An outdoorsy acquaintance I respect owned a Napier tent and totally sold me on getting one. Once I'd decided to take the plunge into camping, I didn't even shop any further because this is what I wanted. It has turned out to be a very good decision. Being a non-camper, I was anxious about putting it up, so I went to a local park and did a trial set-up ... reading the directions, line-by-line, step-by-step. The color coding made the instructions easy to follow, the only confusing part was dark blue and violet look a great deal alike. It's pretty easy to figure out your mistake though because they are sized quite differently. Oh, also confusing was a note at the top of the directions suggesting you do steps 1-3 last for ease??? My thought was if they should be done last, why did you make them steps 1-3? Being kind of a stickler for things, since they listed them first, I did them first. NOTE TO NAPIER: If you want me to do these steps last, change the numbering of your instructions. Having satisfied myself that I could put the tent up, I took it back down until the real test ... my first three-day camping trip! The big weekend arrived, packing up the truck I was off for the adventure of my first camping trip. Putting the tent up went even smoother than it did the first time. I was thrilled! The first day ended with torrential rains and strong winds, but the tent stayed in place and the inside was nice and dry. I was half expecting at least the awning to blow loose in the storm, but it sat firm. The rest of the weekend had better weather. Having passed my first test, this non-camper has now become a camper! I'm already planning my next trip! I like having the assembly directions sewn into the cover so I can't lose them. I like the color-coded supports. I like that the tent is lightweight enough that I can put it up by myself, yet heavy enough to protect against substantial wind and rain. I love the idea of sleeping outdoors in nature and staying off the ground in the process. I am 65 years old and I just discovered I love camping! Thank you Napier! ... show more

Set it up the first time a month ago with one other person. Today 8/25/24 set it up by myself, one person can do this alone. I have a retractable bed cover that rolls up into itself so the first foot of my truck bed is taken up by that, but the tent still works great. The retractable bed cover actually makes a nice head stand for the air mattress bed! Ford Ranger 2023. Seems to fit well. 1st set up was a bit of a struggle, but with 2 people we were able to get everything set up in about 30 minutes and of course my wife following the directions. It rained the first night we used the tent and the inside of the tent stayed dry. Next day we let the tent dry in the sun and it dried very quickly. UPADTE after two uses: I was at the start of a week-long trip. First night, my duct tape ”repairs” on one split pole held up. Another pole split, so I had to do a similar “repair” to that. Second night, both poles snapped and the tent hung loosely. As I was headed into remote areas, I had to make the decision to cut the trip short. I just could not count on this tent to hold up, and I am in black bear country (they came for visits each night). I would love to love this tent. When it worked, it was functional, comfortable. But, that was short lived. I’d give it four or maybe even five stars IF the poles would hold up. So many people apparently have had similar issues with these poles. But, if I can’t even rely on the backbones of this tent to work and they fail with first uses, this turned out to be a bad purchase. I’m quite disappointed. If you do take a chance with this tent, make sure to bring along strong duct tape. Hopefully your trip won’t be ruined. This looks like it will be perfect for my needs. Not a heavy truck camper and I usually go on trips from one to a few days. Lots of room for a tent in a mid-sized truck. Wasn’t too difficult to setup the first time, following the instructions. I set it up on the ground first, then lifted it to the bed for final attachments. When disassembling the tent, however, I saw that one section of the long gray pole had split. I’d seen this issue on other reviews, but couldn’t believe happened to me the first time. I’ve used sections of strong duct tape to repair it. I’d love to give another star, but things shouldn’t be breaking on the very first setup. ... show more

Like that we are not on the ground, first camping trip went thru 2 heavy rain thunderstorms and about 1-1/2 hrs of steady moderate rain. With the rain fly installed and the front flap up but lowered somewhat on poles only got about 1/3 cup of water in tent by the door. Took a bit over 20 min for this senior citizen to set up solo. Has plenty of screened windows for ventilation. Great quality, great customer service, had an issue with a snapped fiberglass rod and they sent a replacement ASAP.
