  • Wow what a gift in the world of fishing!
Size: 7' MHF Style: Rambler
I am impressed. I wanted a good looking, great feeling, and mid-sensitive rod for pike and walleye in my boat and moonshine has outdone themselves with everything listed and then some. The hard case included is fantastic and they took some attention to detail which I appreciate, stout, plenty of room without a ton of slop, the zipper isn’t finicky, and both the top and bottom of the case are solid. I was a bit nervous due to the different approach moonshine took on their larger line guide having a super tiny hole as opposed to the standard but it remarkably casts even further than i would have given it credit for without having tried it first. Plus it came with a sticker which was almost as exciting 😂 well worth the money, good weight, crisp balance, and well tuned. ... show more

  • Beautiful Craftsmanship and Solid Performance
Size: 7wt 10' Style: Drifter Ii
The craftsmanship on this rod is absolutely top-notch. From the moment you take it out of the case, you can tell it’s made with care and attention to detail. As someone who really appreciates quality gear, I was impressed right away. Out on the water, this rod performs just as well as it looks. The casting is smooth and accurate, with a great feel and balance in hand. It loads well and delivers a clean presentation without much effort. I’ve used it primarily on the North Platte River in Wyoming and had excellent success with it—plenty of control even in variable conditions, and the backbone to handle feisty trout. The weight feels just right for all-day use, and I had no issues with fatigue or strain after long sessions. It’s clear Moonshine Rod Co. knows what they're doing. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just looking for a rod that will help you grow in the sport, this is a rock-solid choice and a great value. The weight and size of the rod are perfect for larger rivers. It's not the best choice for fishing small rivers and creeks but for decent sized fish this is a great option. Highly recommend—beautiful rod, reliable performance, and a great company behind it. ... show more

  • Casts like a dream!
Size: 3wt 7'6 Style: Drifter Ii
What a fantastic rod! It punches outside it's weight class in every way. First of all, it looks great! Secondly, it is made exceptionally well. I have a couple of 9' 5wt St Croix rods and needed a 3 wt. I bought the 7'6" 3 wt Moonshine Drifter II. I've used it twice and am sold. It is incredibly accurate. In fact, in just a couple of minutes of use I found myself literally just thinking of a spot and the cast was almost automatic. I was nailing challenging targets time after time like shooting fish in a barrel. Fighting a fish is natural and intuitive with the drifter II. It has great feel and is super comfortable. The action loads easily and launches line. The handle is some of the softest feeling cork I've ever felt on a fly rod. So far, it's fantastic. My hope is it holds up over the years. Time will tell. At this point, I can see this being something I could proudly hand down as an heirloom. ... show more

  • Excellent quality rods.
Size: 4wt 8'6" Style: Phantom
Great rod, I bought the 4wt 8’6” and it gets the flies out there. Highly recommend MRC rods. Comes with an extra tip, just in case…

  • Not same rod as picture
I ordered the “revival” 4wt, 7’6”. Overall craftsman ship is nice. Rod pictured is not the same as rod received. I believe moonshine has since updated the “revival,” in fact I believe it is now discontinued altogether. Rod received had different cork which is not as nice as pictured cork, reel uplock hardware is black not silver, and first foot of glass about cork is also black. See pics on moonshine website, those are an accurate depiction of rod sent. IMO, the old aesthetic was much prettier. Feel of rod is great, super lightweight, full flex and traditional feeling glass action and sensitivity. Happy with purchase, just wish it matched pics on Amazon web store. ... show more

  • AWESOME - very sensitive feel for a rod at a 1/3 the price of my fancy rod I broke!
Size: 2wt 10'4 ESN Style: Epiphany
I broke my very costly and only Euro Rod (Tip only) and had to send it away for repair, and it's going to take 6 weeks or more to get it back to me. Got the 10'4'' 2WT Epiphany Euro Rod and used it right away, and WOW, I like it better than my other rod already! The sensitivity is awesome, and after catching over a dozen trout on it in a few hrs, I think I will sell my other rod now. I love the fact that you get an extra tip included so you can stay fishing even when you have a mishap like I had. Highly recommend this product! Great value for the money. ... show more

  • Solid Value. Works as a back-up, an entry-level or an every day...
Size: 4wt 8'6 Style: Drifter Ii
Lots of reviews and commentary about Moonshine - - - here's what I can tell you. I purchased a 3 and 4-wt drifter, and then another 3wt as a gift for a family member. Aesthetically, the rods look really good. The case works, and you can't beat getting the extra tip. I've fished both the 3 and 4 wt in skinny water and small rivers throughout IL & WI for mostly brown and brook trout, plus smallies and the unintentional rock bass / blue gill. One of the complaints I've read is that the rods feel heavy and stiff, some said it felt like casting a log... I didn't find this to be the case - - - I fished multiple sessions, days at a time, and never felt the weight of the rod to be heavy or clumsy. Casting, I was able to target pockets with accuracy ( relative to my own skills ). In many cases, the rods provided me with enough confidence to pursue to a few fairly ambitious targets, which paid off with strikes and landed fish, time and time again. I can't say much about backbone, as my target species were typically 8" to 12" browns - - - that said, i did handle a 15" brown to hand on the 4wt, and a thick 14" smallie as well. Never did i experience any breaking, splintering, or any other complaints other users have had... Overall, after one season, I'm a fan of the moonshine rods. I'm not going to say I'd take them over St. Croix, G. Loomis, Sage, etc... but I found them to do the job, especially for skinny water trout. ... show more
