  • I didn't expect to be this impressed.
As a sound engineer, I deal with a LOT of sound equipment and I can be pretty picky about it. The vast majority of the work I do involves fairly large systems for outdoor venues, focusing primarily on village and regional festivals. My system are large and loud. But I have had a lot of requests to fill in my schedule by doing sound and lights for smaller indoor venues, and this could really help to keep me busy through the winter season in western New York. I can scale my system down quite a bit, but for small acoustic venues, as well as smaller rock venues, my dual 18" subs and associated top boxes are still a bit big. I also need something that has more practicality than your typical Bose L1 system for bands that require a bit higher energy than those skinny column arrays. In my search for a system that bridges the gap between the small acoustic shows, and the large festival setups, I went in search of a front of house system that fits the following criteria: 1: The system has to be capable of being more than a simple vocal only system. It needs to be able to handle Vocals at a sufficient level to sit in the mix with kick drums, keyboards, bass guitars and electric guitars. 2: It has to be easy to transport and deploy with minimal effort. I have a box truck with a lift gate, so weight isn't a huge issue. 3: The system has to be rugged enough to withstand all the transport as well as setups and tear-downs. 4: The system has to have active amplification buit-in and all cables need to be standard, and serviceable. 5: It has to be sufficient to provide sufficient sound pressure levels for a few hundred people in a room that barely fits that many people. 6: It has to be low distortion, but with solid bass impact. So lets take a look at this Speaker setup. The NBVOICE PRX ONE comes with ONE 15" BANDPASS style subwoofer and THREE top boxes that are deployed in a curvilinear array, which is perched on a post that is threaded into the subwoofer. The amplifier is located in the subwoofer, which also provides power to the top speakers which are comprised of 3 boxes, each of which contains two 4" midrange drivers plus one 1" tweeter. So the full compliment of drivers is One 15", Six 4" midrange, and three 1" horns. This lineup is useful to be ONE SIDE of a full range PA system. For a complete system for my purposes (and probably yours) you will need to purchase TWO of these complete systems. I set my pair of these speakers up at a local venue this evening. The band playing there was made up of FIVE musicians, featuring Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, Keyboards and an Electronic drum kit. All five musicians sang, and they frequently performed 4-5 part harmony. ALL instruments were in the PA, and were routed to the PA via a Midas MR18 digital mixer. Let's talk about these speakers a bit and discuss how they fit my criteria. 1: The system has to be capable of being more than a simple vocal only system. So how did they do? With five vocalists as well as a full compliment of musical instruments all working through the pair of arrays, They did really well. I have to admit it took me a couple of songs to get the vocals to sit well in the mix, but once I had the electronic drums dialed in it was relatively easy to carve out some space in the vocal range for the voices. The speakers had no problem handling the diverse details of the band, and each instrument, with a little effort, could be clearly heard in the mix, with the vocals riding on top. 2: The system has more than enough power for this application. With the mixer at 10dB below UNITY, I was able to have MORE than enough volume with the PRX ONES at 50% volume. There was TONS of headroom available. 2: From my truck to the stage, I had the front of house up and running in 15 minutes. 3: The speakers, without covers made the 45 minute trip to the venue, without cases or moving blankets without any damage, though the coating on the painted surfaces seems to be a little fragile. They are rugged enough for a trip or two, but I will invest in some padded covers soon, before they take on any damage. 