I updated the BIOS to work with 11th Gen Intel, which saved me a good amount of money. What else can I say? It's a good motherboard that has those fancy covers on the VRMs and some of the M.2 slots and the IO connectors are good quality. BIOS is MSI's BIOS so works pretty easily. Solid ATX board.

I bought this motherboard because I needed a Z490 from a respectable brand, and well, based on online reviews, this was the best bang for my buck, and although there were lower-priced options, since I wanted a Realtek 1200 codec, for a good audio quality, I chose this, and I can say that I'm pretty satisfied. I love the audio quality that I get from this board, I don't hear any interference of any kind, the sound is clear, and the 7.1 audio is so sweet. The MSI Debug LED's are really helpful when troubleshotting. You have the option to connect a 8+4 pin for the CPU, in the case you want to overclock, and my i7-10700KF runs great with really good VRM's. The included I/O shield may be bulky for some but I like it. And, although I would have wished that more than one of the two M.2 slots had an included heatsink, which is not really needed, but it would have been amazing to get another one of those heatsinks, but of course, that must come at a premium. ... show more

Works great with my i7-10700f. Runs Star Citzen on high graphics at 40fps. Could be my isp making it lower than expected though. MSI extra apps and software on disc were a joke though. Dragon app is worthless and degrades performance. OBS capture software was way outdated and also interfere with my Nvidia capture program. Just download your needed drivers and nothing else. RGB on board is nice and subtle. Mystic color program tied into dragon app so I don't know how that works. ... show more

    • Be Watchful of Bad RAM Ports **UPDATED**

Last week I purchased all the components needed for a new PC including the MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus Motherboard. My cousin and I spent the time meticulously putting everything together. Once everything was put together I could power up but could not boot. EZ LED diagnostics were flashing "DRAM is not detected or fail." I removed the memory from DIMMB2 and successfully booted with only one 16G card in DIMMA2. I thought maybe it could only initially read 16gb of RAM and just needed updated drivers. I also swapped the chips out to verify both chips were not defective. "They both work just fine on their own." I then installed Windows 10 and then the MSI drivers. I tried again putting the other RAM chip into DIMMB2 and got the same issue. I then moved the chip into DIMMA1 and the PC booted. I got a message saying "Memory modules were found on non-optimized memory slot." Even though I got that message Windows 10 then loaded anyways. I initially figured it was okay because the windows was actually reading 32GB of RAM. However, while starting to install everything I got a blue screen of death. I then ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and it stated "Hardware problems detected" and "Your PC needs repaired". I removed the RAM chip and powered it back up and it works just fine. I have spent hours working on this and I can confidently say that the DIMMB2 port is bad. I have ordered a replacement and will update my review once everything has been swapped out. **UPDATE** After spending hours upon hours on this build trying to get everything right and finding that the issue is most likely due to a couple of bent pins on the board where the CPU goes, I am too tired and annoyed to take everything apart for the new motherboard do I decided to just bite the bullet and just stick with the 1 RAM chip. 32gb of RAM was more of a want than a need for me anyways as I just game with it. Other than the RAM issue, this motherboard and PC run like a dream now. I'll go ahead and upgrade the review from 1 to 4 reviews. I think the issue is honestly just due to some mishandling on Amazon's end. I selected this mother board for my first computer build, there are so many motherboards on the market, and honestly, I cannot tell you why I picked this one. I had watched so many product reviews and this one just kept checking the boxes that I needed to have checked. WiFi, Type C, and Gen 2 USB 2.5 gig Lan were the boxes I wanted checked. So, I bought it, and built my first computer. No problems so far, its been three weeks and no problems. I am not a gamer, and I do not plan on overclocking the chip on this board. However, there are all the tools to do it. This MB, costs more then a few of the other choices, but from my perspective, it looks to be worth the small premium. ... show more
