  • Latest Official Bios Version 7A34v13 has fixed most Compatibility/Performance issues!!
Style: B350 TOMAHAWK Size: ATX
Don't listen to anyone on here down voting this motherboard due to the lack of an education in the tech Dept. Every brand motherboard is having similar issues atm due to Ryzen being brand new tech. Future bios updates will fix any current issues. That being said this is my second MSI motherboard and I really like the simplicity of this board. Bios overclocking is simple and provides you with all the options to get the job done. The LEDs look great and give the case a stunning look paired with the wraith cooler that's included with the Ryzen 1700. I really enjoy the audio boost built into this motherboard and being able to plug in my Razer Tiamat 7.1 headphones without having to dish out another $140 on a quality sound card. MSI also includes MSI control center which makes overclocking from the desktop a breeze as well as keeping an eye on temps and timings. There is crossfire support which is a big plus. If you're looking to SLI you'll need a more expensive X370 motherboard. If you're not going to SLI and sticking with a single GPU option or looking to crossfire this motherboard is a no brainier! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update There is a beta bios version 1.15 on the MSI forum that is available to download that provides some stability fixes and extra features.Just do a quick google search to find it. There is still memory issues with this board currently so if you have any ram currently running over 2667MHz it will not work and it will default back to 2133.You can however set the ram manually to 2667MHz which is better than nothing until they get this all sorted out. Note: You will need to manually set your ram via BIOS to get it to run anything over 2133MHz. I have been able to overclock my Ryzen 7 1700 to 3.7Ghz with no adjustment to vcore and everything set to auto and it has been rock solid but remember your mile may vary. There have been rumors going around about disabling SMT in the bios "DO NOT DISABLE" on this board or you will end up in an endless boot loop and be forced to pull the battery from the board to clear the cmos I learned the hard way. This 1.15 bios is beta and still being worked on so use at your own risk. Also be sure to set power plan to performance as recommended by AMD if you plan on doing any overclocking or benchmarking! I am using this ram if anyone was wondering https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-PC4-25600-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1489351454&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+vengeance+lpx+16gb ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 3/19/2017 There is another beta bios available version 1.21 on the MSI forum but still no support for ram @ 3200MHz. "From what I have heard AMD has some patches coming around MAY to address some of the memory issues people have been experiencing." I haven't noticed any differences upgrading from version 1.15 to 1.21. I am able to hit 4GHz on this board with 1.4v stable so at least we know what this MB is capable of but don't expect higher due to Ryzen CPU limitations. No matter what anyone says no other MB manufacturer will allow you to overclock higher even on the more expensive X370 MB due to CPU limitations so save yourself some money unless you plan to SLI. If you purchased a 1700x or 1800x I'd return it for the 1700 you will get more bang for your buck but only if you plan on overclocking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: 3/23/2017 MSI has released a new bios version 1.1 which can be obtained thru the website or thru MSI Live Update 6. after updating the new bios version will read 1.31. They noted stability fixes but after flashing from beta 1.21 to 1.31 there are no noticeable differences and still no stable 3200MHz ram fix as of yet. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 3/28/2017 MSI has pulled all betas from there site and no mention why but I'm sure it has something to do with a few MB being bricked. Latest bios version can be obtained thru MSI Live Update 6 or via MSI Website. No more beta support and no ETA if they will release anymore publicly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 4/15/2017 MSI has released another Official Bios update version 7A34v13 which you can download directly from there support page that seems to have fixed most of the major compatibility/performance issues people were experiencing. Also do not forget to go to AMD's site and download the updated balanced power plan fix if you haven't done so already. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 4/27/2017 MSI has released yet another Official Bios update this version is 7A34v14 and they noted - Improved memory compatibility on this release. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 5/8/2017 Another bios update is available version 7A34v15 - Improved memory compatibility. - Fixed PCIe Hot-plug function issue. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 12/12/17 So it's been several months and just wanted to post a small update in case anyone was still on the fence about purchasing this motherboard so close to the arrival of Santa Claus. I'm running the latest Bios 7A34v19 and everything is running perfectly without any problems and couldn't be happier with this motherboard. Great performance and just a terrific product for a great price so on that note I hope everyone has a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... show more

  • Works!
Style: A320M-A PRO Size: mATX
Really expected this to come broken because it took days away from a month to arrive. But once we got it in the pc, we were right back to where we were before it broke. Cheap and it works! Just wish it came weeks prior.

