Excellent music player for my 10 year old daughter. We are waiting until high school for her to have a phone, so this allows her to listen to her own music and feel some independence. She likes that it looks and feels like a phone. I already use Spotify, so I switched to a family account and added a "kid account" for her. We like that it has no games, internet browsers or other digital distractions. I also like that we control the Spotify playlists we share with her, and she otherwise only has access to a small library of "Spotify kids" music. It really couldn't have been an easier set up. This is a good choice for parents of young children, who are clambering for a phone or tablet. It has a plastic screen that looks like it could be glass, so no worry if dropped about cut fingers or high replacement cost. The theme and buttons are fun and likely to please young kids. It comes with a nice thick instruction book, and a one year warranty that is extendable to two years. It has parental controls, and no sim slot limiting access via phone calls. It already has kids versions of popular apps downloaded on it when available. It paired quickly and reliably to my external speaker and didn't drop off Bluetooth while in range. The sound is clear, but not too loud so little eardrums stay safe. The screen was very receptive to touch. It has a 3.5mm jack and comes with earbuds and a USB-c cord and a clear cover. The player is a nice burnt orange color and feels happy and bright. The battery lasts such a long time I was amazed every time I turned it on expecting it to be dead it was still above low battery. This can be used to watch movies on as well and they look great with true color. The size is also perfect for a toddler or young child's hands unlike the new phones which are too large and quite heavy. Great gift you a child or grandchild. The only real gripe I have is that the screen being plastic will scratch quite easily, so get a screen protector. I highly recommend this. ... show more

I love the simplicity of the screen where I could remove everything except the Apple Music button. It’s all he wants to use and avoids confusion. Lastly I love the parental controls! This didn’t work for us and I returned it. The parental controls were not easy to set up but more importantly apps kept failing to work even after updates and factory resets. I was bummed it didn’t work the way we had hoped.

I bought this 16GB MP3 player for my child to use instead of a regular smartphone. Overall, it is a great device that hits almost all the right marks for our family, though there is one major annoyance. What I love: Excellent Streaming & Audio: Having full support for Spotify and Audible is a game-changer. My child loves being able to easily access their favorite stories and music. Robust Parental Controls: The parental controls are incredibly easy to use. It’s a huge relief to know they can safely listen to content without stumbling onto unregulated web browsers. Bluetooth & WiFi: Connecting it to wireless earbuds and our car audio was a breeze. What needs improvement: Random Power-Offs: The reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it randomly powers off. Sometimes it shuts down in the middle of a song or audiobook, even when the battery is nowhere near empty. The parental controls are misleading because there is no way to hide the parental control app. So there is nothing stopping the child from going right into the parental controls and changing your settings. Also the screen is very low quality and not crisp at all. This will suffice, but there are likely better options for the price especially if you want better parental controls. ... show more
