  • A good retro gaming experience...with a few minor complaints
Style: Data East Hits
If you love Burger Time, Shoot Out, Heavy Barrel, Karate Champ (or any of the 30 other retro titles) this tiny arcade game is highly recommended. The emulation is 100% faithful, and for 80s arcade enthusiasts like myself, that is very important. So many of these retro games are emulated with NES or Atari ROM sets. That doesn't provide a very good replication of most coin-op titles from my experience. Luckily, the Data East Classics mini player satisfies even the toughest critic when it comes to authenticity of emulation. The screen is decent, though the contrast with deep black leaves a little to be desired. Still, these 80s arcade games look very vivid and lifelike on the screen. The controls are remarkably responsive for being so tiny. Sound quality is excellent, plus you can adjust the volume or even listen through headphones if you prefer. One minor complaint is the display ratio adjustment. You can adjust the settings (Full Screen, 4:3, or Original) by holding COIN + BACK buttons at the same time, selecting the ratio, and hitting the B button. However, this can only be done from the main menu. Once you are in a particular title, you are stuck with whichever ratio has been selected. It's a minor gripe, but you'll find yourself constantly switching back to the main menu to adjust settings appropriately. All things considered, this is a great machine. I also highly recommend the Namco Museum variant by My Arcade. It has Pac Man, Galaga, Xevious, Mappy, Dig Dug and over a dozen other retro titles. Both of these machines sit perfectly on my desk at home, and transport me back to those carefree video arcade days of the 1980s and 1990s. Except this time, the quarters stay in my pocket. ... show more

  • Real arcade games!!
Style: Data East Hits
Yep this is the real deal. It’s pretty much a larger version of the My Arcade mini cabs as you would expect. Same quality design and build, with a larger screen. Except this one is loaded with 34 Data East classics and not just the NES version like the smaller cabs, but the actual original arcade versions (yes!!!!). Most of the big ones are there including one of my all time favorite childhood arcade games ever : Bad Dudes!!!! But strangely, other good ones such as Ring King and Robocop were left out....oh well. Can’t have it all...or can we.......? Anyways what’s keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the lack of battery option like the smaller cabs. This one comes with a decent length micro usb power adapter that plugs into an outlet. You can also plug a regular micro usb cable into another power which can power it too. But does it really require a wired power source to run this..? Personally, I feel that small arcade cabs like these should be very portable and I tend to move it around depending on my mood and to have this plugged in all the time is a bummer. So I decided to get a cheap battery pack and Velcro it on the back of the cab. Problem solved! So if you looking for one hell of retro arcade trip with your very own arcade cab to bring with you where ever you go...get this. Now. ... show more

  • Mostly Great; Almost Great
Style: Data East Hits
There are things to like about this game system: * I like most of the games * I like the size * The screen is fairly nice * It feels relatively well built (iffy on the joystick though.) What's not so good: * The screen is stretched for all of the games. It not only looks ugly but makes some of them more difficult to play. They really should have given an option to switch to pixel perfect display or at least uniform fill. This is just plain laziness since they are using MAME under the hood, anyways. * No high score saves. Would have been nice: * A few more games like Karnov's Revenge, etc. * Batteries (I followed the example of another reviewer here and velcro'd a power bank to the back. Works great.) I'm docking a star off for the screen stretching. It is just that bad of an idea to do that and makes the games look quite ugly. I'll eventually be doing the hack to get other emulators on there so eventually it won't be an issue for me. ... show more

  • Nice set of arcade titles
Style: Data East Hits
This little machine is a bit on the expensive side, but given how many quarters I put into various arcade machines back in the day ... anyway nice set of old arcade titles. Do make sur that you plan on rigging a battery pack to the machine. That’s an additional expense you should just plan on. I picked a little 2100 mah battery and I get several hours of playtime per charge. ... show more

  • Nice arcade
Style: Data East Hits
Nice arcade. There is a way to mod it and put more games on it if you are savvy. The games that it come with are okay, but not the greatest. Runs on android so add some other to boost the game choices and you got a great little arcade.

  • Nice set of games, joystick is not super responsive, espeicially in Pac man
Style: Data East Hits
I give this a B+ overall. These types of games are reliant on stick response. IF it is 1/4 second slow, the game could be ruined. I still like the nostalgic games I played as kid. Some games I never heard of. Graphics are as they were in the full size video game parlors of yesteryear.

  • Grandson Approved
Style: Data East Hits
Bought this mini arcade for my 12-year old grandson, who loves this and all of the included 35 video games. It's also great that it doesn't need batteries like most video games (it uses micro USB power adapter), and I was impressed that the sound was really good considering the size of the arcade.

  • Most fantastic Amazon purchase yet
Style: Data East Hits
All original code properly licensed. This is rare. In fact I think this is the pnly company that does it but you have to get the mimi players not the smaller ones.