  • BIOS updates may be needed to boot AMD Ryzen 5 2400G
Style: B350M MORTAR Size: mATX
Update: 6/8: This is a bit delayed but I did want to update my review. I upped the rating to 5 stars for several reasons. The reason for the bump to 5 stars: AMD Customer Service, ease of BIOS update, performance of the Ryzen/MSI system, and the price point for the system. AMD shipped me the boot kit I needed to update the BIOS on the motherboard for free. No shipping charges at all. I thought that was great customer service. The BIOS update was dead simple. Downloaded the BIOS update to old computer, put it on a USB Thumb drive, and then boot the new box with the USB Thumb drive plugged in. Of course, I had to do that with the processor that AMD loans out. Once the update was finished, unplug everything, remove the boot chip, put in the new Ryzen, and re-boot. Since I have updated the BIOS, there have been at least 2 updates to the Ryzen drivers. MSI and AMD have some nice software to make the system configuration very dynamic, depending on task and what not. There is a very good review on Tom's Hardware page about the Ryzen setup if you want some really in depth technical info, including benchmarks. The only games I have really played on the system so far are Rift and Skyrim. They both work much better since the latest drivers have been installed so make sure you update if you end up with a Ryzen system. I am really impressed with this system considering that it doesn't have a video card installed. I would not hesitate to build another or to build one of these for someone else. If you are looking for a good computer to pretty much do anything including some gaming, I would put a box built on the Ryzen chip on your list for consideration. The price point is very attractive! Update 3/15: Bumped it a star. AMD contacted me already which was fantastic. They are sending a boot kit and arranging for shipping back which was very nice. I'm awaiting the chip so I can update the BIOS. Hopefully that will go smoothly. I really want to see what this build will do. I'll update after I've received the chip and get things going. Then I can actually review the hardware instead of whine about how it doesn't work out of the box. Guess I'm just trying to share my experience since this has been very abnormal from my previous build experiences. BIOS updates are normal, not booting because of needing a BIOS update is something I've just experienced. I bought a AMD Ryzen 5 2400G chip to use in this motherboard. I'm only giving this product a 2 because I don't know if I like it yet or not. I know that I do not like the hassel that this project has turned into. I received a motherboard that was manufactured about a year ago. The issue is that the BIOS is not updated to allow this new AMD APU to boot. I emailed MSI. They responded quickly but that was useless. It took 4 calls to get the correct number. The numbers on the website and their app are not the correct numbers for motherboard support. Once I had the right number, the MSI person was helpful. Sort of. More like, they had useful information. They said my BIOS was too old to support the new chip. They said I had to contact AMD and request a boot kit. AMD has a program where they will send you a low end APU that the board will boot with. You can use it to update the BIOS to support the new chip. They have several stipulations to be able to take advantage of this program. It seems AMD has their hearts in the right place but this build is turning out to be a pain in the neck. I heard back from AMD right away but have had no updates since I responded with the information they requested. Worst case, I'll send the APU back and figure something else out. I was really excited to build this box to see how the APU performed. Now I'm just tired of dealing with having a pile of non-functioning parts. If I get this thing running, I'll update this review. ... show more

  • Way BETTER support
Style: A320M-A PRO Size: mATX
MSI has the best online support and website when it comes to product information and documentation. That little detail goes a long way when it comes to bios support and product matching. Showing clock speeds for ram, or socket support for diffrent processors can almost be classified information with some manufacturers. As far as this specific MB, micro ATX board can compromise on a lot of features, from fan headers to usb suport. This board has an m.2slot, 3.0 support and boasts a great layout for dimms and fan headers. You will also have the ability to perform over clocks on ryzen series chips and graphics cars. 👌 ... show more
