I got the Nektar back in 2021. If I do say so my self, the product didn't disappoint. I originally got this midi to just substitute for a real piano, so that I could play around and practice. A long with it I ended up getting a bitwig studio licence which was (temporary) nice. I love how the keys aren't heavy or to soft. They are well pressure sensitive, so there's no need to attack the keys too hard or worry about needing to be extra delicate with your strokes. The Octave and transpose buttons are a nice touch to get different sounds as well as the pitch dial. If your actively deciding to compose/record music which I don't necessarily do so much, as I mostly like to just play around. The eight buttons near the top right of the keyboard makes it easy for, a quick access recorder, track player, undo button pause play and rewind key. I assume the shift button is for selecting tracks. The volume knob makes for a nice touch so you don't need to go into your software to manually change how loud your midi volume is. With bitwig I find that this is very compatible and has lots of cool options for how you can make your midi experience great and fun The biggest pro for this keyboard I'd say is, there's no latency issues so far. And it doesn't collect dust. The keys when pressed don't have a delay which is nice it's something I've often found as an issue when using other keyboards. It's nice and sturdy as well. No loose keys and I've been using it for more then two years, maybe not as consistent as every day par say, but definitely a lot, yet I haven't seen any waring down on the keys, still has that nice color that it first came with. They keyboard itself has ports for foot sustaining. So I assume if you where to buy or had an attachment/ foot pedal for sustaining, then you can draw out the keys by using that instead of relying on holding keys and or editing your track in software. Which is very nifty. Lastly there is indeed an on and off switch, which I assume it's probably to use that as to not wear the hardware built on the inside of this lovely device. I give this a nice 5 star review as it hasn't let me down and I haven't personally found myself complaining about a single thing when using this keyboard.

I have to admit that I did a lot of research before I finally chose the Nektar impact GX61 as a midi controller because I have a dual purpose for it--to use it to play some sound modules on gigs and to use it in the studio. Well, I've tried it on a performance, and it works great! Very easy to operate and program and the size and weight are perfect! The build and keyboard action quality are very good, especially for a keyboard that isn't weighted. The cost is great as well. So, far so good! In the studio will be the next test but based on what I've experienced so far, I expect a great experience! I will note that I did have to replace the first one I got because apparently, I was sent one that had been opened prior. But once I got the replacement which was in a couple days I was completely satisfied!

This is my first Nektar product, and I'm totally pleased with it. I watched a lot of Youtube videos and read a lot of reviews before buying, and it lived up to most of the reviews. It's very light in weight, but the build quality feels really nice. It's not heavy-duty pro-quality housing, but it's a very attractive body and does not feel cheap. The keys are not super-loose like most boards that are described as "synth action", but not as heavy as a weighted or semi-weighted board. I like both synth action keys for EDM and weight-y keys for playing piano parts, so I don't have an absolute preference for one or the other - and this is right in the middle. For the particular use of this board I would have liked something heavier, but if you want something that you can do both electronic music and classical piano, this is a good hybrid for doing both. Professional players would probably not like the feel of the keys. I'm just a hobbyist and a nub keyboard player, but I can tell there's an inconsistency in the key stiffness. Some keys have more "give" than others. Under the fingers of a pro player it's probably awful. For me it's noticeable if I'm running up and down the keyboard to test the keys, but it's a zero-issue when I'm just playing. The velocity sensitivity is pretty good and seems to be consistent. The volume, modwheel and pitchwheel feel really high quality with the mechanics. They are even a little stiff for my taste, but very smooth. The mod and pitch wheels have open faces on the left sides for some reason, and it concerns me that dust could get into the bearings and become a problem over time - not sure why they wouldn't enclose that face. I use Reaper as my DAW, and a host of synths and samplers including Kontakt, Spitfire instrument, sForzando, Serum, Vital and more - and it works fine with all of them. I have not installed the software for this, it has worked as a straight plug-n-play device in Reaper without the need for any custom configuration. I have not tested the built-in midi programming or transport controls at the time I wrote this.

