not sure I trust the quality of the materials. I haven't passed a single drop of gasoline through this thing yet and already the brass butterfly valves are corroding. The base material looks like it will rust in no time, and the linkage is obviously very cheap steel. It seems like an amazing value for the money but like I said I'm not sure if I can trust it or not.

I replaced my Rochester Quadrajet with this 2GC and used a 4 to 2 barrel adapter from Mr gasket for my intake on a Chevy 350 (5.7L). I had trouble with the 4 barrel while climbing and descending hills with fuel flooding and starving. With this carburetor I was able to run up and down hills without missing a beat. 100% improvement and noticeable gains in fuel economy. Only adjustments made were to the choke and idle. Note that this carburetor is taller than a quadrajet, and your original air cleaner will not work without an adapter (they sell them at the auto parts store as a $10 kit). In my truck, I cannot close the hood with the taller carb, adapter and stock air cleaner. I will have to either modify the hood or find a shorter air cleaner.
