You honestly can't get anything better than the MSI MPG Z790 Edge Wifi motherboard. As someone invested in MSI products, it's safe to say I'm a little bit biased, but this motherboard has all of the bells and whistles you could possibly need. I bought it due to it supporting 12th and 13th gen intel CPUs as well as DDR5. I intend to keep this PC build, and hence the motherboard for a long time, so I wanted to future proof a bit. The BIOS was a little lackluster - as I couldn't find a way to manually select booting from my 2TB M.2 SSD, although it was recognized. Unplugging the 2.5" SSD rectified the issue and allowed me to install windows directly to the M.2 (although it still didn't show clearly in the boot order). Other than this the BIOS is intuitive and user-friendly. The build quality of the board is very nice, overall I have no complaints and it holds up well so far - (I admit to a minor unintentional drop and it sounded rough, but nothing broke and there's no issues.) The labeling is intuitive, and you have many, many plugs and ports. (you'll never realistically be able to use all of the M.2's and SATAs, but you have options for many drives if you have an extensive game library.) My two chief complaints with this motherboard are the instructions in the box and the price. The instructions are vague, uninformative and have no words - only pictures and QR codes that link you to videos (which are somewhat helpful but just give me a description!). I highly recommend going to MSI's website and downloading the full user manual for your motherboard, as it will answer all your questions. Regarding price: you can buy other, less flashy motherboards for significantly less than I paid. Even more so if you stick to DDR4 motherboards. My desire to future proof and use MSI however, convinced me to pay the price I did. Overall, great motherboard. It's sleek, has an RGB gaming dragon logo integrated into it, has an ez debugging LED system (very useful), and a pretty easy to use BIOS. I will come back to update this in the future if anything arises. Edit: I came back just to say I still haven't had any issues with this motherboard. Absolutely solid purchase and I stand by it almost 3 years later.

Sleek Looks Sleek Power

So the board looks awesome! I looked at similar boards for the price and this fit my style. I have also been buying MSI products for a while, motherboards, gpu's as well so I knew I could trust the brand. All the heatsinks make it twice as heavy as my previous z390 board, its like two put together. I was aiming for a white build, but then I saw this one and although it wasn't white, it was silver.. Which actually is my favorite color anyways! But this grade of silver is close to white anyways and looks brilliant. I really love the dragon rgb effect! I can't really think of anything else this motherboard could possibly need. I like the amount of nvme slots, that it actually has an optical out for my audio needs, the power phases and tuning for undervolting and overclocking or underclocking, which has been a thing of mine for a few years. The extra power phases may come in handy. This board was for 13 series and didn't exactly post immediately, but what happened was it output to the intel onboard card, which I put my cable into it and found that to be true. After using the really easy MFLASH i was able to get it back to my main monitor and detect my 4080 GPU no problem. This motherboard is definitely everything you need, I like this tier very much as any tier below sacrifices too much. I like how it has 5 nvme slots, that should be very important for any kind of task you choose, files are getting larger and larger. Overall, I can't really fault any weakness with this product. I kinda wish the bios lets you set exact voltage but instead it is in offset. However, I think that's how Intel is designed and prevents disasters to the cpu. I actually don't know, and could be by design as mentioned. I definitely will keep buying MSI as I haven't been disappointed yet.

Another Quality MSI Board!

A solid board with a lot of ports, modern rear I/O, solid VRM cooling, and solid power delivery that doesn't break the bank! Installation was a breeze no problems out of the gate with my i7 13700k, 6k mhz DDR with XMP enabled. Didn't have play with timings or voltages to get the max frequency of my RAM kit. Happy to say there is ZERO coil whine on my board which is refreshing after returning a Gibabyte board for that very reason. I know it's not a defect, but it's very annoying especially if you have sensitive hearing and are in a quiet environment. Ethernet wasn't working out of the box but was rectified with updating the drivers. I just connected to wifi to bypass that "issue" which to be fair, I can see as an annoyance. Looks great in my black Lian Li Mesh II RGB case and I have zero complaints. MSI fan boy for life!

Excellent motherboard

I bought this board as an emergency replacement for another brand that failed. At the time I had a 12900K CPU and 32 gigs DDR5 EXPO ram (yes it will use ram that’s rated for AMD and even will run that speed) Ive got a Nvidia RTX 4600 TI 16 on the first slot that’s running properly at 8x. I have an Intel Arc 770 special edition that I tried just to see that it will support a 16x card comfortably. I haven’t done a lot of overlocking other than what the Intel app lets me try. Instead I recently upgraded to a 13900KS and went to water cooling Via MSI’s three fan setup, which keeps I at around 30C at idle vs the 26C the 12th was running. I’ve got all 5 M2 slots filled, in addition to another 5 SSD’s and one ESATA port for my BluRay recorder. The board has a decent amount of USB ports in different speeds and generations that are all marked fairly well. It has plenty of fan connections and pump connection which can all be controlled via an app along with the lighting control. I’ve had zero issues with this board, it’s very well made and reliable.

Built a new rig with this,using a 13900KF, 64GB memory, a 4090, and 4 M.2 drives. The only issue I have with it so far is that one of the SATA ports becomes inactive when an m.2 drive is put into slot M2_3. It would have been nice to have that information in the tech specs instead of having to find it in the manual. BTW, this MB does not come with a manual. First MB I have ever bought that didn't come with a manual. Which isn't a big deal as long as you have another device to look it up on. Because once you tear down your computer to start building a new one suddenly you don't have a way to easily get on a web site. Other than that this seems to be a good MB at a reasonable price. Have only been running it for a couple of days but so far so good :)

Best MSI motherboard