Out of the box this keyboard feels solid and well made. Very simple to setup, my Mac automatically recognized it which allows you to get up and running in no time. User manual is straight to the point and goes through the midi setup using the keys. Then comes time to play. The keys offer some resistance but nothing like the feeling of a real weighted piano so it takes time to get used to it as the keys are pretty stringy which makes some of the keys difficult to play. The transpose function works fine but here again it takes a bit of time to get use to 62 keys rather than the full size but that was expected and given the space it saves this is something I am ok to leave with. Overall, I think this keyboard is a great tool for anyone who wants to learn piano or who is an experienced player who needs a device connected to a computer. Nektar did a pretty good job in designing this keyboard even though there are a few compromises but at this price point it’s ok.

This is a product you won't regret buying- The quality level was above my expectations. It feels professional and meticulously made. It's easy to feel comfortable with it. I'd recommend buying some sort of case so it gets some extra protection, even though it's been made with durable materials. I use it almost on a daily basis and I couldn't ask for more. It gets the job done and never disappoints . It's easy to program. Any DAW will detect it with ease. It also comes in a perfect size for my desk- 61 keys is all you need. The light buttons are of great help and the keys seem very stable and resistant. I couldn't love it more. If you're thinking about buying a MIDI Keyboard you would fall in love with, this is the one.

I was looking for a lightweight stand-in for a very heavy (50lb!) 76-key weighted-key Ensoniq synth that I've been using as a MIDI keyboard and this was just the ticket. It arrived this morning, I unboxed it, plugged it into the USB port of my old Macbook Pro, set the MIDI input of the software synth that was already running on the Mac to the Nektar, and presto! it worked right away. It has a very reasonable unweighted-keyboard feel and is generally pleasant to play. I tried a voice in the software synth that uses velocity input and it worked fine -- very responsive and easy to control over a wide dynamic range. It's very compact -- barely larger than the keys themselves, and seems quite sturdy. Also nice is the fact that it uses no batteries or AC adapter, just USB power, so setup is really simple. I'm looking forward to being able to go to rehearsals without needing a wheeled dolly to get a keyboard there.

I needed a 61 key keyboard with full size keys and relatively narrow depth to keep on my desk. This one has a nice combination of size, assignable midi controls and efficient use of space. The keys are not weighted, but have a nice crisp feel when playing. It's powered by USB so it needs only one cable. The build quality is excellent. The transport controls integrate seamlessly with the Logic Pro DAW. It's a bargain comparable to keyboard/controllers costing twice as much.

I am a game dev operating on a small team who wears a lot of hats. I was looking to purchase a small MIDI keyboard for music composition to complement my full size digital keyboard. My main requirements was something compact that fits nicely on my work desk and that will allow my keyboard and mouse to be used comfortably alongside it. I tested out three keyboards based mostly on reviews and price point: M-Audio Keystation MK3 (48 keys), Nektar Impact GX48 and the Impact GX61. The M-Audio Keystation MK3 was my least favorite of the bunch and my strong dislike for the way the keys felt resulted in me trying out the Nektar 48 key and then the 61 key model. M-Audio Keystation MK3's keys are fairly well documented in the reviews, however the overall reviews (4.5 stars last I checked in June 2021) does not seem to reflect this. The velocity in the keys seems all over the place, and the response of the keys when hit, especially the black keys is quite stiff and unnatural, especially for someone used to a full size digital piano (most of my experience is with Yamahas and Casios). For this alone, I cannot recommend the MK3. Enter Nektar Impact Series! The feel of these keys are leaps and bounds better than the M-Audio's. I tried out the 48 key version first and once I tried it out, I knew immediately that I would be returning the M-Audio's. Then after a day or two, I decided the form factor was such that the 61 key version would fit nicely on my work desk without crimping my ability to use my mouse and keyboard for entry while using a DAW (FL Studio and Reason). I have not tested the other functionality, but to be honest there isn't many bells and whistles on this model. However, if you're looking for a lightweight and functional MIDI keyboard with a great feel to the keys, I can't recommend the Nektar Impact G series enough. Both the 48 and 61 key versions are solid. No complaints thus far.
