Grabbed 2 4-packs of these to play a fun tournament with beginners. Full disclosure, I play competitively, so I do have a sense of the expected weight and feel of a paddle. I was able to hit this well with everybody else. The solid wood honestly hits better and more consistently than some of the lower-grade honeycomb graphite paddles you see for $30-$50. The darn thing weighs a ton as compared to standard pickleball paddles, though. I'm used to holding a paddle for hours, and this made me tired pretty quick. I'd probably still rather have this than those beginner graphite paddles with bad edges, and it beats the storebought wood paddles I've tried. Everybody had fun with them, and the folks with tennis backgrounds were able to bring their skills to bear with it, so I recommend it for somebody who's learning with friends or family. You will want to transition to something else pretty quickly, though, so I view these now as my "newbie practice paddle set". Quick note on the balls - they're the softer, bouncier, non-tournament style balls, but that also means they're much more durable, so you could use them for low level rec play in most places, and they're great for playing on non-court surfaces like concrete (we played in the street during the height of COVID, and that style ball was nice for that). Overall, they're a great value to just get a quick set of paddles to try it out. Just don't expect to go much further than trying it out without starting to want something a bit lighter. ... show more

Played over 10 games with the same ball within the pickleball set and everything still looks great. The wrist strap is comfy, grip tape doesn't come off, balls are nice and durable. Very happy I purchased this set for me and my family to play with!
