Description

This is a brand new MXR 5150 EVH Overdrive guitar pedal. MXR collaborated with Eddie himself to design this pedal and the result is a highly versatile pedal with hand-adjusted multi-stage MOSFETS and plenty of controls to deliver a full range of the powerfully saturated and hyper-driven tones he is known for. The gain knob will conjure up everything from his early classic tones to the high-gain, super articulate sound he uses today. The 3-band passive tone stack works beautifully allowing you to set the EQ to taste. The boost switch works wonderfully to kick the pedal into even higher gain territory with nice compression and the gate control powered by the smart gate circuit tames unwanted noise.

  • EVH 5150
This has to be one of my favorite distortion pedals I own. It really gives that Van Halen punch without spending lots of money on more expensive amps and you can get as good of a sounds on your basic electric guitars. I love the gate option which cuts out all that feedback or unwanted noise after you let up from playing ... show more

  • Very versatile, great tone
I'm using this to replace a Boss Metal Zone...sort of. I was using the Metal Zone more as a boost, to give my tone that extra "zing" when I needed it. It does that well, but it also has a bit of a "pinched" quality to the sound. It's hard to describe. Well, the 5150 doesn't have that issue; it gives me all of the saturation I need, but with a big and round tone, not pinched. I'm keeping the Metal Zone, but it's now been replaced as the main boost/overdrive. The 5150 pedal is never described as such, but I find it to be an excellent "Marshall in a box." There are many out there, and this is definitely one of the better ones. It has a very amp-like quality. I use it in conjunction with a Boss GT-100, and the two are a perfect match. I've been keeping the gain set at about 11:00 and the volume down to about 10:00, and it's a perfect mix for my playing style. ... show more

  • Sounds amazing
So I’ve been looking for a overdrive pedal to capture this exact sound. Sounds amazing even on my combo amp.

  • Awesome
This pedal is incredible. It really sounds like Eddie Van Halens guitar signature. The tone, and clean channel this pedal creates is really amazing.
