I built my first PC in early October with the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi Gaming Motherboard, pairing it with an AMD 7800X3D CPU, and it’s been fantastic for gaming. This motherboard offers all the features you need for a smooth, high-performance experience. After a month of gaming with it I can comfortably say it works fine, had a few hiccups like issues with the ram speed but I fixed it. Pros: Solid Build Quality: The board feels sturdy, with high-quality components that give me confidence in its longevity. Plenty of SSD Slots: With multiple SSD slots, it’s perfect for anyone needing lots of fast storage options. Especially the PCIe 5.0 slot. Strong Connectivity & Efficient Cooling: The WiFi 6E connection is stable and fast, and the cooling design keeps everything running cool, even during long gaming sessions. It comes with ssd heat-sinks for the PCIe 5.0 slot and two PCIe 4.0 slots, which is cool if your ssd doesnt have a manufacturer heat-sink. I will also mention you should always try to use an Ethernet cable before WiFi, but if you cant this motherboard doesn't disappoint. Slight Pro: Convenient BIOS Reset: The easy BIOS reset pin is incredibly handy for beginners, it can be a little intimidating, but I appreciate the quick access of its location. If anything happens, all it takes is a screwdriver to short-circuit the pins to reset. Minor Con: One of the SSD slots is located behind the GPU area, which isn’t the most accessible, especially if you have a beefy GPU like the 7900 XTX. However, with the extra slots available, this isn’t hardly a big issue. There is also no paper manual included, its a little fustraiting when building for the first time and all your other parts do the same thing and give you a QR code to scan and you have swap browsers and such when you all you could do is just grab the paper. Overall, the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi is an excellent choice for first-time builders like myself and/or seasoned gamers. It combines ease of setup, great features, and strong performance. Of course, do your research on compatible components, PC Part picker is a great site to use for looking at things like that. I highly recommend this motherboard!

Currently using this motherboard on the this PC to write this review. This thing is amazing. Pros: 1. Bios is easy to use and upgrade, walks you through step by step. 2. Bios interface is great and you can find all the settings you need without having to guess or hunt for them. 3. Speed and compatibility with all my other peripherals connected to it is great. GFX Card, Memory, SSD etc. 4. Has loads of options and expansion slots for USB-C, USB3 and Ethernet, Built-in Audio etc. 5. While building my PC I found that the pins are all clearly marked and located in convenient spots. 6. Comes with 3 slots for SSD HD and even has provisions for future expansion on SSD Speeds/formats. Cons: No real issues or Cons on this product. I did experience some odd situations on startup where it would hang on the prost screen with a blinking cursor, but a quick look up of the issue revealed that this was a Bios setting and turning off the built in audio setting fixes this. It's a bug and I assume it will be fixed in a future Bios update.

This is my first MSI motherboard. I bought this board a little over 6 months ago, and was initially rather pleased, however have recently been unhappy. My motherboard stopped recognizing my RAM, causing constant crashes. From this I submitted an RMA which cost me $30 to ship back to repair. After about a month, I received the replacement motherboard, which came out of the package with some bent pins (thankfully these pins were unimportant) and is unable to read the CPU temp. I received this board under a week ago, and am already having to go through support as it's also defective. At this point l'm frustrated and unlikely to buy another MSI product and would probably recommend anyone else stay away.

The MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi Gaming Motherboard looks great, and the performance has been excellent, but it almost gave me a heart attack when building my new PC. I paired this MB with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and the red light came on. So, I took off the cooler and checked everything out, and re-installed. The red light came on again, so I left it on for 5 minutes, and it finally booted into windows set up. After setting up windows and restarting, the red light came back, along with the yellow light for DRAM. I was incredibly worried and 5 minutes later, it started up again. While in bios mode, I change the RAM speed to 6000mhz, and then the DRAM light lit up again. At this point I was thinking about returning, but I cooled my head and went to the MSI website, downloaded the latest bios on a USB. After flashing the newest bios on the MB, it started to work perfectly. Lights don't come on and RAM is stable. So know this- this board is great, but it needs to be flashed with latest bios or you may have issues like me. Do not enable XMP until you do this.

When building my latest PC, I really wanted a front USB C port. I did not realize how few options there were. I found a case (Pop XL Air) that had it (after buying an additional cable) and then I needed a motherboard with the correct header, otherwise you can find an adapter for a 2.0 header but suffer from 2.0 speeds. My search led me to this X670E Tomahawk and it had almost every feature I could want! For starters, it has the Type-C front header, three M.2 slots with heatsinks, plenty of RGB headers, onboard Wi-Fi, the preinstalled I/O shield AND a cool BIOS with a dedicated USB for flashing. The only possible way the board could be better is if there were more rear USB ports! There are 6 Type-A ports and 2 Type-C. And only 2 of those 6 Type-A ports are 3.2 - I would definitely prefer if all were 3.2. Now, normally I hate hardware that relies on software. While you can use this motherboard without the MSI Center app, I actually believe it is decent software. It bundles a bunch of different features but what was important to me was Cooling Wizard and Mystic Lights. It made it so I could pare down on software installs. Cooling Wizard let me adjust the fan curves for anything plugged into the multiple fan headers. And finally, since I went with different brands for other components, I was able to use Mystic Lights to adjust the lighting on my Thermalright AIO, Kingston RAM, RGB fans and RTX 3080.

A very good mid range mobo that has all the features a normal user could desire. Lots of fast USB Type A and Type C ports. 2 ARGB headers for lots of fans like mine and conveniently placed to make plugging stuff easy. Manual doesnt come in the box so I recommend printing it out before you start. I have had it for a year and no issues and its been reliable. Keep on top of BIOS updates if you have any issues otherwise leave it alone. So glad I went with MSI!

Pros: - Price (A lot of these boards are very expensive for what seems like no reason). - NVME Slots (There are a lot of them, if you have the money and don't need massive amounts of space you could just use these. I currently use 2 of them and a bigger HDD for storage. - Construction seems very solid - Quick updates from MSI over the 7800X3D fiasco (I updated before I Installed my 7800x3d and have had zero issues) - MSI Quality (ASUS used to be my go to brand for motherboards but after my last build and how many issues I had I made the switch to MSI and couldn't be happier I did) Cons: - Detaching large graphics cards (4090) from their slots can be a real pain. Use the end of a pen to do so and be careful not to press to hard as it might slip and hit the motherboard. I wish there was an easier way to do this. - Instructions could be better with better pictures and labels. Headers were a pain in the A** to install but that is pretty typical.
