Nice it doesn't require keys (which I'm not sure about some of these reviews that mention keys). Quick to set the combo, and this lock is solid. I do wonder why they do not include a bike mount for it though. It has a plastic coating so it won't scratch your bike, but you need a place to attach it so it's out of the way. You'll need to buy a separate mount, so consider that when pricing locks. ... show more

Carry a bike lock key isn’t the most convenient, so wanted a combination lock for my kid. This fit the bill. Operating the lock is straightforward. We were able to easily set the combination to our own code. The added cable is a nice touch, though we will primarily use it as a U lock. We bought it for a relatively inexpensive kids bike that will mainly be parked at school or the park. I don’t have the ability to test the security of a bike lock, so I can’t vouch how well this will protect your bike. I’d have done a lot more research if I were leaving it overnight, in high-risk areas, or on a very expensive bike. I’m not worried about someone cutting through the U - which appears quite strong - but hard to tell how resilient the lock itself is. For our uses, this seems more than adequate. Cons: The big one is that it doesn’t come with a mounting bracket, and one doesn’t seem to be available. It’s also a bit on the heavy side. The lock and cable are well made and adequate enough to lock a couple of bikes together. Resetting the combination is easy with the instructions provided. The cable is long enough for 2-3 bikes. The lock takes some use to get comfortable with. The combination numbers are recessed in the lock just enough to where you need to get your fingers inside the recessed part. Doing this with cold hands could be an issue. To undo the shackle, you need to push a tab and pull on the shackle. Using both hands is required. Other than that it is a nice set. ... show more

    • Seems like a good lock-no mounting bracket
This is a heavy duty bike lock and cable. It's easy to set and reset your code. To reset the code, the lock must be open (i.e. the shackle removed), then, turn the reset "wheel" clockwise (which is actually just the right end of the lock bar-the whole thing twists) and while in that position, reset your code, turn the reset wheel back to it's original position and reinsert the shackle. You have now changed your code. I like this lock but I found it difficult to rotate the numbers in the 1 and 4 positions (closest to the guide points) particularly the left side-the 1 position. The edges of the window get in the way and make it hard for me to grasp the wheel enough to turn it easily. Maybe it's because I'm beginning to have arthritic fingers, I don't know, but it was difficult. The shackle is coated to prevent scratches to your bike. The lock doesn't come with a bike mount so you'll have to purchase that separately. ... show more

    • Sturdy And Easy To Set
This U-lock and cable combo works well and is beefy enough to stop casual thieves, though a determined pro with the right tools wouldn't be deterred. So if you have an expensive bike and plan to park all day in the city, you might want something more bulletproof. But for the rest of us, this set provides enough protection while shopping in a store, hanging at the beach, etc. The combination is simple to set, while the big tumblers are easy to read and maneuver. The large U shape and longish cable provide ample room to lock the frame and wheels against racks, poles, etc. I plan to use this for securing bikes on a trailer hitch rack when I'm parked somewhere fairly safe. While riding I likely will carry it in a backpack since no mounting bracket was included and it's a bit heavy and bulky to dangle off the bike. ... show more
