Description

The MOVO GH800 MKII Gimbal Head can hold up cameras weighing over 30 lbs, making it perfect for any photography using large telephoto lenses. Separate locks control the 360° panning base and swinging arm, allowing a full range of motion ideal for covering sporting events, catching birds in flight, or any other fast moving subjects. The "gravity-balanced" gimbal head makes even the bulkiest camera and lens combos seem almost weightless. The Arca-Swiss- compatible quick-release plate (included) is 120 mm long, providing ample support of most telephoto lenses. For extreme telephoto lenses longer base plates can be easily substituted. Large, lobed knobs are easy to operate even through gloves or in dark conditions, and numbered scales along the panning base and the vertical arm allow you to easily repeat your setup for various lens and camera combinations. The panning base and vertical arm capable of 360 degree rotation (horizontal and vertical). Additionally, the lens platform can be adjusted up or down by 4" to better accommodate different camera set ups. • Works Great! No issues
This gimbal head has changed my sports photography. The Movo GH800 is nearly perfect for what I needed. It has given me more free range of motion while using a monopod, nearly matching the freedom of movement of handheld photography when not using a monopod. Pros: * The motion is very smooth both horizontal and vertical. * The head balances very easily with the correct weight distribution. I also appreciate that it comes with a foot extender for the camera/lens to allow getting the correct placement if the lens/camera built in mounts don't quite line up as needed. * All the screw points to tighten and loosen the head movement are easily accessible and of a large enough size that gripping them is easy and provides enough leverage to get the screw tight. Cons: * The screws allow some level of specific adjustment to get the head to spin freely while also holding firm where desired, but I would have liked them to be a bit more refined so it could allow more precise setting. As is, it works it just could have been a bit more refined. * It is a little heavy, but honestly I prefer that as it makes it feel more secure and able to hold a larger lens and camera. That's a lot of money to trust to the gimbal head. Overall this is a fantastic purchase and I just wish I had made it sooner. 9/10 would recommend. ... show more

  • Outstanding performance and quality!
The media could not be loaded. This Movo GH800 is amazing! I had put off buying a gimbal head for so long and couldn't wait any longer. I started out looking at cheaper models but decided I didn't want all the deflection and wobble of the cheaper models. I found Movo by accident during a YouTube search and when I saw their price on Amazon, I decided to take the chance. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? If it was bad, I would just return it. Well, I AM NOT RETURNING IT! This thing is solid! As you can see in my video, even with the tension knobs opened all the way up there is no looseness in either rotating assemblies. It took about 2 minutes to install and dial in with added long mount plate which is a great bonus as they can run $10-20 minimum by themselves. Now, for those saying it's heavy, well yeah it might be, but it's gimbal head! This isn't made for supporting your tiny point and shoot camera. It's made for supporting thousands of dollars in big heavy equipment. I would not want it to feel light as feather for fear of breakage. For those complianing it doesn't have a portrait mode. Most long lenses (which this is designed for) have a tripod ring which allows you rotate the lens and camera body in any direction so I don't see the argument for that as a downside. Seeing this construction quality, features and price point, I only wish they made more things I needed. ... show more

  • Works Nicely
I just received this item and it’s seems to be well made a light for its size. The only con I have is what other reviewers have pointed out. The swing arm is stiff. I’ve sprayed T-9 into the joints and it’s still sticking. I’m wondering if maybe it's suppose to be a little stiff. I wouldn't want the camera swinging too much. ... show more

  • Bad click noise on the pan locking knob
The media could not be loaded. Everything feels fairly ok about this gimbal head, but the biggest issue it has just ruins it all together. The knob that unlocks the pan makes a very loud clicking noise. It feels loose and wobbles around very ugly. This is very annoying if you are trying to be quiet shooting birds or animals and all of a sudden when you try to unlock your pan axis: “baaaang”. Everything is gone. There are other minor imperfections in the finish but i would go over that is the functionality was decent. But it’s not. I’m not sure if i just got a bad gimbal or this is how al of them are. ... show more

  • Incredible Value
K&F Concept 78” tripod Movo GH 800 MKII Nikon 200-500 f5.6 I am more than pleased. Just invested in the Nikon long lens, and was kind of thinking that I could hand hold at all times. WRONG. But as a weekend warrior, I can’t really justify the $ for the Wimberley league. Prior to purchasing, my biggest concern was wobble & smoothness of motion. I can happily report that I am pleasantly surprised on both accounts. Zero wobble, and very fluid and consistent motion on both axes. I do agree somewhat with other reviews, that the tension adjustments are a bit abrupt. But I also like the fact that the tension screws only require minor adjustments. Wide open, the motion seems flawless to me, does not spin wildly or out of control, but I can control the camera with one finger. And I really did notice how the horizontal & vertical both respond exactly the same. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Not good in the long term....
I have had this since 2022, and after about 30-50 uses, it is coming apart. Specifically, the little knob that opens and closes the arca Swiss plate came out - loosened out and little springs fell out. I can still lock, but it is loose. The large knob that allows the gimbal to swing back and forth is locked tight and I cannot undo. Now I am concerned... what else can go wrong. Can this still support my 600MM? Long term... quality issues I feel. I have contacted the manufacturer. Hoping for some positive response. ... show more
