I purchased this 24k Btu DIY unit to cool a 3-car garage with 11-foot ceilings (~1050 sq ft) and so far, it works great! The inside unit box (air handler) arrived the next day, but there were some complications getting the outside unit (compressor) late due to Fedex dropping the unit and not wanting to deliver a damaged package. When it finally arrived "repackaged", I was sure it was damaged beyond repair. After contacting the vendor (Spreetail) they said I could keep it to install/test it and if it didn't work, I could return it. It turns out this Mr. Cool A/C unit is tough - even with Fedex dropping it off the truck and the cosmetic damage to the compressor, it still runs fine, and it is super quiet. The DIY install was pretty straight-forward and the directions were adequate. I have not been able to get the USB/WiFi controller to work yet, but I will contact the manufacturer to sort that out. The Amazon retailer, Spreetail, was very responsive to my requests and I am a satisfied customer.

This unit is fantastic! Thank God, we knew someone to install it for us and he knew an electrician to do the electrical work. So it all passed the inspection for electricity and building. We love it, and it keeps our downstairs warm where the family room is, and there was no heat in there before. It’s easy to use and well-made. This exact same unit was at one of the big box stores for over 1000 more dollars.

Massively regret this purchase. It is much harder to install than it would appear. I paid HVAC professionals to install and setup the unit, and it would only turn to heat mode (not great in June). Mr. Cool has no technicians, and their support is an email account and a phone call. They tried to walk me through the steps to no avail, and ultimately the unit is nonfunctional. Now I’ve sunk hundreds of dollars into hiring the company, thousands to Mr. Cool, and now I’ve got nothing… and the Mr. Cool support tech has ghosted me. Shameful. Dons be like me and try to cut corners with a DIY kit. Hire a contractor/hvac company to supply and install. I wish Mr. Cool had proper customer support and service given that they lack a brick and mortar. Requiring homeowners to know how to do this stuff on their own is ludicrous.

Great product which was relatively easy to install - I recommend watching YouTube videos on installation as the included directions are fairly vague, IMO. While, yes, technically anyone can handle this project, you should probably be at least minimally handy to attempt it. Reason for the four stars instead of five is the packaging is not great, at least on mine. The bottom of the box isn’t cardboard, its styrofoam holding the box on with tape - mine came with a corner ripped open and at least two components sitting on the ground beside it. When I inventoried, it was missing the adjustable wrenches and the hole saw. In addition, the top of the outside unit was visibly damaged and when I fired it up for the first time, the fan was striking the metal enclosure, requiring me to do a little sheet metal bending to give it clearance. Now I’m guessing that Amazon would have exchanged units or at least got me the tools that were supposed to be included, but I was in a time crunch and already had wrenches and a hole saw so I didn’t go through that process, but when you spend over $2000 on a product you expect the packaging to be bullet proof. But the unit itself is working great and I plan to buy another one for a different areas of the house.

My second unit , first was a 18,000 btu. Sold house with it ,and when we relocated , bought a bigger one for new location. Had the older one for a couple years prior to selling the house with no problems and lots of savings on the electric bill.

This thing works great. I had an issue with my purchase and the seller went above and beyond to rectify the issue. As far as installing it as long as you have a drill you can install it. I got the whole thing done In probably 3 hours. One tip I will give is. When drilling the exshaust hole for the vent make sure you have the exit hole lower than the entrance hole. This is explained in the direction, but dont miss that step additionally make sure you use a stud finder before hand to ensure you are not drilling into a stud. Again this works amazing and was very simple to install I recommend purchasing from this seller as they are quick to help. A +++

So far so good. Pretty straight forward install for a seasoned DIY'er. Got this unit to cool our newly renovated first floor. (Dining, living, + kitchen). Took a solid 6hr install from box to turning on. Not so many tools required. Definitely have to purchase 3.5" hole saw, have 2 adjustable wrenches handy, compressor stand (optional), + shroud to cover up lines at the end. Everything else is included. Works really well, cools down fast, + compressor doesn't take up too much space and is really quiet. Would recommend thus far! Follow the MANUAL!

Customer service was worthless in resolving my problem. The unit itself, once I finally received a unit that had only minor damage, worked great. First unit I received had been dropped hard. Major damage. The second unit I received, had minor damage that does not affect the unit performance and I was tired of dealing w customer service at that point so I didn't return a second time. Once installed, which was very easy, unit has worked flawlessly. Been running for approx 45 days at this point.
