    • The detents are not spot on
I expected this to be an easy review. Mount this to my drill press and make some measurements with my electronic level. Two things to comment on: 1. The small metal pointer was not aligned correctly. When set to any of the 5 degrees detents, the point was ~1/2 degree off. Not a big deal if you're using the detents, but if you're going in-between, that's an issue. Fortunately, the pointer can be shifted. I had to do some filing, flip the pointer, and slide it over a bit. It seems to be aligned. So, good design feature to make it adjustable, but I should not have had to make that adjustment out of the box or do filing. It should have come properly adjusted. 2. I went through many of the dent angles (every 5 degrees). NOW, I admit, some of this could be my angle measurement device. I got measurements anywhere from spot-on to ~.20 degrees difference. I suspect for most projects, this difference is in the mud. However, I seemed to be able to tighten the protractor in a detent in a range of 0.3 - 0.4 degrees, specifically the 0 degrees detent. A bit disappointing. I do want my zero to be zero. The protractor is a handy accessory, but when I use it, I will make sure to check the results (e.g. dry fit) before drilling additional holes. ... show more

    • High quality item, good for setting drilling angles
This is a good tool and works great for a quick reference or setup on not so critical parts. I also like to use as a quick check for determining tram on the head of my milling machine. Works a lot faster than getting out the dial indicators and angle blocks at least for a quick check!
