This was way better made than I had anticipated. I used with a Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra 4K webcam, (not a DSLR) and works great! Just incase anyone is wondering if will work with a non-traditional camera set up, it does. Now I had gotten the Neewer overhead desk live broadcast rig pole, it did not work with it. The parts were compatible, however the arm could NOT support the weight. No biggie, I had tripod and set it up on it. Like I said, it’s pretty heavy duty, just have something ready to support the weight. Worked out anyway, I used the arm for a fill light. I saw a lot of complaints about the app that comes with it, but I really liked it. I haven’t put my own scripts on it yet, but the remote pared easy and quick, and worked perfect to adjust the speed, and size of the text, as well as being about to pause and hop to sections forward and backwards manually with it. What more could I want with a teleprompter? I very much recommend!!

I needed a budget teleprompter with an open back to accommodate different cameras. This teleprompter fits the criteria perfectly. Great quality, not too heavy and has a removable pouch opening, meaning you can use many cameras including external webcams like the Logitech BRIO. The NEEWER teleprompter app + remote control is also great! Good value!

FIVE STARS -- minus one, because there is not an app for my Amazon Fire Tablet. Still, using my Android, this was so simple to set up. If effortlessly paired the remote with my phone. Using Wifi, I was easily able to upload a word doc from my PC directly to the teleprompter add on my phone and in GUEST mode, no account created. The base is solid and holds my canon DSLR firmly. I spent an hour scrolling through all the different teleprompter solutions available. I was expecting to probably have to return a couple before getting a good one at a reasonable price. I must say, I think I hit the jackpot the first time with this one. This is the perfect choice for my situation and YouTube channel.

The NEEWER Basics X12B teleprompter is the first item I have had from the NEEWER Basics line. I have been very impressed with every piece of NEEWER gear I have had, and usually find them made of lots of machined aluminum and impressively engineered. This is where the Basics part must come in - while this teleprompter is still well engineered, it is clearly made to hit a lower price point and keep the bill of materials simple. Almost all the parts are stamped steel with knobs to lock adjustments. There is nothing at all wrong with this - and from photos it looks like it compares very favorably with the Glide unit costing twice as much. What I do like is that it's simple and everything can stay attached so setup is quick and easy. The unit can fold flat and go into its carrying case (which is, again, basic but suitable for purpose). There is a limited amount of adjustability - like maybe a little over an inch of camera height, several inches forward and back, and just a selection of two holes per thread size to attach the unit to a tripod. This is perfectly suitable for the home or occasional user. People who use teleprompters daily or with different equipment (both larger cameras or cell phones) would do best to look for a unit suited to their needs. But for someone using a mirrorless, SLR, or small video camera (or a high end webcam with 1/4-20 mount), this is effective. It is really impressive to come in under $100 for this quality of a teleprompter. I had always considered teleprompters too expensive to jump into but at this price point it's questionable to take the DIY approach - you could probably build something cheaper but it wouldn't be as convenient for long term use as the easy setup and breakdown of this NEEWER Basics teleprompter will be worth it in the long run.

There is no warning that this teleprompter is not compatible with phones for shooting. The hood will not fit over a phone and if placed in portrait (vertical) mode the phone camera is above the top of the teleprompter making it impossible to use.

The first teleprompter I've owned that I like! It packs small, is well engineered, and a general joy to use. Previous prompters used to break down for storage, but took a while to setup/break down. This one is pretty much ready to go right out of the case. It comes with a little iPad remote so you can stop/start the text and gain a bit more control over your flow speed. I really do like how quickly it sets up and packs down. Nice little find!

The NEEWER Basics X12B is positioned in a mid-level and budget-friendly segment of teleprompters. It is easy to setup. It comes in a carrying case that works well for storing the X12B because the X12B fits in easily after using it. It is a metal construction and that makes it sturdy; it has adjustments for the tablet / phone size, and the camera position (horizontal and vertical). It is designed for full size cameras; however, I was also able to mount a smartphone via a basic smartphone holder and the camera got a clear view of the scene -- it will depend on the camera's lens and angle, but it can work. This teleprompter is an excellent tool to either start with teleprompting or for smaller productions. I am in need for a teleprompter only from time to time, I am not using it on a daily basis -- for my current use scenarios the X12B is a good tool; I cannot speak for people who use it heavily on a daily basis or have certain setup requirements. The app is simple and does its job -- I am using the app on an iPhone, and it works for me. The included remote control paired without problems with my phone and controlling the speed and text size works as expected. The marketing description shows which tablet sizes and models are compatible for this teleprompter. It is a good teleprompter in that price segment, and it gets the job done.
