Description

KH 80 Active DSP Powered Studio Monitor. The Neumann KH 80 Active DSP Powered Studio Monitor is a 2-way active bi-amplified studio monitor featuring a DSP engine with network control, a Mathematically Modeled Dispersion Waveguide (MMD), an analog input and an extensive range of mounting hardware. This allows the loudspeaker to be used in diverse acoustical conditions, with any source equipment and in a wide variety of physical locations. The KH 80 Active DSP Powered Studio Monitor is a professional reference monitor representing the latest in acoustic and electronic simulation and measurement technologies to ensure the most accurate sound reproduction possible. The KH 80 Active DSP is designed for use as a near-field monitor, as a front loudspeaker in small multi-channel systems, or as a rear loudspeaker in a compact multi-channel systems. It can be used in project and music studios, broadcast centers, OB vans, and post production studios for tracking, mixing, and mastering. It is also well suited for use in home studio environments. The Perfect Sound of Mathematics at Work The KH 80 DSP’s design is based on computer simulations that calculate with an accuracy that others do not match. Neumann's Mathematical Modeled Dispersion Waveguide (MMD) provides their studio series with a solid base for precise sound direction that stays absolutely unique. Doing your sums properly has never sounded so good. The Biggest Variable is Your Room. Neumann Has the Solution. It might be a project studio, an outside broadcast van, or just a corner of a building: The room defines the sound. Surfaces and corners in the room cause interference, diffraction, reflection, and refraction: all are forms of distortion. For a really true sound, you normally need expensive equipment plus plenty of time and expertise to align it correctly – or smart algorithms. Neumann's DSP engine optimizes the sound output, delivering quality way above price-tag. And you do not need to be an expert use...

  • Amazing speakers, no android app only Ipad!!!!
Color: MultiColored
The speakers sound amazing, they where measured in Audio Science Review to have ruler flat freq response and very very low distortion. I use these not as near field but for normal home audio and they kick my more expensive speakers and amps to the curb. The real issue and i really hate this, they have amazing settings from the app for room correction and EQ but it is only available on ipad and not on android!!! Really???? ... show more

  • Impeccable accuracy, surprising depth
Color: MultiColored
These are currently the smallest active monitors in Neumann's range, but they benefit from a finely tuned DSP system on board, resulting in an extraordinarily flat frequency response. As a mastering engineer, these near-field monitors (mine are about three feet from my ears), deliver such an accurate 'picture' of what I am working on that I am constantly surprised by their physical size on my desk! These are not for everyone, as you'll need to add tone controls and/or EQ is you want a certain sound (and a subwoofer, if a lot of low bass is your thing), but for achieving accurate sonic balance when creating music or otherwise working on sound, it's hard to imagine anything better for the job. ... show more

  • A very accurate speaker. Highly recommended.
Color: MultiColored
From source material to speakers - each component should reproduce the sound spectrum accurately. These speakers have a frequency response that is flat from 50-20Khz. Which is amazing. Use this for listening to music on your desk without headphones. I can't tell you how great they sound.

  • They’re great monitors. Very specific coloring
Color: MultiColored
They’re great monitors. Very specific coloring, would recommend doing a listening test to make sure this is your thing. Took me a while to go from my very mid range heavy speakers to these. I’ve had no problem with the smaller speakers but I could understand a complaint about lack of power for someone who might need that. Everything else I’ve really loved about these. ... show more

Happy with the sound and good bass for a 4inch speaker,

  • Great sound but additional features are poorly implemented
Color: MultiColored
Great speakers but the standby circuit is poorly designed. Many owners out there have issues with standby, have swapped out the speaker, only to have the same problem. For me it works on one speaker but not the other. If you don't care about standby these are great. Otherwise I would go for the Genelec equivalent. I also could never get the iPad app (no Android support) to discover the speakers. I did some deep debugging and found that the mDNS query that the app makes is just flat out wrong. I'm guessing most consumer routers are extremely permissive with mDNS results so that's probably why it works for some. Not on prosumer gear though. I mainly wanted connectivity to check for a firmware update but I was able to validate that my speakers already had the latest firmware and so it would not resolve the standby issue. With the exception of those two minor issues the speakers are excellent. I am very picky about sound and really like them, especially after trying some entry level JBLs that hissed like crazy and we're pretty fatiguing. I expected perfection for the price and the brand though. ... show more

  • Love mine

  • Unreal Sound
Color: MultiColored
I absolutely love these. The sounds they can produce for their size is incredible to say the least. The clarity is phenomenal. They also produce incredible lows for their size though I will still be adding a sub in the future because every so often I like to rattle my brain around a little bit.
