Unlike probably most people who are thinking about this product, I actually own a real espresso machine. The real espresso machine is a piece of industrial art. It's big, it's heavy, it was made in Italy and it cost about 10x what this thing costs. Once you get it dialed in, and pair it with a high-quality grinder, a real espresso machine like that will make you an absolutely sublime espresso. Can this little gadget recreate the same thing? No. Of course not. If it could nobody would still be going through all the cost and effort to still make it the more traditional way using all of that very expensive equipment. What this can do is make something completely unobjectionable and pleasant with absolutely no skill/effort at a fraction of the price. It takes up almost no counter space and is easy to keep clean. And there is a place for that. If I am only making a single drink, and I am in a hurry, this is fine. Not great. Fine. Yes, I can run circles around this thing if I want to bother firing up the big machine, grind my beans, weigh the ground coffee to the gram, etc. and then clean everything up. But sometimes I don't want to do all of that, I just want a quick espresso to help me get through a dull meeting. About the only downside is that the pods are expensive. You are paying for that convenience. And if you have a lot of people using it and it is their only way to make coffee, it is not cheap to run. So it is probably best for someone who is like me, and only expects to use it occasionally, rather than making multiple cups every day. ... show more

I’m a as my boyfriend calls me a bougie coffee drinker. I am specific about where I buy coffee (local place that roasts in house), and particular about flavors/smells etc. I can tell when something is off, etc. I tolerate Starbucks, only when I’m away from my coffee shop of choice. I found it really annoying at first, because there was air in the tube and I had to you tube a bunch of how to, just so I could use it. I also was irritated at how short it took to pull a shot, and was very skeptical. However after using this for a few months, I can say I’ve chosen a latte from this over going out and getting one. Is it the best, no but it’s pretty good. Experiment with different pods, nespresso is good but over priced, imo. ... show more

    • leaked - returning for a replacement

hmm. I loved the Nespresso machines available during a recent trip so purchased this. problems from the start: packaging was unusual as if this was already "tested" by another purchaser - the styrofoam was broken in many sections and almost shreaded with little flaking bits like pellets. the wrapping barely on. nevertheless, trusting that this was a *brand new* product I eagerly set it up and wiped it down and followed the directions and saw some youTube info and the Nespresso Co data - even bought the original cups from Nespresso - and did not realize this particular "original" Innissia is discontinued. I tried repeatedly to love this: what I loved - eventually it did make espresso, and the samples mostly did as advertised, so experimented with espresso and Lungo. simple. mostly faithful once you follow directions more or less exactly. BUT:: it always leaked. initially moderate. I cleaned as instructed. I did not disassemble - LEAKAGE:: first from the rear at the reservoir. then underneath noted. after several cups I contacted through Amazon, which was to get a call from company or contact which never occurred. I descaled machine as per instructions. it still leaked more from the front. A little from rear reservoir. then I thought wow a couple times it didn't leak (by then it made counter wet enough it attacked the two booklets sent with the machine and flooded them). but, but the time I finishd most of the sample pack of coffees, it was not improving. so:: am now awaiting its replacement as I packed it up and took it to Whole Foods hoping the replacement is actually new and functioning like the ones I used on our recent vacations. ] ... show more
