Description

Why do we use the more costly etching process for frosted protectors? Sandblasting process: tiny quartz sand particles are sprayed on the transparent glass by specific means to produce a matte finish effect. Etching process: the surface of transparent glass is etched with specific chemical reagents to produce a matte finish effect. The disadvantage of the sandblasting process is that it is difficult to achieve high quality and uniform spraying, and the quartz sand attached to the surface is more easily dislodged by external friction. Therefore, the frosted tempered glass may have the following two disadvantages: 1) the surface is excessively rough causing a serious loss of screen clarity and wear of the Apple pen tip; 2) the glass surface has almost no matte finish effect, resulting in the anti-fingerprint not lasting, or even failing to achieve the anti-glare and anti-fingerprint effect. On the contrary, the etching process is a chemical reagent corrosion process, so the product quality is more stable. The matte surface effect of its glass surface is moderate, which can maintain good clarity and also achieve the effect of anti-glare and anti-fingerprint, and can reduce the wear and tear of the Apple pencil. Important: It's a mild matte finish. Although it doesn't have quite the same drawing-on-paper-feel as matte plastic protectors, the matte glass is much better than glossy glass. Most importantly it doesn't get scratched as quickly as a plastic protector and severely degrades the display quality. I love this screen protector. Beautiful paper feel, but not so rough it will eat apple pencil tips. It definitely softens the glare from lights without losing any detail or color. It went on beautifully, no bubbles at all, you just have to make sure you clean your area up before applying (general rule of putting on screen protectors). It fits beautifully in my Zugu case as well without lifting. As an artist I had to test the pencil. It works beautifully and it's nice and smooth but you still get the "paper" sound (see video).     • Outstanding upgrade — looks like Nano-glass
It was a bit annoying to get on, having left some bubbles that I could not initially get rid of. However, one day in, the bubbles disappeared or were easy to get out. Single best upgrade for my iPad I have made. Looks exactly like nano-glass from Apple, but rather less than $1000. Not only less reflections, but also does a great job with fingerprints and oils.     • Best matte screen protector I’ve used
Extremely quality!! Truly fingerprint resistant, where with other matte protectors I frequently needed to wipe the screen. This one doesn’t hold onto fingerprints nearly as badly. The clarity is far better than other matte protectors as well, far more than paperlike or astropad imo. I ended up with a few bubbles, and as I worked them out, they turned into tiny, tiny bubbles that required a specific maneuver to work out. It took a while, but it was worth it. I was able to work every last one out. I’m no stranger to iPad installation with a frame like this, and it was easy to put on once I got the screen fully cleaned off. Unfortunately, I had to use both protectors, because when I was lifting the edges to remove bubbles, cat hair and dust blew underneath the adhesive and wouldn’t come off, no fault of the protector. It’s ideal to install in a steamy room, but even then, be careful that your surface is dusted and clean. ... show more

    • Practically better than nano-texture, especially if the install goes right.
Almost 5 stars mainly because of the size/fitment. For the M4/M5 iPad, It leaves a 1mm gap (1.5 at the top/camera side) around the entire bezel which doesn’t look that great but that’s similar to Apple’s nano-texture iPad screen. I read users found Apple’s nano-texture screen annoying since it doesn’t go edge to edge so swiping caused the finger to catch at the edges. With this protector, it has the opposite effect since it sits proud so swiping from the edges is actually more seamless with the rounded edges. That said, first impressions are very good. The screen feels nearly identical to the nano-texture. I handled both within an hour and it has that same smooth finger glide, smooth pencil feel, is maybe slightly more smudge resistant, practically similar sharpness and clarity plus that lovely premium feeling anti-glare. Installation took a little work since it fits the guide very snugly and didn’t just fall in. I had to reposition a couple times so kept getting off centered but luckily, it lifts and repositions fairly easy. As for bubbles, just follow the instructions to lift a corner until the bubble connects and push it out from the middle, repeat until all bubbles are gone. I did get a some dust at the edges but pro tip: use one of those long dust stickers and touch the sticky side up under the protector to grab the specks. My installation looks as good as it could get save for a tiny fiber in the middle but its honestly invisible unless the screen is off. If the gap up top were smaller, it would definitely be 5 star worthy but for the price, it’s quite amazing. Especially since there are two protectors. Maybe if you could center it completely to eliminate that noticeable gap, it would be perfect. Maybe on the next install. ... show more

    • Excellent Anti-Glare Screen Protector for Everyday Use
I have used this screen protector on my iPad Pro throughout undergrad, and it has been a necessity. Although you do lose a bit of display sharpness, the glare reduction it provides is phenomenal. Not only can I work on my iPad without overhead lights distracting me, but it also makes the writing experience much more enjoyable when using the Apple Pencil. Once you go Mothca you can never go back. So easy to install. No issues with dust and pet hair (if you do it correctly) no bubbles. The installation kit was chefs kiss. It fits perfectly and definitely worth every penny. It doesn’t affect the colors on the screen at all and makes it easier to sit by a window and not have that unruly glare burning your retinas out. This thing absolutely sucks. I have the M4 iPad Pro and I used both screen protectors, ended with ridiculous air bubbles. Their “fit” is terrible, there’s no way to align it. I am not sure if I got a faulty one or what but it doesn’t tell you which way to place their plastic alignment tool, the screen protector doesn’t catch onto it properly if at all. The one GOOD thing about it is that it’s matte, so despite the air bubbles at least they didn’t lie about it being matte What makes me doubt myself is that there are other 5 star reviews, so either I am just stupid or missing something OR I am right. Either way, take what I am saying with a grain of salt; this is just my opinion ... show more

    • Great protector but awkward installation. Use your eyes instead of their frame.
Does what it should. Its great at making your screen matte. If you are an artist or creator that films their iPad, this screen protector will do wonders for blocking those light reflections and make filming your screen look smoother. For Artists, it helps the pen glide better and is a good middle ground between the glass screen and a paper-like type of protector. Glass never felt good to draw on for me but paper-like protectors are very harsh and make touching your device uncomfortable, and also wear down your pencil nibs much faster. This matter protector is a middle ground without those negatives. For gamers, the matte screen feels much better and let's your fingers glide easier than on the oily smudgey glass. It is also MUCH easier to clean. A few swipes makes the device clean. With the oily glass, it would take many deep get your elbow in it type of swipes with a microfiber cloth. Why the two stars? The installation process is not great. The main drawback is the "frame" that they give you is useless for aligning your protector. It's not cutout to the same dimensions of the glass protector. If you rely on it to align, you WILL get it crooked. It does not guide your glass down where it should go. My second try went better by just using my eyes and guiding it on my own. I wasted one because I tried to rely on the frame to guide the screen protector. So $25 for one protector is a little rough. ... show more