4: The system performed with good clarity and no discernible distortion at these levels. Concerns, Gripes, Etcetera. The fit and finish of the subwoofers is a little sloppy. One of my speakers arrived with a hand print in the finish in two areas, and the paint feels less rugged than other texture painted boxes I own. The other subwoofer has some paint build-up that looks a bit messy. I feel that unless I am very careful, this cabinet will start to look pretty bad with regular use. I will be ordering some covers for these so they don't get damaged in the truck, and during load-in, load-out. One of the subwoofer poles has a loose threaded coupling at the bottom, and when I took the speakers down at the end of the night, the pole spun, but the threaded section remained in place. I was able to finally get it untreaded, but it was touch-and go for a minute or two. I will need to figure out how to make that swedged fitting at the base of the pole tighter to prevent this in the future. Not quite sure how, but I'll come up with something. The TOP boxes are solidly built out of TOUGH high grade plastic, but I can see no way to get into them to be able to replace drivers if needed. The product has a seven year warranty, however, the speaker drivers are not covered. Besides being a bit annoying that a seven year speaker warranty doesn't cover speakers, If I ever have to repair the tops, I'm not sure how to make that happen. Functional gripe: Following the instruction for pairing two of these speakers together using the TWS feature, I was unable to get the two to pair together. I don't actually NEED to be able to do that because I can run cables to both speakers, but seeing as I was unable make it work I am concerned there may be a deeper issue with the product. Compliments: At this price, I'm surprised at how good they sound. I have not run a REALLY loud band through them, but in the my tests this evening I'm more than impressed with the performance. CONCLUSION: This is an affordable system that prices out well-below a lot of the name brand systems. In spite of it's low price, it performs as well and in some cases better than other FOH systems I have tried out in this price range. I know nothing about the brand NBVOICE and their warranty seems to be less than useful in any case beyond dead on arrival, but if they can be repaired, I'm not sure I care. I'm not sure how long they will last, They have no track record and this is a straight up gamble, but the proof is in the performance, and they certainly did perform this evening REALLY well! I didn't expect to be this impressed. ... show more

  • NBVOICE Speaker System with Sub
I’ve had the opportunity to use this NBVOICE PA system a few times now, and feel it's now appropriate to write a review. Overall, it’s a powerful, well-built unit that delivers impressive sound, but it’s not without quirks. I’d give it a solid 4 stars. Let’s start with the build: the base subwoofer box is a beast. It’s made from 18mm birch plywood and weighs in at around 120 pounds. I was shocked that I could not move it myself off my front porch and needed a dolly to get it into my garage. You’ll feel every pound of it when moving it, even with the included casters. But that heft translates to durability, it feels like it could survive a fall off a truck and still perform. The base dimensions are 23.5" deep x 18" wide x 27.5" tall, and once the tower speakers are installed, the full height reaches just under 84 inches. It’s tall, stable, and commands presence. Sound-wise, the system delivers clear highs and punchy mids. The 15" subwoofer brings decent low-end, though I wouldn’t call it earth-shaking. It’s clean and tight, but if you’re a bass junkie or playing EDM outdoors, you might want to supplement with an additional sub. For most gigs, weddings, corporate events, small festivals, it’s more than enough. Setup is fairly straightforward, but not quite “plug-and-play” for non-tech users. It does take some time to get it all assembled and wired up. The DSP controls are intuitive once you get the hang of them, and the presets (like “club EDM” or “church sermon”) are helpful starting points. Bluetooth connectivity is solid, and I had no trouble pairing with my phone or mixer. One thing to note: this system is tall and heavy, so if you’re a solo performer or mobile DJ without help, transport and setup can be a challenge. I’d recommend investing in a proper dolly if you’re gigging regularly. This setup will take up a majority of your trunk space. In short, this is a professional-grade system with serious power and clarity. It’s built like a tank, sounds great, and offers flexibility, but it’s not the most beginner-friendly or lightweight option. If you know what you’re doing and want something that’ll last, this is a strong contender. It's probably better for a stationary event location, and not the best for a mobile DJ like myself. I like the look of it and it works great overall. ... show more

  • This is awesome
The way you pack this is amazing, the tops go inside the sub and than you flip it ln its wheels and you are on your way, the mids and highs are great quality and the the lows could have a better woofer to be more precise with the frequency of the rumble it produces but honestly, for this price it’s great, way better than the rockville 8000s that are the current amazon choice I have the rockville and the mid high end sucks, this is good quality and powerful, the back looks like an actual professional speaker ... show more
