  • Great. Quiet. Cool.
Style: MAG A850GL PCIE5
I ordered this power supply when I upgraded my cpu and needed more power. The modular cables made it very easy to install. It works perfectly so far, and runs cool. It doesn't have that strong, acrid, PC electronics smell that some pc components have when unboxed. The 24 pin motherboard connector is at the left side of the front face of this PSU. When installed in my case (and likely many other cases), this puts the motherboard connector at the front of the case. It would be easier if the motherboard connector were at the right side of the front face. This would allow for less visible wiring after installation. Overall though, it's great. ... show more

  • Amazing quality and performance
Style: MAG A850GL PCIE5
Bought this to pair with my 5070 and I must say this PSU puts in work! Super quiet, easy to install and compatible with most cases. If you’re looking to upgrade from non modular (like me) to a best value for money psu; look no further.

  • Exceptional Power Supply for High-Performance Builds!
Style: MAG A850GL PCIE5
I recently purchased the MSI MAG A850GL PCIe 5, and it's been a fantastic addition to my PC setup. This power supply unit (PSU) delivers on all fronts—performance, reliability, and efficiency. The first thing that stands out is its solid build quality and sleek design. The installation was straightforward, and all the cables were clearly labeled, making the process hassle-free. The fully modular design helped keep my build clean and organized, improving airflow and overall aesthetics. In terms of performance, the MSI MAG A850GL PCIe 5 is outstanding. It provides stable and clean power to all my components, ensuring smooth and efficient operation even under heavy loads. The 80 PLUS Gold certification gives me confidence in its energy efficiency, which not only helps lower electricity bills but also reduces heat generation. The PCIe 5.0 support is a significant advantage, future-proofing my build for upcoming hardware upgrades. The included silent fan operates quietly, maintaining optimal temperatures without adding any noise to my environment. I appreciate the comprehensive protection features as well, which safeguard my system from potential power issues. Overall, the MSI MAG A850GL PCIe 5 is a top-tier power supply that meets the needs of demanding users. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or just looking to build a high-performance PC, this PSU is a reliable and efficient choice. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Well built PSU, great price, but i suffered loud coil whine with the 9800x3d + 5070 ti.
Style: MAG A850GL PCIE5
This PSU worked great with my 12700k and 5070 ti. But once I upgraded to the 9800x3d, this thing was buzzing like crazy. The coil whine went off the charts after upgrading my CPU. It seriously was the only fault I had for it. It had plenty of wires included and all the necessary hookups. Its great for the price because its very well built. Cant fault MSI for coil whine on such a great priced PSU. But I ended up replacing it with the MPG a1250gs and its been night and day with coil whine. I dont have any issues with the MPG with coil whine or any noise, seriously quiet as a mouse and buit so well. I honestly have to say I do prefer the braided wires that are included with the MAG 850 over the MPG 1250. ... show more

  • Very nice power supply...but oh the fan noise!
Style: MAG A850GL PCIE5
There's a lot of great things to like about this power supply, including the removable connectors, the many cable options, and the clearly labeled connections. Though I can't speak about longevity yet, I'd assume it will last quite a while. The problem is with the fan. I can't say for certain what the speed was at cold start, and there wasn't any rattling per-se, but the fan was just loud, like way too much air noise for just starting up. I took it apart to investigate, and saw there was a Martech 12V fan being powered by 5V. So this is the lowest voltage setting for this fan, and with heat this will only get faster/louder. For Ss and Gs I powered this stock fan with an external power supply and varied it from 5V to 12V and it did indeed get faster and louder....very loud....like a drone flying around. If this was in your computer, I can guarantee it would be the loudest thing in there...no thanks! An option could be to buy a quieter fan, but due to the voltage speed control in this PSU, there's no way to know (or control for that matter) the speed or temperature. So I bought a standard Noctua 12V fan to replace the stock fan, and wired it to the motherboard. This way, both the temperature and speed can be controlled. Now it's working great, it's much quieter, and I can boost the fan only when the system needs it. ... show more

  • Good.. while it lasts.
Style: MAG A850GL PCIE5
Everything was peachy until almost exactly 8 months after purchase. The fan began to grind and make a ton of noise, frequently stopping completely. Even when cleaned of dust, the fan still put up a huge fuss. Diving into many other reviews, other people also report the fan failing after ~6-9 months. A large community tier list covering hundreds of different power supplies also mentions the fan as a weak point, and I can confirm that was true in at least my case. The PSU was good for the money, no issues with power at all while using it and the cable management was solid as expected. But if the problems I've experienced myself with the fan are anywhere approaching widespread, maybe try another PSU. Even MSI! It just seems this particular model is let down by its fan. Full disclosure: I did not engage with the RMA warranty from MSI. I figured if I was going to have to wait for a replacement that would likely be the same model either new or refurbished and just have it happen again in 6 to 9 months, I'd rather just purchase a new PSU of a completely different model now. Perhaps their RMA service addresses it and puts in a better fan, but I couldn't tell you from experience. ... show more
