Description

The MT 48 brings Neumann quality to the digital workflow. It is the first audio interface in its class that is able to capture the full dynamic range of Neumann microphones and is optimally matched to the KH-Line of studio monitors and Neumann headphones. The result is an ideal signal chain without any bottlenecks: uncompromising sound quality from the microphone diaphragm to your ear. The MT 48 is an audio interface and digital mixing desk in one. You can use its DSP processing for monitoring only, or you can print effects while recording. Or both at the same time! Thanks to the unique Dual Output Technology, wet and dry signals can be recorded simultaneously via separate driver channels. So, if necessary, you can fall back on an unprocessed backup. Despite its enormous scope of features, the MT 48 always remains easy to operate. All settings can be made on the device itself via the built-in touchscreen. The perfect monitor mix is just a touch away! Simply use your fingers to adjust pan pots, channel faders and much more, without having to switch to a mixer software on your computer. The MT 48 can even be operated stand-alone as a mixing console. The MT 48 leaves nothing to be desired: audio quality at the highest level, built-in DSP processing, comprehensive expandability, and convenient operation via touchscreen. The MT 48 is the missing link in the Neumann universe, connecting microphones, loudspeakers and headphones to create the perfect studio.

  • The best interface since it came out!
Love this thing! I might even sell my WA-76 compressor and my WA-73 preamp because it’s this good! It’s truly built for Neumann mics but it makes any mic sound phenomenal. I can’t afford the Neumann U-87, so I went with the WA-87 R2. I record into my daw using the internal compression, gate, limiter, and EQ option on my Neumann MT48 interface and my oh my I don’t think I will be needing any other equipment. ... show more

  • Better than the Apollo Twin X
I've had this only for about a week know, and I love everything about it. It's easy to use, sounds amazing, great build quality, and most important for me it works flawlessly on Windows 11 (unlike the Apollo, which has laughably mediocre Windows support). I guess the only downside to coming from an Apollo to this is no longer being able to use UAD plugins right out the box during calls (which you couldn’t even do on Windows in the first place lol) but that was a very simple fix with LightHost and a virtual audio cable. Well worth the upgrade. ... show more

... show more

  • Neumann MT 48 – A Powerful Interface That Shines (Once You Tame It)
I’ve owned and tested a range of high-end DACs and streamers—Topping, RME, and the Eversolo (which has some of the best visuals in the consumer space). The Neumann MT 48 sits in a different league—both in terms of capability and complexity. My use case is somewhat unconventional: I run the MT 48 into a multichannel AVR for playback and calibration. While that’s not its target audience, it offers a unique benefit—native support for high-performance XLR measurement microphones. That allowed me to upgrade my Dirac Live calibration workflow in a way few interfaces could match. Still, its ideal use case probably isn’t system calibration—it just happens to handle that especially well. I picked up the MT 48 based on its reputation for performance, its surprisingly consumer-friendly I/O layout, and its sleek touchscreen interface. And in those areas, it absolutely delivers. The audio quality is transparent and refined, the touchscreen is responsive, and the routing flexibility is powerful. That said, even with deep experience using other interfaces, I ran into configuration issues—especially around monitor bus routing and firmware updates. Things that should be simple, like toggling between output mixes or tracing a silent signal, took longer than they should have. The interface doesn’t always offer feedback when routing isn’t working as expected, and that can throw off even experienced users. Fortunately, Neumann’s customer service was responsive and helpful. I reached out about the firmware issue and routing confusion, and they got back to me quickly with clear guidance. That support made a big difference. If you’re coming from RME or other pro audio ecosystems, this interface is probably right up your alley. But if you’re used to plug-and-play devices, be ready to spend some time learning the MT 48’s architecture. Once configured properly, it integrates beautifully—and can becomes an incredibly capable part of your system. ... show more

  • The box is not sealed
The original box was not sealed. There were fingerprints on the screen of the device. It is possible that the device was returned to me by someone and sold to me as new. This is unacceptable when selling equipment of this class. If the packaging has been opened, this should be indicated at the time of sale. ... show more
