This is a review I've been meaning to do for a year now... but as an "after hours" professional I wanted to wait until I could truthfully speak my mind about any brand of PLA. Durmaic had this big bold claim back in the day about becoming your "go to" filament if you gave them a chance... well, I have to admit they were right. To give you my back story- I run a small game design, music product, and 3d printing brand called "Fishwife Games". I primarily sell stuff via a tabletop role playing game distribution site, and all my stuff is download digital format. In the interest of 3d printing, I design and sell STL files- still, I need to test print what I sell before it goes up for purchase and download. I do try different brands of PLA to see what problems can occur, just as much as I've tried different 3d printers. When it comes to not wanting to deal with the hassles now, and my own stuff- I keep rolls of Duramic PLA hooked up to the 3d printers. Hatchbox I'll admit runs along side from time to time, but I've gotten so that I prefer Duramic. Duramic has a pretty good balance of what I call "chewiness"... its not very brittle- but then not so "chewy" (or bendy, or whatever you want to call it) that there's a sacrifice on detail or difficulty in cleaning up small parts. Now- while we are talking about small parts- that's the win for me. What I design in stuff for miniature gaming- things are set on what is called "28mm scale (to 30mm or "classic 28mm")"... which means stuff is roughly at a 1:64 normal scale... a lot of detail, very small, very easy to break with trying to get the supports off during clean up (yeah, most stuff requires supports- I prefer Tree supports myself). These elements matter- from tiny detail to forgiveness when my tired old eyes and clumsy hands are trying to remove something off a 2 hour+ print without breaking it. Some filaments I've had to give up on, so far Duramic has come in through. I must say if asked about the difference between PLA and PLA Plus with Duramic I haven't really come to a conclusion yet- I'll leave that to the manufacturer to answer. I've provided some images of some of the custom things that I've designed and test printed. While alot of it will end up being flat blacked and painted over I must say that color matters when you are taking sample photos. That's what I want to finish up talking about. All Duramic filament has been good to me, don't get me wrong, but if you are going to do some small detail stuff like this, and unpainted at that, then color selection can matter. I have several colors of Duramic lying in inventory but so far I've only used the light green, gray, silver (not silk), cyanblue, and yellow. I'll give my ratings for each below based on my particular needs. Early Winner- Cyanblue! See the little blue robot- that's the only thing I've printed so far with this color but WOW do the details pop with it! the cyanblue pulls in the right amount of light and shading. I don't know how well it is yet with hiding filing and clip off points but it certainly does a good job representing the little details. Its a nice color, and it pulls in light well. Reliable Winner- I love the light green. I've just finished my first roll of it and I have at least two or three more waiting under my work table. It shows just enough details under the light while also hiding blemishes well. Detail does pale in comparison to that blue, but if you are worried about the little nicks, sanding scuff marks, etc. showing up too much then go with the light green. Old Standard- Gray. A medium gray is generally the standard tone for printing small miniatures and such due to its ability to show details well in light. Sometimes it tends to show the imperfections a bit more so I prefer the light green. Still, if you need a good medium, go with gray. Not So Sure About- Yellow. The little mushroom is the first thing I've printed with my new yellow roll and I'm not so sure about it. I must say that this is not Duramic's fault- yellow is not the easiest on showing off small details as far as colors go. It will be fine once a coat of flat black is on it, but for an unpainted show off tone I don't know if I'd recommend it for small miniatures. I still plan to run through the roll though. Least Fave I Have To Admit- Silver (not silk). Like yellow, this is not really the manufacturers fault. I also must say that I've done some larger, non-gaming pieces in this plastic that turned out beautifully. What i have found with the silver though is that it is bad for showing off sanding blemishes and other assorted printing/clean up imperfections. You know how plastic tends to "whiten" a bit when it bends or something is scrapped against it?- the silver does this well. Granted, its not a bad plastic- I'll finish out the roll- but for here on out I'll probably avoid it unless I'm doing stuff that is bigger and calls for a metallic look unpainted. All that said above, I have to give Duramic 5 stars. Put a little thought into color if you can when doing high detail work- but otherwise the filament should continue to be a reliable "go to" as they claim.

So I went all out with this one and printed the biggest, most complex print on the Prusa CORE One sample print thumb drive: the “lighthouse without benchy” print. At 22 hours of total print time and spanning the entire capacity of my printer, this was a big risk for a filament I’ve never used before. I think the results speak for themselves. While many filament manufacturers grossly exaggerate their claims when it comes to color (ever order a “metallic silver” “silk” filament that was just a boring gray when it arrived?), this stuff looks as close to granite as you’ll probably ever get out of PLA. It has a bit of the texture too, when you touch it! Unfortunately this print used up 2/3 of the kilo I bought, but I’ll definitely be buying more. This filament was very easy to work with and rendered even minute details relatively accurately compared to the model. There were no noticeable adhesion issues — it simply worked, with default settings. It also popped right off the tray when I was done; no annoying removal issues. Besides the fact that this is perfect for any kind of “statue” type look you may be going for, the color is also ideal because it’s very multifaceted. I liked that the gray was just close enough to blue to work for the wave hitting the lighthouse, while also being obviously gray enough to represent the stones on the beach, and light enough to portray the lighthouse itself. I’m sure the same would be true of other models — and again, this color makes little details very easy to see. I’m kind of rambling now, so I’ll wrap up, but I’d say this is now officially one of my top two favourite filaments, along with one of the shimmery multicolored silk filaments I bought this week. Definitely recommend!

