  • A bit skeptic but great board, could update BIOS with 13th gen
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
I originally bought this board because its the only board devoid of all the gamer graphics and ugly designs that have become commonplace. After reading a handful of reviews that people couldn't update their BIOS unless they had a 12th gen, I took a leap of faith and bought this on Warehouse. I was starting a build for a friend with the 12th gen processor anyways so I had a fallback. The BIOS version it shipped with was from 1/23 and I was able to update the BIOS to the latest 9/23, no problem. With that being said, this board has a lot of features that are outlined in other reviews. My only complaint with this board is it's in the MEG lineup, which commands a premium price. Instead of including a bunch of stickers and cables I won't use, give me two options for the I/O plate. I understand it's against the grain of industry standard, but I would've loved to see a raw metal backplate with different color sticker overlays aside from black. ... show more

  • Great ITX mobo
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
No issues like other ITX motherboards. Clean design. Lian Li Galahad AIO fit with no issues. Not much else to say but to buy this if you're doing an ITX build. One thing is that the thermal pad on the m.2 heatsink does not touch the SSD. You will need to replace this with something thicker. It did not make contact with my 980 Pro. ... show more

  • Great ITX Board, Bad Cooler Compatibility
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
I love this board. It’s got a ton of features, and it’s just so stable with my 12700K. That said, the only problem I ran into is that standard AIO coolers will not fit this board. Even MSI’s 280 LiquidCool doesn’t fully fit. You cannot put the shroud on the water block. The Liquid Freezer II absolutely will not fit this board. ... show more

  • Extremely well-built board
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
I bought the MSI Z690I unify because it was the most feature-packed motherboard. I was a bit worried about the VRM fan being loud, but It's been silent in operation. Setup and the uEFI screen were great, and my RAM had no issues running at the XMP profile. I'm a satisfied customer.

  • A Five Star Board
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
No doubt this is a five star board once you get it working. it is a 1 star board with respect to BIOS configuration and quality control. My first board would randomly hang and "white screen" in BIOS setup. After RMA, the replacement board would 50-50 fail XMP memory clock test on restart and also fail to configure Thunderbolt on alternate restarts. Having tried every BIOS from 7D29v11 to the current 7D29v1F, I am now able to, pass XMP, and bring Thunderbolt online with PCIe tunneling enabled on every restart. Disable DTBT Go2Sx and disable-PCIe tunneling -> reboot -> re-enable PCIe tunneling. These should be BIOS optimized defaults, but they are not. ... show more

  • Still shipping with no 13th Gen support
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
I can't believe that almost a year after the launch of the 13th Gen Intel processors a motherboard. Especially when even on their own website it's marked "Hot" which means they should have depleted old stock. Now I either have to go on a wild goose chase for a 12th gen processor to use for 10 min or a computer shop that charges me less than the cost of a cheap 12th gen processor. My first MSI experience is going super great! ... show more

  • First Mini-ITX build, a success. Great Mobo.
Style: MEG Z690I UNIFY
I had previously owned a MSI MEG ACE Z390 / 9700k / 2080ti, and despite not skimping on any crucial parts such as PSU, I had stability issues like crazy (5+ BSODs) with even slight overclocks, so I was naturally a little gunshy about MSI Mobos. Turns out, as I suspected originally, the CPU was faulty. This was apparent the moment I hooked up this beautiful motherboard and paired it with a 12700k (overclocked to 5.3ghz). This PC hums along without any problems whatsoever, and I haven't had a single BSOD in 10 days of heavy use. MSIs bios gui has been updated as is easier to use than previous generations, I must add. If there's one single complaint, and believe me this is nitpicky but the pins for the fan and usb headers bend way easier than one would expect for such an expensive unit. So, be careful not to leave fans plugged into the mobo if you end up having to re-seat the motherboard into the case for any reason. Great motherboard, MSI. ... show more
