This is the 4th foot pedal that had the same problem. Works fine for just over a month (warranty is 30 days) and for no reason it stops working. The last pedal I bought lasted 35 days and motorguide will not warranty. I Will never buy a motorguide product again.

    • Don't buy this foot pedal
I just bought this foot pedal for my small bass boat. This foot pedal is junk if you want to accurately position your boat. The steering is terribly unresponsive and the pedal is so stiff it's almost impossible to get it to turn unless you stand on it, then it turns much more than you'd like it to. Finite steering adjustments are almost impossible. I called MotorGuide they told me if you don't like it, send it back. I guess that's what I'll do, which is unfortunate because I really like the motor but can't fish effectively without a foot pedal. So I'll have to return both. ... show more

The only real issue I had with this foot pedal was the force needed to make the unit turn left (almost had to stand up). This effort always resulted in overturn. To fix this issue, I changed out the springs (5 min DIY) with C-750 springs. This made all the difference needed. The unit is now very easy to turn left and right. I can even make little micro adjustments by tapping with front or heel of foot. The springs are available on Amazon for around $7.00 a pair. I am now very happy with this foot pedal. ... show more

Quality remote wireless foot pedal. Easily paired with my Motorguide xi3 trolling motor. Another reviewer said a spring swap was necessary, and he was right! Pedal with oem springs is unusable. You'd think Motorguide would have taken a hint by now. With a swap of the two oem springs for C-750 springs ($7.50+ at Amazon) works perfectly. Small adjustments to direction were impossible with oem springs, easy with the replacements. ... show more

This foot pedal was easy to set up although I had to put it up next to my ear to hear it beep when turning on and off. The pedal was harder to push forward and backward to turn the motor left and right and it was very hard to to push it just hard enough to move the motor a little, it would want to turn half way around before I could get my foot off of it.     • Failed out of the box! (Was replaced and new one works fine)
Didn’t work out of the box. Unfortunately when I ordered it my boat was getting new fuel lines, paint and a new motor. It was several weeks after I got this that I got my boat back. By the time I tried it out my return period has ended so working with the manufacturer to get a replacement. Not happy so far! Overall quality of the pedal seems great hoping to get a working unit from the manufacturer. Update 09/2019 The manufacturer offers little to no support just says find a repair facility. This is not a part they carry. They ordered a replacement after evaluating my motor and pedal but I got a replacement and have had no issues with it since. ... show more

I use the xi3 on my Bonafide Kayak ss127. If I had to choose between the remote or pedal, I would pick the remote. Now with that being said, I would rather have both! They each have pros and cons, but for me, the foot pedal gives me the hands free freedom I need while fishing. There is a learning curve to the pedal, but it’s worth it! ... show more

Ordered this item, but didn't fully work properly, the left function wasn't working. Was able to choose return with exact replacement, very fast easy process and we received the replacement item the very next day! The foot pedal works perfectly and my husband is very happy with it.
