  • Excellent Two-Way Radio
Model name: T475
I bought this radio for yard work. It worked with no problem on low power mode around the yard (about an acre or so). We got bored and decided to test the range. I stayed at the house while two friends drove an atv through the neighborhood. They got to the edge of the neighborhood (3.9 miles according to google maps) and I could still clearly hear them on low power. The wind cancellation is also excellent. I had zero clue my friend was going 20+ mph on an ATV/4-Wheeler while he was talking to me. I used Amazon basics rechargeable batteries instead of the included battery packs and I had excellent battery life. We used them regularly during 8+ hours of yard work and it still showed 3/3 bars of battery life. This was with all the extra features turned on (vibracall, weather alerts, etc.). The emergency alert feature is a nice touch. Thankfully we didn’t need to use it, but we did test it and there is no way we would miss the emergency alert in case someone got hurt and needed immediate attention. Volume of radios is excellent. On full volume you could hear an incoming transmission while driving a zero turn mower (vibracall also helps with this). I cannot speak to the weatherproofing as I have not used them in poor weather, but it does seem to be a nice feature. Overall I am very happy with these radios, and would highly recommend them. They definitely live up to the Motorola name. I currently have 4 of these radios (Motorola talkabout T475), and plan to buy more. ... show more

  • Light weight, Very clear reception, Easy to use
Model name: T475
I'm an engineer, with a Ham Radio license, so I like using radios. The production floor where I work uses FRS radios to communicate with each other. They'd have gotten me one, but I figured I'd find one that I liked better. Now people don't have to come all the way upstairs to my office to get help, I'm a quick call away. Their radios are good, but normally last rough a single 8 hour shift. I find mine will handle all but 4 complete 8 hours shifts, and because they come as a pair, I easliy get a whole week and charge at home. Mine is light weight, and fits in my shirt pocket when I'm walking around. And, with 121 privacy codes for each channel, I can easily find an unused channel for privacy chats. All in all, I'd say it was a VERY good purchase - great value for the money ... show more

  • Good two way radios
Model name: T475
Pretty typical two way radios with some extras. Syncing is a nice option. Works good with corded mic. We've been using for communicating when working in crawl space and attic during home remodeling. Also wanted for future caravan road trips. More convenient and reliable than trying to use cell phones. ... show more

  • Great price for the pair and charging cradle
Model name: T470
So far so good. They look new other then the stickers on the bottom for labeling and then having no OEM packaging. One battery was mostly charged while the other needed a few hours to fully charge. They stayed 3 bars of power after being on standby and light testing for over 8 hours so the units and batteries all seem to work well. I was happy surprised they came with the charging cradle. Wish it didn't use the old style USB plug but with the cradle it doesn't matter much. I'll adjust my review if needed after I get actual use out of them. Mostly I'm in hiking groups where I'll use them. I'm expecting them to do better than the cheap ones I've borrowed from people but assume they won't be as nice as the expensive Rockie Talkie. The open box price made these half the cost of just one Rockie Talkie. It is not clear the actual power these use. Other Motorola ones do not use the full allowed power so I assume these also do not. They should be good enough though and use more power and better sound than the cheap ones. If that's not the case I'll lower my review. ... show more

  • Motorola 2 pack radio's battery life is terrible
Model name: T475
This product is terrible, we had motorolas at work many years ago and they worked great. I turned these on for the NOAA radio and within 1 hour both radio's were dead. I plugged them back in charged them and ditto same thing except I do not even think it lasted an hour. Obviously it is too late to return but for the amount of money I paid for the 2 you would expect them to last longer than they did. as for the range of 35 miles....that is also a joke....I drove 2 miles away to test and the the radio maybe worked for the first 1/2 mile. I have 5 acres and wanted them in case I am on the other side of the property and needed help. needless to say these radio's are NOT the answer. ... show more

  • Great signal in the mountains
Model name: T475
Used these for several hunting trips in Idaho in various types of terrain. As with most radios down in a wooded canyon the reception is weak and static but could still make out what was said. Line of sight across mountains was clear. Battery maintained for a couple days (12 hour days). Overall great radios! ... show more