This is my favorite filament I've tried so far. I've tried quite a few. I have an ender 3 with a direct drive kit. This stuff is amazing and even does great outdoors, especially the white color. I have prints that have been outside for over a year with this filament and haven't had any issues. I will say it prints better at around 220C. I actually like that it prints at a higher temperature, it seems to withstand heat and UV better than any other PLA+ I've tried. I get really clean prints with it and I can't really fault it. the only issue I had was at first I had some clogging issues. These issues were solved with printing at a higher temperature. I'm dragging my feet on recommending it because I'm afraid the price will go up and there will be less available. Really great in terms of strength. I have one print in particular holding an Ice auger in my garage that's been there for about a year and a half. The auger isn't light either. According to the amazon listing it weighs 32 lbs. it's about a $500 auger and I trust this filament to hold it up on the wall. I really can't say enough about how good this stuff has been for me. It performs better than you would expect from PLA+. I'd really like to see it tested against other brands and other types like PETG and Nylon. You're probably thinking I work for the company or I get free stuff. I'm not but I certainly wouldn't say no (clears throat loudly). Bottom line is: It's my favorite PLA+ filament and a great quality product. This is my go to filament and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. I'd guess I've used around 10 KG of this and will order more in the future. The only time I get anything else is on Black Friday I seem to be able to find bulk pricing for an insanely good price. But I'm regretting not spending the money on this instead.

Let me start out with saying that this is fantastic PLA. I've already gone through 4 spools in two months, and not once did I encounter any jams, adhesion problems, or printing inconsistencies. They recommend running it at 220°C, which is higher recommendation than most other PLAs I've used, but it worked great. I have ZERO issues with the PLA itself. The build mat/surface is another story. My bed is 200 x 200 and there is at least 1 cm of exposed build plate on all sides with this mat. So the build mat is closer to 180 x 180. The build mat totally locks onto the PLA like an alligator on prey. You do NOT need a brim with this mat; however, sometimes it refuses to let go to the point that it actually RIPS instead. It's also VERY heat sensitive. If you don't let the bed cool down completely after a part, the build mat can actually stretch and deform. Once it stretches, it can't go back to its original shape and therefore becomes unusable at that spot. Additionally, if your bed isn't perfectly level, the PLA actually seems to *embed* itself into mat. It's as though the mat melts under direct contact with the nozzle and fuses with the PLA. I've gone through all four of the build mats that I received with my PLA spools. Two were lost to tearing, two were lost to stretching while the plate was still cooling down. DURAMIC needs to find a better balance. (As an aside, whether or not the plate should cool down before removing the part is for purists to argue. I've never had a distortion issue while taking parts off a hot build plate with painter's tape, so don't bother arguing about whether a full cooldown is "proper".) So, DEFINITELY get the PLA. This is really good stuff and I'm very impressed with it so far. The build mat on the other hand is incredibly finicky. It really holds onto the part, but it seems like it holds on TOO much. I'm going back to painters tape for now.

Ive bought duramic pla+ many times in the past and have great print results with it. They put out one of the most consistent lines of filament and I don't have to change my print settings too often. The flow rate is often very close kilogram to kilogram. The colors are what you would expect, slightly glossy and vibrant. I use a lot of black and white for everyday prototypes but have used most of their colors at this point. Bone white and marble being my favorites. The marble is great as is for statues. The bone white is a great Tanisha color and looked great printing a T-Rex fossils. Their strength seems to line up with what they describe in their product description and is one of my main reasons for being a return customer. Some manufacturers " pla plus" is often just pla rebranded as high strength but duramic prints are very durable. I can often get away with using less walls and lower infill to get the same results as other brands. Their claim of 98% +/- .02mm is realistic as with a fresh roll I don't have any over/under extrusion issues. I have had a couple rolls that weren't properly dried or maybe were old stock but their customer service agent Tina has quickly taken care of me every time. So If you're looking for a high quality tough filament look no further, duramic pla plus has you covered. They also have deals pretty regularly if you want to try them for the first time.

This filament has been excellent to work with! The color is a rich bronze that looks even better in person. It prints smoothly with consistent extrusion and no stringing or clogging issues. The PLA+ feels stronger and more durable than standard PLA, making it great for both decorative and functional prints. Bed adhesion was great right out of the box, and the finish came out clean and professional. Highly recommend for anyone who wants reliable, high-quality results!

Prints well but not for every printer. My solvol 7 machine refuses to load this filament. It does load and run well in my Enders 3 and 5 pro, Elegoo Neptune, and Prusa i3. I highly suggest you run this through a hardened nozzle. In my experience it chews up brass nozzles pretty quick. Results on quality of print vary depending on your printer and slicer settings but it does pretty well in the above mentioned machines. All my machines are or have been converted to direct drive so I cannot say how well this runs through a standard bowden. Great results at 210 nozzle, 60 bed, 80 to 100mm speed. It does seem like a slow print speed but me Enders don't print anything well over 100mm speed and this material is rated for that anyway. Glow in the dark quality is pretty good and it charges better and stays glowing much longer when exposed to UV light. Works fine with natural or artificial light but it does not glow quite as bright or as long when exposed to other light sources. The material is spooled very well on a cardboard spool and rolls off smooth and even.
