  • Awesome for video projects!
I love that this is so compact yet delivers such quality sound. Attaching the mic into the cradle is a bit challenging, because it fits TIGHTLY into the cradle for security. Once you get it popped into place, I recommend keeping it there. It comes with a foam windscreen as well as a furry one that goes over the foam one, so you can shoot in even super windy conditions without a bunch of distortion. There are two different cables that come with the mic so it will be compatible with a wide range of products. I enjoy the on mic headphone jack to monitor audio. When you are done you can pack it back up in the included hard case with molded foam inserts for transport protection. This mic is half the price of its main competitor yet the quality is on par with the best. Save your money and invest in Movo! ... show more

  • best in sound
I do YouTube videos and was having problems with wireless mic -- get this mic and the sound is awesome. Picked up some bass to my auto sound, but you have to have the mic facing you that's the only thing the I have to work on.

  • Worth its price!
Is it worth it? Yes. Feels solid and not cheap, and performs well if you place it correctly. On YouTube when reviewers did tests vs the Rode video mic (2x the price!) I often preferred the sound of the Movo… felt a little warmer. Obviously it won’t beat out a $250 mic (Rode has mics from $100 and up), but under that budget, this is the best mic for video HANDS DOWN. I got a bundle which came with a bunch of cheap accessories some of which were non functioning out of the box (the 20’ cable being the most disappointing). However, I think the bundle was still only like $50 or 60, and this mic is WELL worth it. It came with a case that holds the mic, the shock mount, the dead cat style wind screen, and a normal blow guard (black foam windscreen), as well as a few different cables and a usb thumb drive interface. My first use was somewhat disappointing, the audio I recorded didn’t sound that much better than the audio my DSLR picks up on its own (or so I thought). But that was recording a band in a rehearsal space that wasn’t acoustically treated and not ideal. I WAS able to edit the audio and get something useable, but I just wasn’t impressed. However subsequent uses have impressed me more and more. I shot that same band doing a live show and had a Tascam DR40x recording in the back of the room, but I used this on my camera as back up audio. I’m so glad I did because my recorder filled up its memory card before the last 2 songs, and this on camera mic saved me. The audio was good enough that both myself and the band found it acceptable (not as good as the recorder audio, but that’s a location issue). This Movo Mic handled peaking really well, where being so close a few times the levels clipped… but in the final edit you can’t even really tell. If the camera were stationary it would’ve had consistent and crisp audio. Because I was moving around, the audio was crisp but you get a little more of whatever you’re pointing at (bass, guitar, drums etc). And the shock mount does it’s job perfectly, ZERO noise from me moving around A LOT. I would absolutely recommend this mic to anyone, both for dialogue and music video needs. ... show more

  • Compared to the Takstar/Rode Mics, Excellent Kit, Sound Quality Really Varies On Different Devices!!
I bought this to replace my Takstar SGC-598 Microphone, to use with my Nikon D5100 DSLR camera, after my Takstar started breaking sound, but after 3 years of super heavy usage, figured I'd upgrade and try something new, hence picking up this Movo, after endless great reviews. This microphone is by far the absolute best starter package kit and value, with everything you need, from the hard-shell case, wind muff/foam sponge, to even a wire for both your smartphone and camera, and best part is absolutely no batteries required. The case itself makes it special, since you'll feel much safer and more at ease to transport for any travelers. When used with my Android smartphone, the quality is excellent when speaking from a couple feet away, like doing a selfie style video, and even more incredible, if you hold it right next to your mouth, like a news reporter, incredibly rich and clear. I did a could blind audio tests with other mics, it's actually even better and cheaper than most Rode mics, certainly the micro model, which is in the same price range. The issues come when you're using it with any device, that has much poorer preamps, in my case my Nikon D5100 DSLR Camera. The volume is ridiculously low, unless you increase the sensitivity, but then if you do, the volume becomes perfect, but then is unable to clearly pick up higher loud sounds and has incredibly loud hiss noises. With the same default settings, it's moderately better than the Takstar SGC-598, however there is 1 major advantage to the Takstar. The Takstar has a +10 dB gains and High-Pass filter knobs. As a casual vlog filmmaker, I had never realized how important having such a thing was, but basically learned without that on a mic, such as the Movo, you're pretty much left deciding between either recording at low volumes or perfect volume, but very loud hiss and unclear sounds. In depth of sound, it's also bit too bassy, and doesn't have enough treble. This is where the Takstar really shines. I’m contemplating whether or not to return this, on most solid devices I’d highly recommend this microphone, truly is the absolute best kit out there, but for devices that need more audio demands, that becomes questionable. I think with a nice external recording device or setup where you speak directly into the mic, the Movo will be much better, but in open settings like when you're speaking anything more than 3 feet away from a camera, with low preamps, like most DSLRs, the Takstar easily without question does a significantly better job. The benefits to the Movo are all the accessories and fact you can actually use it with a smartphone, with what's provided. ... show more

  • 2 year warranty scam
I just want to say right off the bat before I even use this thing or taken it out of the box, that the two-year warranty that it wants you to scan the QR code for takes you to Facebook Messenger. I will never ever ever use a Facebook product. Two stars taken away just for that

  • Good audio
4 Stars only because attaching the microphone on the mount was difficult. Microphone has great range. Audio was clear and crisp

  • Mono mic works fine with iPad and iPhone
Sounds good and functions fine with my devices. You need something trickier to get stereo recordings, but like the built in mic on my Gen 8 iPad, the resulting recorded audio is a stereo file, with R and L equal.
