Description

A sustainable reimagining of our best-selling ultralight down jacket. Because a jacket is supposed to keep you warm (surprise—this one does!) but what about one that won't heat up the atmosphere? We think this flying space rock is pretty awesome, and because we want to keep Earth awesome, we made the Ghost Whisperer/2, which uses trash instead of making more. With completely recycled face fabric and responsibly sourced, RDS-certified down insulation, this layer brings the heat where it's supposed to.

Super warm and light, and I get tons of compliments
I went out to the Weminuche Wilderness in Colorado, and I needed something light and warm for my 7 day trek through the mountains. I bought two of these in golden brown (It was the cheapest at the time.), hoping that these would be functional. I layered one over the other, and this kept me warm into the 20s at night. To those complaining about price, of course this isn't cheap. For this weight and the 800 fill power, I don't know what others would expect. Then I came home from my trip from Colorado back to Ohio and started wearing this at work. I dress nice, wear nice cologne, but this jacket is what got me all of the compliments. This was the golden brown. These are sleek and stylish, not bulky of course. I bought the last dark storm jacket at the time (Sorry!), and I am waiting on it, but having bought two jackets before, I'm not concerned. They held up in difficult conditions in the mountains as well. If the dark storm is terrible for some reason, I'll edit the review. I am 5'9, 162 lbs., and the small fits great. The arm length is a little long, but I have shorter than average arms for my height (66 - 67 inch wing span), so this is more me than the jacket. Please keep in mind that this isn't just a coat; it is perfect for ultralight backpacking. For me, these were well worth the money and kept me from freezing in the mountains. ... show more

Great Lightweight Jacket!

Good looking, lightweight Jacket. Purchased for the slopes and, but I do believe I will definitely have to layer for colder days; but I have yet to be out on the slopes with the jacket.

A little big
I have become a fan of Mountain Hardwear jackets. This is a very warmth, light and great looking jacket. I am 5'10" and I got the medium (I also use the Patagonia Down sweater in medium for comparison). The fit was right on chest and shoulders but too long and wide in the bottom, I was surprise because I also have a Phantom in medium and the fit is perfect, I replaced the medium with a small, it fits better, feels a little tighter under the arms but I liked it that way. If you have the chance, I highly recommend to try it before ordering. People in the reviews complain about the main zipper, they say it gets stuck. In my opinion this is normal, because the zippier is very small (makes the jacket lighter), you have to use both hands to detach the end of the zipper, I would say "Do not be lazy!, it will not take more than 5 seconds to detach it" ... show more

Decent coat but for the price, I would expect more

It is a nice lightweight jacket and looks good. It is easy to store and fairly warm. It certainly isn't a full on winter coat but that isn't what it is designed for. I would like it better if the zipper was higher quality and if it had some inside pockets. I think there are cheaper options out there that may provide better functionality but overall I like it. I had this jacket before with a hood and the good thing is that if the zipper breaks, you can send it to the company and they will fix it. Good thing because sooner or later you will need it replaced. My zipper broke twice on my old coat. It is also very easy to snag and tear the fabric. I basically through mine away because I got tired of sewing little tears on my previous jacket ... show more

Perfect underlayer
2.5 weeks in the windy, rainy, chilly Patagonia region. Lot's of hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, camping. Ultra lightweight and warm. packs down small in it's integral case. Nice combo with a waterproof windbreaker. I've only had and used it for a few weeks; Seems quite durable.

Cheap Material

This jacket is nice and lightweight but unfortunately is incredibly flimsy. I drive a lot for work and am in/out of the car. Where my seat belt sits there is a hole from where the seatbelt rubs across it. It’s been less than two months, maybe wearing it 15 times total. Disappointing and wouldn’t recommend buying this. I’m out of the return time period so I’m stuck with a jacket with a hole and because the fluff was coming out with every movement, I was forced to gorilla tape it. Amazing!
So warm and so light. Fit is great but the underarms are the snuggest part. The small fit nice and snugly, but was too tight on the underarms. Ended up with a medium.
