I searched for quite a while for a coffee maker with a removable water reservoir that could be thoroughly and easily washed. I also wanted a thermal carafe. This coffee maker has both features. I have my coffee maker under my cabinet, so being able to remove the water reservoir and the basket for the coffee grounds without pulling the whole thing forward is a huge bonus! The settings are easy to navigate. It has a timer that tells you how long the coffee has been made, and it has auto shut off after 2 hours. My coffee has stayed hot for over 2 hours in the thermal carafe. It does not have a heat element under the carafe, so the coffee does not get a burned flavor. The carafe pours well without spilling or leaking. All in all, this coffee pot is an exceptionally great find!! One month update: this is the best coffee makers I’ve ever had, and I’ve had lots of coffee makers! I love everything about it!! The best part is being able to clean each part separately. There’s no mildew or slime build up because you can remove the water reservoir, wash it and let it dry before reusing it. The coffee stays hot for at least 3 hours after it is brewed. I plan to buy another one of these coffee makers when I wear this one out! ... show more

Love the SS carafe. It maintains the heat of the coffee but not hot on the exterior. Easy to use, love the filtering system too. This coffee pot is at a good price point and delivers on the features. Very nice coffee maker. It runs extra hot (205 degrees!) very quickly. The coffee maker turns off the "hot plate" after two hours but the carafe is so well designed the coffee will still stay hot the next day! My only disappointments are - first it's kinda pricey for a coffee maker - I'd be OK with it if it held up better. After about five years (because it runs extra hot I guess) it will begin leaking not from the reservoir but from the brewing section (it leaks cold water though) - Mr Coffee knows about this but it will be out of warranty for a couple of years before it needs replacement (I guess it's worth it).It angers me that Mr Coffee is very well aware of this defective design though - but since I've never had as good a coffee maker as this one before I'm spoiled so this is my replacement for the exact same one I bought about five years ago. ... show more

UPDATE: Please disregard my original review. I’m leaving it for sake of record. 5 days before my manfacturer warranty was up water started leaking out the BOTTOM of the coffee maker. I made sure that I set it up right and did some double checks. Turns out that as soon as the reservoir was placed on the coffee maker, the water was leaking out the bottom. I called Mr. Coffee only to find out that I was sold 2016 July’s model in 2017 January. I was told to email customer service with my order and that I couldn’t be helped over the phone for that reason. So I did, and I got an email stating I would get a reply in 3 days. It has been 7 days, my warranty is now out, and I didn’t have a coffee maker. Since I once loved this one so much I grabbed another one from Target. 2nd brew it blew coffee grounds ALL over the place. I did everything the same way I used to, with the same coffee and this was the result. I tried 3 more times with the same results. I’m returning the new one as defective and Mr. Coffee won’t be seeing any more of me. I have had plenty of $20 coffee makers that worked better and longer. I will probably only keep the thermal carafe since it hasn’t betrayed me yet. Attached is a picture of the new coffee maker every time that you fill it above 8 cups. ————- I purchased this coffee maker back in January 2017 for my husband's birthday and have waited until now, June, to review. Many of the reviews I initially read made me nervous about purchasing this, due to the changes that they stated happened in the long term. Today I would not hesitate to purchase a second one, although I don't see it going any time soon. We are heavy coffee drinkers who make multiple full carafes a day. Quite often we replace makers more often than 6 months due to burning them out. This product has taken all of our abuse and is no worse for wear. Note that: - I cannot comment on the filtration, because we use already filtered water. - We use a reusable container for our coffee grounds. - Although some reviews mention weaker coffee, we found that ours seemed stronger. This may be because our old coffee maker was taking 2 hours to fully brew! - Some people said to make sure you clean it often and well to avoid acid wear on the gasket. I am ashamed to admit that we don't always do this, but happy to report we've seen no difference. My favorite things - The thermal carafe. I am still amazed at how hot it can keep the coffee and for how long. Without the burner it cannot get burnt and thick over time. It's not often we have any left, but we have been surprised with steamy coffee a few times when rinsing it at the end of the day. Plus without the burner being on, we saved on our electric bill - The removable water reservoir. Very convenient for filling and cleaning. I've personally never had a coffee maker with this option. - The speed. I timed it the first day we got it and I timed it again today. It still brews in about 8 minutes. In my experiences many coffee makers get slower and slower. From what I've read coffee is optimally brewed in a short time at a temperature no higher than 205 which is what this offers. Potential negative considerations - It will steam. I personally do not have an issue with how much steam is produced unless I make multiple pots in a row. If you are concerned, I would pull it away from the cabinets and definitely not store potatoes above it. This could be definitely be an inconvenience for some. - The coffee does pour a little slower than I want it to. You pour it by holding a trigger and tipping. I often have to remind myself not to try tipping it further over to make the coffee come out faster. The hole is only so big and tipping it further only gives me a pointless arm ache. - It can make a mess if you don't pay attention. Two times since owning the coffee maker we have failed to put the carafe fully in and it did get coffee on the counter. Overall, I give this coffee the best rating and would happily recommend it. I still brag occasionally to visitors and my husband about how proud I am of my purchase. Most of the potential cons are either user error or unrealistic expectations. If you want your coffee to be reliably poured and kept hot in a quick manner then this is for you. ... show more
