  • Nice set of games, joystick is not super responsive, espeicially in Pac man
Style: Data East Hits
I give this a B+ overall. These types of games are reliant on stick response. IF it is 1/4 second slow, the game could be ruined. I still like the nostalgic games I played as kid. Some games I never heard of. Graphics are as they were in the full size video game parlors of yesteryear.

  • Grandson Approved
Style: Data East Hits
Bought this mini arcade for my 12-year old grandson, who loves this and all of the included 35 video games. It's also great that it doesn't need batteries like most video games (it uses micro USB power adapter), and I was impressed that the sound was really good considering the size of the arcade.

  • A good retro gaming experience...with a few minor complaints
Style: Data East Hits
If you love Burger Time, Shoot Out, Heavy Barrel, Karate Champ (or any of the 30 other retro titles) this tiny arcade game is highly recommended. The emulation is 100% faithful, and for 80s arcade enthusiasts like myself, that is very important. So many of these retro games are emulated with NES or Atari ROM sets. That doesn't provide a very good replication of most coin-op titles from my experience. Luckily, the Data East Classics mini player satisfies even the toughest critic when it comes to authenticity of emulation. The screen is decent, though the contrast with deep black leaves a little to be desired. Still, these 80s arcade games look very vivid and lifelike on the screen. The controls are remarkably responsive for being so tiny. Sound quality is excellent, plus you can adjust the volume or even listen through headphones if you prefer. One minor complaint is the display ratio adjustment. You can adjust the settings (Full Screen, 4:3, or Original) by holding COIN + BACK buttons at the same time, selecting the ratio, and hitting the B button. However, this can only be done from the main menu. Once you are in a particular title, you are stuck with whichever ratio has been selected. It's a minor gripe, but you'll find yourself constantly switching back to the main menu to adjust settings appropriately. All things considered, this is a great machine. I also highly recommend the Namco Museum variant by My Arcade. It has Pac Man, Galaga, Xevious, Mappy, Dig Dug and over a dozen other retro titles. Both of these machines sit perfectly on my desk at home, and transport me back to those carefree video arcade days of the 1980s and 1990s. Except this time, the quarters stay in my pocket. ... show more

  • Most fantastic Amazon purchase yet
Style: Data East Hits
All original code properly licensed. This is rare. In fact I think this is the pnly company that does it but you have to get the mimi players not the smaller ones.

  • Just received and it does not turn on at all
Style: Data East Hits
I plugged it in and unit does not work at all. I am returning for a refund. I tried a different cable in case it was the reason for not working (tried the cable from my Namco museum Arcade mini, but doesn’t work still). Very disappointed.

  • Pleasing to the eye, but know what you're getting. AKA: Extremely cheap for $80 in the worst ways.
Style: Data East Hits
When you first witness this tiny arcade cabinet sitting on a desk or table, it has an immediate sell as an impressive little retro arcade-style device. The power button is the coin slot, it lights up, brilliant! Once you get your hands on this thing though, that is where this device starts falling short sadly. Yhe most glaring thing you'll notice is that it is made of PLASTIC (Cheap Plastic). For close to $100, I would expect some faux wood or something a bit more sturdy (I would have even paid a little more for this), especially with the new era of "Arcade Cabinets in your home" becoming a thing. Some other places this falls short is the cheap plastic also used for the buttons, which are very squishy, and the single tiny speaker is VERY under powered (not to mention shoots out the back of the device!??). The audio issue can least this can be overcome by the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack. The final nail in this thing's coffin though is the software, it's great that these games run without any noticeable slowdowns, however the games look horrible! This is due to pretty awful scaling and stretching to fit the actually impressive small 16:9 display. A small software update might have made this thing worth the money if it included a menu to change aspect ratio, but alas. Please take the previous notes as you will, as the only redeeming factor that this thing has is it runs Android (evident from the stock Android volume slider that shows when you adjust the volume), and can be modified to turn this thing into a retro powerhouse. If you're a tinkerer who can find this on sale (I got mine for $15), or someone that has some extra income and is looking for a neat little desk toy that's awful to play, go for it! Just know what you're getting. Better luck next time Data East Classics! ... show more
