I really like this phone! However I have been using $39 phones for a decade. You can get a very good phone for $39 if you shop carefully, and go easy on apps. But this Moto G is SO much faster and clearer. No app (that I would use) has made it laggy. Yes it is big, sticks way out of my shirt pocket. However same width as my old (obsolete) LG, so fits in the pocket fine. Touch-screen works well but not "too well" (the LG used to open apps when I brushed it). It transferred all my Contacts and even my Messages (via Google services). And yes this model is 5G. (Beware: some Moto Gs are not 5G.) I learned to stylus on my old PALM Pilot. Much better than a fat blunt finger! The Moto G stylus is quite functional. I do plan to supplement it with USB OTG (for desktop keyboard) and a bluetooth keyboard; for entering tricky passwords or long texts. The camera is good, and has more 'modes' than I know what to do with. It is far better than the $39 phone cameras, though hardly 10X better (if camera pizzazz is a priority, read reviews, there are better choices). I know I will never fill the 255GB SD card. (Even the 220++GB internal storage is enormous unless I load all the music I can buy or bootleg.) I got Adobe Acrobat working!! I do a lot of documents, documentation, and plans. The old phone never managed that. Battery capacity seems very good; important here because I have two apps that just guzzle the juice. If you are used to $999 HI-end phones, this may be a letdown.     • Reliable basic phone
I like Moto products, and these phones have held up so well. The fingerprint reader is helpful. I haven't used the stylus as much as I'd assumed I would, but it's been handy a few times. The battery life is the best I've ever had with an Android. The camera is not very good, but the photo editing software is easy to use. The screen is clear and easy to read, and I use my phone a lot as an e-reader. I hope it's a long time before my partner and I need to replace these. ... show more

    • Good budget phone
Got this to replace my aging moto g8 power. Decided to go with moto once again since the price was in my budget. Cons: 1. Lower volume than my g8 power. I have problems hearing phone calls with this. I have to find a really quiet place. 2. Dim screen outside just like my previous phone. Don't try to use this out in sunlight. It will not work out well. 3. Not dual sim. Not sure why I thought it was but I do miss having my 2 sims with me. 4. Stylus is a gimmick. Don't bother with it. If you think you're getting a note experience with it think again. Pros: 1. Extra memory is a plus. I got the 256GB version with a 256GB card included and the extra memory is great for all my apps, files and media. 2. The cameras are good. Not top of the line quality but worth the price. 3. Battery life is nice. Not as good as my old g8 power but still lasts me a day. 4. 120 Hz refresh rate is sweet. Review for Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 8G RAM/256G storage: This purchase puts me on my fifth Motorola phone. Moved up from a 2020 Moto G Power (one of the best Moto phones ever made, IMO.) Needed a larger screen for calls, reading, and texting. Retains SD card and headphone jack capability. Longer battery life if the screen refresh rate is set to 60 vs 120. Videos at the higher rate are stunning. Very fast navigating and performance, no screen lag. Also Bought a Google Fi version of this phone through Google Fi (a $99 promo!! for international travel. The Fi version comes with only 4G RAM but is seems to run just as fast as my 8G RAM primary phone. Self-storing Stylus is useful as a way to avoid dirtying the screen, not so good for writing or drawing unless you have very steady hands. Wish this phone had dual-sim capability. Otherwise a great Moto phone at a great price when purchased on sale or through Google Fi promotions. This model is slated to receive upgrade to at least Android 13 and periodic security updates through 2025. ... show more

    • Great phone amazing battery, strange quirks.
honestly, this phone is durable like crazy durable and feels nice too. It's lightning fast and responsive, easily beats my old Samsung Galaxy A51 at the same price. Also the fingerprint reader is super sensitive accidently activated it while trying to turn off the screen, 😂. The camera is great, got some really nice photos of sunsets. And don't get me started on battery life, it's crazy 😊 I mean it lasted 4 days on the first charge. At first I only used it for calling and texting, but I never had a phone with battery life that good. But all in all it's still so easy to use, for it's size it feels nice to use even one handed..... I have small hands, I have to buy extra small gloves. Yes it's real, but still I'm only 5'4" with small hands and I can use this phone one handed. Now as for the weirdness, my keyboard app broke, Google keyboard broke in the middle of texting my mom.... It switched to hand writing mode, and all buttons disappeared 😭 ... I couldn't figure out why, It took me 30 minutes of frustration just to uninstall Google keyboard and reinstall it. Bam it worked and I got to finish my text to my mom.... Also the globe icon, is actually the handwriting mode switch. So if you Google keyboard breaks or you get stuck in hand writing mode, try uninstalling and reinstalling Google keyboard.
