I ordered this Mr. Pen- Windproof Travel Umbrella, Pink Stripes, Automatic Umbrellas for Rain, Compact Umbrella because I needed a new travel umbrella to keep in my purse. I don’t know why travel umbrellas disappear from my bag; I hope they are happily living their best life on their adventures away from me. (Actually, I suspect it has something to do with the fact my family has the well-developed habit of “ borrow Mom’s in a pinch”, and nowhere nearly as developed a habit if “put it back”.) I love the pink and white striped pattern on this umbrella; it has a sort of vintage, old school feel. I’m hoping it might also discourage my husband and teenage son from wanting to borrow this umbrella, because I really like this one a lot! This umbrella has a push button open/close mechanism., very easy to use. It opens to a full 42”, but collapses to a length of slightly over 11”, easy to fit in my large purse or a carry bag. The fabric is Teflon coated to make it extra waterproof. I found the umbrella lightweight, strong, and sturdy. I live in NYC, and the wind can really whip up and down the avenues; the ribs in this umbrella seem very secure, and I haven’t had any blowouts. This umbrella came from Mr. Pen, a small business started by teachers to help provide school supplies for in-need classrooms. I’ve always been pleased with the quality of school/office supplies I’ve received from Mr. Pen, and I like knowing the company donates to in-need classrooms. When looking for an umbrella, I was happy to see the Mr. Pen name; I knew the umbrella would be good quality and I like how the company gives back. This is a strong, sturdy, attractive travel umbrella. At the current price ($6.99) it’s a total bargain!     • Easy and quick opening
Here in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona where I live, it rains very little through the year. But when the monsoon hits, we get rain in buckets, high winds, and we need a sturdy umbrella. It is helpful to also have an umbrella that is easy to carry around in purse or luggage, and that pops open easily before we get drenched. This umbrella really fills the bill. It pops open at the press of a button, and you are ready to go. It offers very good coverage from the rain and is an attractive pale pink and white stripe design. It pops shut with that same button, and then you just push the handle up until it clicks. It is small enough to be stored easily in the car until our monsoon season arrives. I am ready this year! There is a little note included that reads "Thank you for shopping Mr. Pen. It means a lot to us." with a little heart and signed Kaelyn. That is a nice touch. There is also a note telling us that no matter how long it has been, if there is any complaint to let them know for a refund or replacement. Also a nice touch. 5 stars. ... show more

    • Happy PINK and WHITE stays right side out!!
Nice sturdy umbrella, matching pouch is a matching sleeve to store the umbrella in. I went out on a windy rainy day and the umbrella did not turn inside out (I have had that happen with others). My umbrella is a bright PINK and WHITE, I love the color. Stores nicely in my car side pocket.

    • Great inexpensive umbrella
I have some umbrellas I allow my elementary kids to take to school and don't want to risk losing or breaking a $20+ one. For well less than $10, this is a great umbrella. It's a little less than a foot long and pretty lightweight. The auto open and close works great, it actually opens/closes more gently than lots of my other umbrellas, which is great for kids. The umbrella material is pretty thin and the frame seems thin and very flexible. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad, if it will be weak or flexible enough to not break. The handle is quite short so if you're tall you'll have to hold it up high but again, great for kids. ... show more
