Description

The MOVO GH800 MKII Gimbal Head can hold up cameras weighing over 30 lbs, making it perfect for any photography using large telephoto lenses. Separate locks control the 360° panning base and swinging arm, allowing a full range of motion ideal for covering sporting events, catching birds in flight, or any other fast moving subjects. The "gravity-balanced" gimbal head makes even the bulkiest camera and lens combos seem almost weightless. The Arca-Swiss- compatible quick-release plate (included) is 120 mm long, providing ample support of most telephoto lenses. For extreme telephoto lenses longer base plates can be easily substituted. Large, lobed knobs are easy to operate even through gloves or in dark conditions, and numbered scales along the panning base and the vertical arm allow you to easily repeat your setup for various lens and camera combinations. The panning base and vertical arm capable of 360 degree rotation (horizontal and vertical). Additionally, the lens platform can be adjusted up or down by 4" to better accommodate different camera set ups. • Outstanding performance and quality!
The media could not be loaded. This Movo GH800 is amazing! I had put off buying a gimbal head for so long and couldn't wait any longer. I started out looking at cheaper models but decided I didn't want all the deflection and wobble of the cheaper models. I found Movo by accident during a YouTube search and when I saw their price on Amazon, I decided to take the chance. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? If it was bad, I would just return it. Well, I AM NOT RETURNING IT! This thing is solid! As you can see in my video, even with the tension knobs opened all the way up there is no looseness in either rotating assemblies. It took about 2 minutes to install and dial in with added long mount plate which is a great bonus as they can run $10-20 minimum by themselves. Now, for those saying it's heavy, well yeah it might be, but it's gimbal head! This isn't made for supporting your tiny point and shoot camera. It's made for supporting thousands of dollars in big heavy equipment. I would not want it to feel light as feather for fear of breakage. For those complianing it doesn't have a portrait mode. Most long lenses (which this is designed for) have a tripod ring which allows you rotate the lens and camera body in any direction so I don't see the argument for that as a downside. Seeing this construction quality, features and price point, I only wish they made more things I needed. ... show more

  • Best bang for your buck !!!!
The product came in a nice box with foam around it and didn’t feel cheaply packaged. While the product felt professional quality and tough. I’m completely happy with this purchase !!!!

  • Fit & finish
Why are review requests sent out so soon after purchase? I’m giving a low rating because I’ve had no time to test. So far I’ve mounted on my tripod with a canon rf 800 f/11 and R6 to check how well it fits. For now every thing appears to fit snuggly and is well made. After further testing I may revisit this review. ... show more

  • Works great, but too heavy to carry around
As you can see, i scored its quality very high. Unlike other reviewers experience my copy works great with fluid movement in both direction. My issue is that it is built too sturdy, as if it is to handle 100 lbs. as the consequence, it weighs about 3.5 lbs compared to other carbon fiber gimbal heads that weigh nearly half of that. This isn’t something that you would carry around on a hike, because once you add the tripod it is too heavy. So I recommend it for stationery applications only, and not for hikes on wildlife photography. Update- be careful if you plan to mount your camera and lens and carry them on your shoulder. The provided screw to mount it is too short, and the base is CF vs. metal so depending on the weight of your gear the whole thing can come off when tilted. Thats what happen to my setup, luckily, my camera strap got caught on my neck and save my expensive gear from damage. ... show more

  • Works Nicely
I just received this item and it’s seems to be well made a light for its size. The only con I have is what other reviewers have pointed out. The swing arm is stiff. I’ve sprayed T-9 into the joints and it’s still sticking. I’m wondering if maybe it's suppose to be a little stiff. I wouldn't want the camera swinging too much. ... show more

  • Needs a little better machining.
At low drag settings this becomes a little sticky and not as smooth as I would like. Tolerances need to be tightened and surfaces more parallel so it doesn't stick. Shooting humming birds and this is so much better than a "ballhead." I use Canon lenses and you will need mounting plates . Check Really Rite Stuff. ... show more

  • Design is missing a portrait mounting option.
This could've been the best tripod head on the market, but just like most it's always short of one component. A 90° adapter would move this like hot cakes. The lens type it's designed for is extremely functional. But you don't want to carry two tripod heads with you, so.. most will go for a more adaptable heavy duty fluid head. If they had included an adapter it additional 90° mounting point. This product could replace most tripod heads. ... show more

  • Not bad for the price.
Unit is not square to the head, but it will work for the price.
