This is an excellent value but a bit shiny. I have a dozen or more of the New Brothreads spools of color and they work fine for everyday patch/tear sewing as well as embroidery. When used in the everyday sewing, the shiny of some colors really stands out, and this is one of them. Otherwise, no complaints as this is a positive using for embroidery. It's very strong for the diameter and there is lots of thread if only using it for sewing instead of drawing pictures.

I use this for the top thread in my long-arm quilting machine. I love the sheen, and it is strong enough not to break or fray. I bought Warm Gray, which I find works great as a neutral color that blends well on most of my quilts.
