Love this version of the Kindle! It's small and easy to carry and handle when sitting in crowded waiting rooms or standing in lines. It's light, and the operating system/interface is intuitive and easy to figure out. The screen can be adjusted for lightness and you can really make the reading easy on your eyes. Got this newest 16GB Kindle for my sibling because they’re the definition of a book nerd — like, they’ll read in the car, in line at the store, even while heating up ramen. This thing is basically their new best friend. It’s super lightweight and tiny, which is great because they go through books like snacks and always bring at least three everywhere “just in case.” The higher contrast makes the pages look crisp, and the faster page turns mean they can keep speed-reading like they’re training for the Reading Olympics. Battery lasts forever, so I don’t have to hear them panic about charging at 2%. And 16GB… yeah, that’s a whole library, so they won’t run out of space for new worlds to escape to. The media could not be loaded. I have the Paperwhite, but I always end up grabbing this Kindle because it’s so lightweight and easy to hold — I can comfortably read with just one hand. The screen isn’t as crisp as the Paperwhite, but it still looks great and is easy on the eyes. What really impressed me is how fast it responds compared to the older generation. One small thing I noticed: when the Wi-Fi isn’t actively being used, it doesn’t show as connected on the screen, almost like it goes idle. But if you tap “Sync,” the Wi-Fi reconnects instantly and works fine. The only downside is the battery drains faster than I expected. The Matcha color is beautiful, the size is perfect, and the adjustable front light makes reading comfortable anywhere. Overall, it’s a great everyday reader that’s light, fast, and super convenient!

Absolutely LOVE! Beautiful color. Perfect size. It’s fast and easy to use. You won’t regret it. I bought the one with no adds on prime day. If you can wait to get it on Black Friday I think it will be even less expensive. If you’re new to kindle, I think the basic will be great. It has everything you need. Great in direct sunlight and feels very durable. Would be a great gift for new readers! (The bubbles in the screen are from my poorly installed screen protector.)

The two biggest wins here are the screen and the size. The resolution is now 300 PPI, matching the pricier models, making the text incredibly crisp and enjoyable to read. At just 158g, this is the most pocketable and comfortable Kindle for long reading sessions or carrying in a small bag. The battery life is phenomenal (up to 6 weeks), and the 16 GB storage is overkill for standard books, which is great for audiobooks. The honest trade-offs keep the price down: it is not waterproof (so skip the bathtub reads), and it lacks the adjustable warm light of the Paperwhite. The front light works well but has a cooler, bluish tint that some readers find less comfortable at night compared to the amber option on the higher-tier Kindles. If you don't need waterproofing or warm light, this is the superior value buy.
