Designed to protect feet in temperatures as low as -40 °F (-40 °C), Muck Arctic Sport High Performance Tall Steel Toe Insulated Men's Rubber Work Boots feature 5 mm neoprene that is 100% waterproof and shock-absorbent. The material retains heat and flexibility, adjusting to the natural contours of the feet for supportive comfort. Insulation consists of warm fleece linings and thermal foam to add protection between the soles of the feet and the boot's molded outsole. Rubber overlays on these insulated work boots rise above the ankle for excellent moisture protection when walking in deeper snow and slush. The steel toe in these men's work boots offers good protection against impacts and heavy falling objects. The story began in 1999 with the sole purpose of building the most comfortable, high performance footwear on the market. I spent the winter of 2011-2012 in Glacier National Park, Montana. It started snowing in early November, and I quite literally didn't see bare ground until April 13th. The temperature averaged +5F, with a high temp all winter of +35F and a week of sub -20F weather. It was a cold and snowy winter (which actually was disappointingly tame compared to many winters here--as one who loves severe weather, I was a little disappointed!). I purchased these boots after two weeks of using tennis shoes and lightweight boots in the snow. Anything would have been an improvement but these things were amazing. Even with temperatures approaching -30F, my feet were toasty and dry. When things warmed up, they remained comfortable, never becoming too warm. They are incredibly easy to put on: no lacing, your feet just slide in. Properly sized, the boot is comfortsbly snug; I never felt as though my foot might slip out, and at no time did my foot feel cramped. Removing the boots is only slightly more difficult. I found that by stepping on the heel of one boot, I could fairly easily slip out of the other boot. I was initially concerned that I might damage the heel doing this, but after a full season of daily wear (and for several hours each day), there is no evidence of any problems. Still, this winter I intend to invest in a boot remover just to make removal slightly easier and to ensure I don't do any damage. One indispensable feature of this boot is the ability to insert custom orthotics. I have used custom orthotics for years. Even in some running shoes, orthotics don't fit well, which causes almost immediate pain in my knees and feet, making standing and walking extremely painful. Because of this, I was very concerned about how wearable these boots might be, it is a great testament that I actually regretted having to go back to my shoes in the spring. The included arch supports remove easily, and once removed, my orthotics fit perfectly. At no time did I ever experience discomfort in my feet or knees. These boots were recommended to me by several locals. Many of them use the higher knee-level boots for hunting in the winter, and they all raved about their comfort, warmth, and durability. A few times during the heavier snowfalls, snow entered the boot from the top and made the interior lining moist. However, the boots dried out within hours without need for a boot dryer. I could not have survived the winter here without these boots, but more importantly, these boots made the winter really enjoyable. Hopefully, next winter will be a bit colder and snowier; with these boots I'm well prepared to experience the truly extreme winter I crave. ... show more

So far keeps me dry and toasty in flowing sub freezing water. Can be hot for days above freezing and without some good baby powder can leave you drenched in sweat. The steel toe is standard, heavier than leather westerns with composite, but worth it even on extended shifts. Mud slides off mostly and easily sprays clean at a carwash. The tread pattern has had me slip on mud when above freezing. I wouldn't trust not to slip on oil. If you work in snow these are essential. And for the price you'll save money getting these once compared to cheap freezing Wally world mucks 5 times a year ... show more

I bought these to replace the worn regular Arctic Sport Muck boots I purchased 3 years ago; I feed my horses in winter through the mud and snow and spend time outdoors with my dogs , etc. I decided to try these boots with the extra toe protection--they are really comfortable and well fitting . I am an older woman usually wearing a size 10M woman's but buy the size 8M's in the men's,which fit me perfectly and which for some reason always seem sturdier to me than the women's. The boots are as described as far as the width and fit are concerned. I haven't had a chance to try out the waterproof feature but I am sure it will be fine hopefully as long as the last pair I bought. They are very comfortable and warm, with super good tread ,and the steel toe protection does not interfere with the fit at all. The only con is that they are in my opinion way too expensive to make up for any difference in these and the regular Arctic Sports boots ( or at least they were when I bought mine). I had plenty of Amazon Chase card rewards or I wouldn't have bought them. They are really nice boots though, and are a necessary winter article for me. ... show more

I AM IN LOVE with these Muck Boots! I have always bought the cheap knock off brands as I abuse the heck out of my boots and thought these wouldn't hold up on my ranch/farm. But this Fall when my cheap ones fell apart, I decided to take the leap. OMG!!! These are amazing. I am out in the weather every day, sometimes all day, in all kinds of weather. The morning that it was -18 outside I just didn't want to brave the weather, but the animals needed to be fed. So I geared up and slid these on and headed out. My feet NEVER got cold! It was glorious! I love the heavy duty sole as well, I have only slipped on the ice once, and it was my own fault. So far they have been stepped on my pigs, sheep, goats, been dragged across many surfaces and they look good as new. If you have outside chores/work, you will not go wrong with these boots. UPDATE: I have had my boots over 6 mos now and I am still in love with them. Except for a few scuffs they show no signs of wear! My feet only got cold when I was deep in snow for extended periods of time. I can’t recommend these enough! ... show more

    • Nice quality boots that'll keep your feet from freezing

These are really nice quality boots and I like them. The downside is they are really hard to get off. I struggle every time, especially with my right one as that foot is bigger than the left (due to deformity of my bones after a terrible fracture a few years ago) and I wear thick socks to help keep my feet toasty, so my right foot especially is snug inside the boot, but not uncomfortably so. To get it off I use a chair and put the heel over the cross piece between the legs and pull. The left one comes off easier with effort of my right toes on the heel. These have good traction on the soles and very well insulated. I've not had hot feet that others have mentioned with these yet. All I ask is that they keep my feet from freezing which they do. ... show more

We live at 8700 ft in Colorado with quite a long driveway and no plow attachment for the truck so the drive gets cleared by snowblower and depending on the moisture content of the snow and the depth it can take quite a while to do it. It can also be damn cold and slick. These boots have performed quite well in those conditions through several snow storms since they were purchased. I bought these for my husband based on previous reviews and I am glad I did. He loves them and that is saying something, he has very picky feet. He struggles with sweaty feet which can lead to odor and athletes foot so he doesn't normally wear waterproof boots because they don't allow his feet to breathe. When we moved to the mountains and he started spending hours out in the cold and snow his feet were freezing and it took twice as long to clear the driveway after each storm so we needed to find him a good boot. These are most certainly that. He doesn't have an issue with his feet overheating but they stay plenty warm and dry, they are easy to get on and off, provide good traction on the steep and slick parts of the driveway and are comfortable to wear for hours.
