Hello! I purchased my HP laptop 6 months ago. I noticed that I had slow wifi on my personal laptop vs. my work laptop. They had me do a Wifi Speed Test on speedtest.net and fast.com. My speed was only 30 mbps. The internet card associated with my computer is bgn 1x1. I have a mesh internet system and have been told that my Wifi can be really fast, but that the internet card associated with my computer's hardware is very limited which is why it only goes to up to 30 mbps. I purchased this Netgear USB wifi adapter and another one from TP so that I could compare the two products. This one works way better. To set up this device on Windows 10, I downloaded the driver from Netgear. The Netgear Genie exe setup didn't load, so after googling, I learned that I just had to click on my Wifi icon from the task bar, then click on "wifi 2" and connect the "wifi 2" to my preferred wifi. Now I have "2" internets, instead of just 1 - hence dual internet. This product alone brought my mbps from 30 to 197. I watched a youtube video that taught me how to change my internet IP address to Google for faster internet. After I changed my internet IP address to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 my mbps went from 30 390! This is a 1200% increase (if I'm doing the math right). Great job, Netgear! ... show more

Thus works great to enable 5G on an older computer. Setup took several hours as instructions and even AI did not say to disable the computer's WiFi and then enable this one. Doing so makes this the primary adapter. Ater that, it works like a charm.

Works great. Downloaded driver via link provided in documentation, plugged the device into a USB port, selected Wi-Fi (5g) network, it worked. The built in Wi-Fi device on my computer failed. Purchased this product to be able to connect to multiple wifi connections simultaneously from my work laptop. From the start the connection was erratic and slow. During a video call, my connection would periodically drop off at regular intervals. I did some internet research to diagnose and fix the issue, and from what I can tell, it's likely a USB switching issue. So far, I've been unable to find a way to fix it on my laptop (a new HP zBook) though. The device is currently not able to provide any of the features I purchased it for. So then I made the mistake of calling Netgear support. Even going through their website to start a case (which supposedly expedites things), I still sat on hold for almost half an hour before actually being connected to a service rep. We talked through some basic troubleshooting. The issue happened on both my old router and the new Netgear Orbi system I just purchased. Because the issues didn't seem to happen on my other laptop, the rep claimed that the problem was 100% my work laptop, and that I needed to contact HP to troubleshoot my Netgear device. I tried to explain that we had only determined that the hardware was working and that I needed help troubleshooting the configuration of their adapter, but the rep stonewalled and said that it wasn't their problem. I've never run into a company that sells a technical product and outright refuses to help configure it in any way. I will likely be returning the adapter, and I'm considering returning the Orbi system I just purchased as well since Netgear refuses to support their products. ... show more
